I have ridden a 2013, 2017 and a 2019 R1200RT. I prefer the previous 2013 version. The drivers seat is better, The dashboard is easier to read and the motor is simpler. The fairing is better. BMW also needs to improve the cruise control - the bike lurches. ON this new model, I do like the built in GPS. I do not think phone calls should be allowed while moving. I have ridden motos for 46 years. I believe taking calls while riding is unsafe.
Thanks for your very informative presentation. A wonderful motorcycle. Which is to be expected from BMW. I have a 1984 BMW R100RS. I have owned this motorcycle since April 1985. I have since ridden this bike for thousands of kilometres since then. It has 493,000 kilometres on the dial. And it still goes without any problem. Being born in Munich. But growing up and living in Australia. I am very patriotic to BMW bikes and cars. When the time comes to get a new bike. This RT is my choice. Vielen Dank.

@@MaartensTravels not for mine a K1300GT Metallic Royal Blue. Dealer told me they did not come in that color I would need find a body shop to have them repaint.

Because, when I bought my new motorcycle with top case, I was told that by default it comes in grey (unpainted) but I could have it in the color of the motorcycle at no additional cost. Of course, the dealer didn't repaint it themselves, but let it paint by another company (that also does paintjobs for repairs following accidents, etc. for motorcycles, car, etc.). They only charge costs when (re)painting a top case that you already got. Mine's red now and I will have it painted blue to match the new RT.
Does BMW know when the radios will be delivered to dealers in the US. my dealer sales person in San Diego stated at least one year. This seems much longer than I’d expect
If you purchase one of these bikes as I did you should not expect the features to work. My bike is 3 months old, the dealer can't get the features to work with my iPhone 12, BMW customer support will only refer you to the dealer who has not been trained and doesn't have the tools to fix these bikes. I have asked BMW Customer Support for a contact person at BMW North America who can setup and fix these bikes and they refuse to give a contact. You should also know if you order the BMW top box in blue or white it will come color matched, if you order one in Manhattan Metallic you will get a black trunk and will need to find a local painter to get this painted to match. BMW Motorrad will not give you the paint code either...so your on your own. If you plan to travel on your new RT you had better pack lots of paper maps as the bluetooth map navigation will fail 50+% of the time. The inductive phone charger and cable charger won't work and the BMW app will drain your phone in about 5 hours of use, so better pack an extra battery if you want to use your phone. If you buy this bike you are a Beta Tester and who knows if BMW will ever get this bike to function as advertised. Brad Snodgrass 317-339-1917
What is the problem supplying the radio with the new BMW R 1250 RT? A few months ago the configurator said you could choose the radio, then last month it said it wouldn’t be available for 6 months, then it was an option you could choose for £1,100+ , but now it says it’s unavailable again. What’s going on? If you can’t have a radio will the speakers play music from your phone?
Can I ask why the white RT has the black parts that hold the screen on incorrectly ?? I thought the bigger part of the plastic should be at the bottom (like on the Manhatten Colour) but clearly shows one up each way on the white one!! - Pause video at 2:53 !!
When ACC is on basically I can’t lane split yeah? I love the look of this bike, feels like iron man. Can’t wait to pass homologation but it’s so expensive in my country, cost bout $77000 😫
I own the 2019 R1250 GS Adventure. I'm shopping for a second bike for touring but I would only buy the RT if I can get all Brembo brakes from the dealer. It's much easier to change the brake pads on the road.

What happened to audiosystem? It has disapperared completely from configurator a few days ago. There's only some strange "Audiosystem preparation" option for extra cost, that's it.

Greets from AUS. I still like analog dials with a seperate digi display as the 1200's are. But Im not totally against the TFT, if say there was an option to have a simulated analog display but ofcourse being digital. And, at the moment its a little bit of an eyesore to me, it just looks like a tablet stuck on the front. I hope future models (1300RT?) will have the TFT more intergrated to fit in dash better. The finish of it,you know what I mean. But hey,Im still running an '02 R1150RT and while its still a decent bike Im defo looking at upgrading but probably not for a few years. But I dunno if Id go with a used 1200RT or new 1250RT..or by then..will probably be the 1300RT ☺️ Hope the TFT is fitted into the dash a little better by then. But hey,maybe thats just me.

