The bull was just walking forward to have a look. A charge happens when a bull, but mostly cows, are coming fast to kill you. Been there, done that.

I am sorry that happened to you, unfortunately that does happen, seldom but it happens, generally on a new gun, why that is I don't know. My dad had a brand new Mk.V in the 1980's, and the wrist cracked while sighting it in. They took care of my old man, I'm betting they take care of you too. Best of luck man.
