In this video, booking agent Peter Loomis discusses what his responsibilities are and how to successfully work with an artist. He gives helpful tips for pitching artists to festivals and venues and explains the importance of diversifying to help build an artist’s career. He concludes by sharing stories of bands he has worked with who have built huge fan bases by booking tours as supporting acts and headliners. This video is part of Berklee Online’s Touring 101 course, written and taught by Bruce Houghton, founder and president of Skyline Artists Agency and Hypebot.com.

Thanks for posting this video. Hopefully it will help our band "Almost Skynard". We are good at performing but not very good at promoting ourselves.

Granted I'm on the lowend but consider any musical event as a social...I figure maybe 10 pct of audience is there for the music.....others are there because some else is with them.....and something to do......imo

So if you're lucky enough to get a supporting gig, go back 6+ months afterward and try to do your own show, establish a fanbase in that area, assuming demographics are in your favor?