A lovely Bike as always, but I wouldn’t give a thank you for the TFT screen. I wish it was an option and that for a cheaper price you could have conventional dials. as for BMW’s satnav system, it’s absolutely dire and trying to connect a phone to It is possibly one of the most frustrating things in my life at the moment. Why couldn’t BMW go for either Apple/android play for better? Still as in the Honda Goldwing standalone satnav system separate from the dash board.
Forgot to mention, put your phone in the wireless charging cubbyhole and it will get cooked also after a two hour ride my phone went from 89% to 15%. It discharges at a far faster rate them this system can charge it.
Another thing with a TV instead of a cockpit; Where are the times when the motorcycle talked to you like a motorcycle, not like an alien🙈 But good - thanks to this I can continue to ride my good-natured Black Beauty ... 😉
i have apple car play on my goldwing, but this solution is far better. if you disconnect your iphone with apple car play (because you have a coffee break or you make a quick picture you have to reconnect everything (motorbike off/on, helmet off/on, connect iphone (on the topcase), unlock iphone, and this process at every quick stop. and only apple, no android!!!

A lotta great features, but forget the days of 'self-maintenance'. Whenever something 'hiccups' now, it's the same as with any modern car.... just to _diagnose_ the problem, it's gotta go straight to the _Dealer!_

About that display, while I like the map integration. Can I have an analog instrument display? Sounds crazy, but sometimes I just like the old school look. Wouldn't mind parking that RT on the left next to my '06 model.
but still I miss the looks of the old dashboard. Speedometer and tachometer. For example as with the XR, there is a digital tachometer selectable in the 'sport' menu

Hilarious that the BMW guys managed in an official video to mount the brackets for the windscreen of the white bike as wrong as can be. Not only that they mounted the left to the right they also mounted the left one upside down. Look at the golden-brown bike how it should look like.
BMW R1250 RT, wonderful bikes, disgraceful support if you need it after your purchase. Try and get the required paperwork to import from country to country. I was told, "we are not interested in helping you". Dealers say the same about BMW, they just arrogantly ignore your needs once the money is paid.
As good as the RT is the price goes up and up and makes beyond the reach of most people. A trend with BMW bikes in general. Shame as I’m looking to trade in my current Beamer.

In over a 100.000km on my GSA I never had to change the brake pads on the road. Are you doing a RTW trip?

I’ve had zero issues with the one on my GSA1250, its not detachable and is solid as a rock.

"Back in the [old] days, reading a map on the tank was a big-time rider distraction." Probably so, but a 12 inch TFT with dozens of functions isn't?
Size does not mater quite much a map is still faaar bigger a small disply isn‘t that big of a problem

A small one! My Samsung Galaxy s22 Ultra doesn't fit. Had to add a Quadlock mount. I think they could have accounted for full size phones.

But Im not totally against the TFT, if say there was an option to have a simulated analog display but ofcourse being digital.
And, at the moment its a little bit of an eyesore, it just looks like a tablet stuck on the front. I hope future models (1300RT?) has the TFT more intergrated to fit in dash better.

Hilarious that the BMW guys managed in an official video to mount the brackets for the windscreen of the white bike as wrong as can be. Not only that they mounted the left to the right they also mounted the left one upside down. Look at the golden-brown bike how it should look like.

BMW R1250 RT, wonderful bikes, disgraceful support if you need it after your purchase. Try and get the required paperwork to import from country to country. I was told, "we are not interested in helping you". Dealers say the same about BMW, they just arrogantly ignore your needs once the money is paid.
As good as the RT is the price goes up and up and makes beyond the reach of most people. A trend with BMW bikes in general. Shame as I’m looking to trade in my current Beamer.
