Dude, I loved this book. I can't recommend it enough. Joel underrates himself as a writer.
Agreed! Joel did an amazing job with both of his books yet he remains very humble about it.

Awesome! Chopper pilot myself. First book coming soon!
After getting out of the US Navy I wanted to join the French Foreign Legion. This was my dream growing up in Maisons Alfort outside of Paris. Instead, the US Navy was assigned to the 7th Fleet. Met several French sailors in the Pacific. They had the homoerotic shorts I have seen in my life.
you don't enter so easily in the french forein legion you know! they will test you mentaly and physically they have levels of test and if you are not good at sports and mentaly you will reject! as a french i know how they do it and they took the most good enough for us ! sometimes there will be some desillusion ..
@@user-dh6yy9sk9p No, it's not that hard to enter the Legion, the entry test are pretty basic, i was not an athlete and i joined the Legion in 91 and after was in the 2ème REP.
@@chrisdelaplante5515 hm you think so ? ME NOTyou are french aren't you like me you know that they are really strict and i know that just because i 've don my service just athe side of 2 rei on the regular army and my mother wedded a legionnary soldier of the 2rei so i know ...

Fantastic interview, I am always a fan of him and I love the legion
Don't mess with legionaires - they have learned self respect and self discipline - which is why they go through you or over you...never around you.
Fascinating. We've never met but we've moved a bit in similar circles (not the Legion) and know some people in common in BC. Regretfully, I have yet to read either book... but I plan to.
This should be recast as an interview between Trevor Noah and David Oyelowo. Cohasset style!

Can legionnaires be deployed on the streets of France to quell the violence taking over the country?
i've seen legionnaires on the streets after 9/11 with other member of the army but the threat was "foreign"...."domestic" violence isn't part of their job.
Non.
As I understand they are for foreign policy enforcement. Plus it would be a bad look for the legion to beat up civilians.
No, Legionnaires are like other french soldiers they are in the military. It's the police duty to face domestic violence, and believe me they are very good for this and well trained, the problem is not the police, they can break any crowd but it's a politic choice to not send the police.
no they can't only the president can order this for the legion.

It is a wild career but as an African and Muslim Europe needs to stop exploiting Africa.
They will not
@@emmanuelawosusi2365 They will, and already are slowing down.
