I know its unlikely this is seen but I wanted to ask an expert, on the topic of the shofars allegedly felling the walls of Jericho, alot of archeological evidence is coming out of Egyptians using sound to manipulate stone, vibrating it to make it easier to move etc, say the Jews knew the frequency the walls of Jericho vibrated at, could they tune enough Shofars to all make the same note with the tech back then? My dad was not so certain on the theory as shofars would all be random shapes and sounds due to being rams horns. And even then the size of the walls would make it difficult, but theoretically if they all blew the same note hard enough, but the question is if they would have been able to tune enough shofars to the same note?
The length of tubing determines tuning.. like tuning slides on brass instruments and the trombone slide. Finer tuning maybe at the length of the venturi shape drilled into the mouthpiece end. Finest tuning achieved by a skilled played with fine adjustments of the embouchere.
How do I clean inside of shofar ?
Shofar Maintenance.
Occasionally when it smells of stale saliva smell. Boil abt 80° 1L mix 1 teaspoon salt and then pour into and flush out the stale saliva. Then drip dry and blow with hairdryer fastest.
Externally if oiling needed then very little otherwise your natural hand oil is sufficient for a sheen.
This’s a natural horn and some horn smell may still remain. It has been thoroughly cleaned of all membrane inside.
