I don't even know where to start, Im like halfway through the video but I still feel inclinded to say:
I have been on this channel since my very first DAYS of making music (Late July 2019). This is the first place I've landed on trying to learn my software (Ableton). I stayed on this channel for everything else I saw you bring to the table. Although it was never a direct mentorship, seeing this video now? Almost makes me want to cry. I've grown as a musician and an artist SO MUCH thanks to you and seeing YOU as a person and a channel evolve in such authentic and genuine way is amazing to watch unfold. Thank you so much for all the great things you've tought me and WILL teach me over the years!

I watch tons of music production videos and vocal and instrument lesson videos and this is the most important video I have seen that directly relates to me. Just recently I put in my journal “I must get back to the reason I fell in love with music to begin with.” So you can imagine how this resonates. Thanks for the nudge.

This is what I have been missing in my life too....learning the technical side of art of music is important too but somehow we just get lost into it and takes it to the point where everything feels robotic..like no emotions are involved at all..the moment we play a note, we start judging our idea..sometimes i feel like I need to go back to the point where I didn't know music and my daw at all but when I was all into it..... exploring and creating new ideas...THANKS FOR POSTING THIS

inspirational. As a lifelong musician and someone who started producing electronic music about 10 years ago when I was in high school, about around 2 years ago, I started to feel discouraged about my music and that it was never going to be good enough or no one cared, and I sort of came to realize that it was because of the way the music industry has transformed with everything needing to become viral or a "hit" or just being popular on social media to measure "success" rather than artistic integrity, and that was not anything that I really cared about, and the pressure from this measurement of what it meant to be "successful" really took a lot of the love of music out for me that I stopped producing for almost an entire year.
Through the last year or so now I came to a revelation that creating music is just something I really just do for the love of it and is a medium I use to express my own thoughts or the way I'm feeling in a particular moment. These things reignited the passion for music for me and I believe is sort of starting to happen industry wide, I want to believe that the "viral music" era is starting to end, and people are looking to find that authenticity in music again and there have been so many artists who are bringing new ideas and sounds to the table and it's really an amazing thing to see.

Bro this is awesome to hear. I really hope you get to read this. I'm in no way a professional musician. My music is a hobby that i thoroughly enjoy. I have been in and out of my music and beat academy for over ten years. Some people on the platform are for certain full-time in their music, and thats great. Many are in jobs, family life, etc. I guess what I'm trying to say is that every human being experiences life outside of our community. Wives, husbands, partners, children, illnesses, jobs, homes, issues, finances, deaths, losses. The list could go on for ages!
I found in my times and conversations on beat academy in the past, life and living was a part of the deal.
Thats the reality! Hope this makes some sense. Thanks so much for your passion and heart for humanity, together with the music we create.

Thx Ivan! Good luck, you‘re on the right path! It‘s always hard to make a living out of your own joyful practice. I opened a hip hop record store cuz I loved the music, djing and culture so much and didn‘t want to become a generic manager of x or y company. it‘s been a ride with not too many financial ups, but i felt i had a purpose. even when music became less and less sellable. and I somewhat got lost on the way not being able to just „play“. when we’re self-employed, anything we do should sell or make sense financially. that‘s worshipping the wrong thing. 💵
being in fear of the future makes us feel like we‘re in that hamster wheel. i think it‘s our brain we need to readjust and find what truly motivates us and what truly gives us back the joy we crave for. given that we can maintain our life doing what needs to be done for a certain amount of time a day.
thanks for your advice and the motivating words during the listening sessions at beat academy. this way i was confident enough to release my first single. 🙏🏻

    Hey Beat Academy,
Your videos aren't just a source of learning for me; They are a library. You don't even know how much you have inspired me. From producing in my little bedroom in a town that nobody has heard of to moving to New York, Life's been uncertain but with the constant of learning from you. While I haven't had the privilege of joining Beat Academy, the content you've shared has been invaluable. It's not only taught me production techniques but also helped me identify where I need to grow as a musician.
You've inspired me to dive deeper into my craft, to reflect, learn, and, most importantly, to overcome the fear of creating by practicing. Practicing the piano if I think my melodies aren't their, practicing the guitar if I think there is more I can harmonically, and practicing producing without fear.
Your video really hit home, reminding me that we're all prone to the self-imposed stress of producing. Hearing that even ill Factor, with all his wisdom, faces these challenges was both comforting and motivating. The algorithm may not favor these videos, but I know many like me appreciate them deeply.

Thank you for sharing this. You're asking important questions that should be asked at least and answered ideally.
Sometimes i found myself questioning "what is for? what am i doing?" when i've been worked on another project. During my 10 years of experience in music production, there's no much musicians that have any global goals for making music. And it's not about business strategy or something - these things are way easier to find, there's a lot of technologies and knowledge out there. It's very personal thing that makes you wanna go forward and enjoying the journey.
I hope you're find your own way to deal with yourself and i appreciate you for all these years of sharing your experience. Thank you! Maybe you're starting a new chapter that will be deeper than tactical production techniques: mindset, psychological things, setting goals - something that the guys from RUclips don't talk about often, but is the most important thing. Maybe it will be something different. We'll see!

Man, I don’t comment often, but I wanted to tell you how much you inspire me both as a producer and as a man ! I’ve been watching your videos for a long time, and with the passion and information I received from them, I went from producing in my bedroom to being signed by a publishing house next month 🙌🏻 When I saw that you made Beat Academy free, I just flipped, and I’m going religiously through all your courses, hoping one day my finances will permit me to get mentorship from you and your team. My goal is to be in the top French producers of the next generation 💪🏻 You bring so much humanity and altruism to this industry, and I can’t wait for you to open more and share more of who you really are, I think we’re ready for this !

Wonderful authenticity. You're bringing the whole self and I can't wait to see what comes of it. Also love that you talked about your involvement in church. How can I connect with you personally?

Have heard of your name in the producer community from some friends who really like your work (and think I'm on an e-mail list haha). This video was a great reminder to everyone out there making music full-time. God bless and wish you all the best Ivan.

    Thank you.
I stopped searching for your videos lately since I stopped my journey producing music.
I loved your teaching style and I love more of you now.

Just found your videos for the first time. I liked this video. I think there’s an issue with isolation in making modern music with the daw and production. I’ve recently really wanted to just get out and play instruments with people

Very good. You have discovered the path that everyone needs to discover. Continue to go forth and do things with purpose, rather than with intent. This is the true path of success in life.
