Accent Reduction: How Indian Speakers Can Master The American English Accent Like a Native Speaker.
Welcome to GB Voice Academy! Home of the Revolutionary, Groundbreaking Accent Reduction Technique called "SOUND MAP" that Is Taking the World By Storm! An accent reduction practice that WILL show instant results!
Welcome to my American English Pronunciation and Voice Coach RUclips Channel! I’ve been teaching people just like you from all around the world how to speak American English with an American accent for over 15 years.
As an Award Winning Broadway Credited Voice, I always found it fascinating when my foreign students would be able to sing a standard American song with a perfect American English accent. Somehow singing completely eliminated their accent. Since that discovery, I have created a proven, groundbreaking, easy to understand, result oriented approach to reduce, and in some cases eliminate the foreign accent completely (don't worry, it doesn't involve you singing LOL!).
Welcome to the Accent Reduction Gym! The ONLY way we can learn how to master the American accent and sounds and rhythms is to retrain our tongue and soft palette muscles to create these American sounds and rhythms that your body is just not used to making. I will be providing you with specific exercises focusing on the sound and feel of specific American "Targeted" sounds and how they link to each and every consonant. In addition, I will share specific singing techniques to help create reliable muscle memory that you can call upon instantly. This technique has helped thousands of my accent reduction students master the American Accent and sound rhythms a lot faster.
By the end of this course you would have gone through every possible combination of sounds. There will be nothing you will come across that we haven't covered in your practice. Our goal is to make sure these improvements are retained, so you can call upon them when you need them. That will involve practicing on your end. If you commit to the practice exercises I provide in this course, you will master the American English sounds and rhythms much faster! Take the first step to propel your career to the next level!

Many accent teachers don;t acknowledge that an accent for anywhere including amercia is an accent. That key understanding of the other accent has enabled you to come up with such an amazing course.

    Great video.
I am originally from Sri Lanka which is in the Indian subcontinent. Our dialect is different. My problem is not the issue of holding the tongue back and creating a different sound which is not compatible with American accent but the rhythm of my sentences, where to put emphasis and where to pause (occasionally the pronunciation.)( Even the British prounce the same word differently.) are the problems. Mind you, I lived in England for a while and acquired that accent but it has faded somewhat, after living here for more than 25 yrs.
I wonder what you recommend people like us.
    Thank You.

I'm doing it just to watch the movies without subtitles. Idk why but Tom cruise's accent is best. I can hear him without subtitles.

I too try to help people with east Indian accent, and the main problem I have with students/clients is that they don't seem to believe they don't have to put in the time to create the muscle memory. Master musicians put in thousands of hours of practice, as do professional athletes. So must anyone hoping to learn an accent overnight, it doesn't.

Indians fail to aspirate the "p, t, k and ch".
To aspirate means to blow out a puff of air while making those consonantal sounds.
It is the main reason, among others, why the very heavy Indian accent is so easily detected.

Because Hindi language dont have that equivalent for T. south indian accents are much different.. For eg,. if you take language like Malayalam there are 2 type of T equivalents, one to accomodate Sanskrit based words and one for non sanskrit based words

But please note that, that does not mean south indian accents are closer to american accent or British accent...we have our own accent problems depending on which region.
It is very ironic that although the majority of IT guys in US are from south, the accents, culture, food depicted in US about Indians is north indian.. The food u know mostly, dance culture u heard of and even these accents are mostly north indian, but most indians who come there for software jobs or similar job profiles are from south.
South has 4 language - tamil, telugu, malayalam and Kannada...
But there comes the useful ness of your great content. Please make more videos focusing on other pronunciation aspects thar can help indians, but kindly focus the accent issues beyond the stereotypes.
Let me reiterate, your videos are super helpful... Even this video, some parts were really helpful eventhough i dont have a north indian accent... Pls make more videos for indians..(our English has become a chutney with British English as base+indian language influence +american movies😭)

I have a question, why one needs to change one's native slang, as long as the communication is well taken care of, including grammar. Trying to learn the other person's slang is only to extend comfort to the other person, in his proper understanding of what is communicated to him, isn't it? If the answer is a big yes, then isn't it correct if I say, it is the Americans, who must practice British accent, think it over. I know, it might not make sense to most, but that is my view.
Further, (in my humble opinion) the freedom that is given to one in effective communication is the one which paves way for language development, on this backdrop, if we try to train ourself in accent reduction, we are actually trying to emulate the way the other man speeks and we don't do that with any other language (except in English and that too, American).
We (Indians, and verious other countries too) do not expect any outlander to speak our languages the way we speak,( it comes naturally to anyone over a period of time), we welcome them to speak anywhichway they could and we appreciate that for their interest and efforts. It is also a fact that good number of Indians speak much better English, when compared to an American speaking any of the Indian languages, is that not enough. Just a point to poinder, think it over.

We remove the t, d, th sounds the way we do because of our mother tongues Hindi and Marathi. We have alphabets in those languages ट, ड, थ and that's why our t, d, th sound like that 😉. To speell those alphabets in Hindi or Marathi, the tongue has to go backwords or it wont sound right in Hindi. Thanks for the video btw.
