Thank you! You are the man! I was literally on the Check-Out area when I decided to watch another review of SmudgeGuard. I ended up buying a pair of cotton gloves for 2 dollars off Walmart and I'm happy with it. You just saved 20 bucks!
You are 100% right ! im using Cintiq 22HD for 5years now and no need of original Smudgeguards ! Im using ordinary cotton glove with cutted off fingers and works perfect ! When it gets dirty, I can normaly wash it and it works again ! NO bad effect on screen !
Thanks for the advice! That's what I was thinking of doing, but I had wondered if the glove needed to be made of a special material or something...nice to know a cheap cloth glove will do the trick. You just saved me some money! Subscribed!
Thanks for this. My cintiq should arrive tomorrow and I was wondering about accessories. Now I have to figure out if the adapter is included, I didn't realize I might not be able to plug right into my computer. Great videos, thanks for taking the time.
+Julie Stancato Thanks for watching Julie, I bet you are super excited for it arriving! If it doesn't have an adapter you should be able to get one really cheap so I wouldn't worry about it too much. As you saw in this video, I recommend a smudge guard ( or a glove of course! ) but I would also recommend a screen protector, they are a bit pricey depending on where you are based, it's not 'needed' but if you press on the screen quite hard / with a lot of pressure, you can get little scratches, I purchased an FX cintiq screen protector off Amazon just to be on the safe side. Admittedly I am paranoid about scratches though :D Let me know how it all turns out tomorrow!
When I check the materiel of the glove it's made out of spandex. Which I have a lot left over from my Spider-Man costumes. So I can make one if not better for no money.
I have 3 of them and enough materiel to make 3 more. I made a tutorial on making a spidey suit. I have bins full of just spandex. So because I'm getting the cintiq 27 qhd. I just made a smudge guard you of some random scraps. I ended up making 4 smudge guard with less then a quarter of a meter. So I might of spent $1.50 pure glove and it's the same materiel as the one you just bought.
i also got a smudgeguard. i have the one that only covers the pinky. and luckily i got the right size... so i really can't complain. great review btw and a nice tip on the diy glove. keep up the amazing videos… i'd love to see your channel grow. you definitely deserve more attention!!! i the very near future i will do a shout out video to some smaller youtube channels i like and that i'd like to push. you will be in there as well!
Sorry dude I just replied by writing on your youtube channel by accident, haha. Thanks for the share and the comment though buddy. Really appreciate you helping my channel too! Hopefully as my channel grows I will be able to help you back too! huge fan of your videos! Ste
I've been wondering if I should get a Smudeguard glove and thank you for this honest review. I've been using a plain cotton glove I got from the local pharmacy (just cut off the first two digits and thumb). Honestly, it's been working out great for me. And the gloves are dirt cheap. (I think I paid $5 for two pair.) Only down side is they're so cheaply made that I don't think they'd survive a trip through the washer. LOL
bryceowen haha yeah I haven't put mine through the washer yet for that same reason! It's easier to just buy more but unfortunately they are not as easy to get hold of in the summer! Thanks for watching :)
Thanks for the heads up. I'll know to avoid Smudge Guard. I'm currently looking for a glove to use with my Wacom MobileStudio Pro and I've come across names like Ugee and Huion and their products look pretty good. Still looking for a review that's as honest and as informative as yours. There is a downside to using DIY gloves. The fabric that winter heating gloves and socks are made of will heat your hand and will cause you to sweat, which will make your screen dirty and will trigger touch input. I've tried using a heat resistant glove that came bundled with a hair curler once and touch input was still triggered, not to mention the damn thing was incredibly loose and my fingers didn't reach the edges of the sockets in the glove.
Thanks so much for this video. This smudgeguard seems like just another hook for selling digital artists crap that they don't ultimately need, I'm glad you've saved me $15.
the problem with using a winter gloves is after some time your hand gets all hot and sweaty. i ended up buying a smudge guard and love it, mine fits like a glove lol... but no for real it fits perfect so you might have got the wrong size.
I have very sweaty hands regardless of what I use ha :P so for me in a sense it's not an issue, instead I use a shock therapy that stops my hands sweating and then I can wear any glove. Maybe I should have just purchased a smudge guard that's a bit smaller, that being said the one I have is fine to use, I just end up using a glove for some reason, force of habit maybe. Thanks for watching and commenting :)
You mind doing a review of the huion artist glove? I heard it instead stretches to fit your hand, which is why there doesn't seem to be any set sizes, and it's fairly cheap £8.99
+Jed Potter Hey man, I could always purchase one next time I need a new glove, do you have a link to the huion artists glove you mentioned? Thanks for watching
Nice review, here in Poland when you buy cintiq or other wacom tablet you can get Smudgeguard for 1 pln (0,25$) or Smudgeguard 2 for 10 pln (2.5$ or 1,7GBP), which is very low price so i will buy it anyway. Thanks for knowing that i should be carefull with smudgeguard size :)
Yay im not the only one who sweats when they draw!! :D BTW nice review it really will save me some money as I plan on getting a cintiq later on in my carrer.
Haha yep I am afraid I do too, most of the time it's not really a problem, every now and again it's a pain in the ass though! Thanks for the comment, let me know how you find it if you do get one :)
So, I have some questions: 1. What kind of material are we talking here? Silk? Plain old Cotton? 2. I have an iPad that I use, and I've always been frustrated by the fact that I pretty much have to turn the touch screen off in order to sketch with it. This is a problem, because I often like to zoom in and out and stuff like that - which means I have to finagle a bunch of menus to do some relatively simple things. Would you use something like this so that your drawing hand does not interfere with touch screens?
I don't think it would help. Touch screens work in a way that you don't even have to touch it. Simply, there is a bunch of invisible wires under the glass. When your finger gets close enough, the current on these wires changes and a controller tells the device where your finger is (are). Some software methods are used to prevent your problem, but it cannot be fixed with a glove, unless there is a really thick layer of it.
WilkBialy J Good question! I am actually going to make a video on this at some point :)I went for a long time without a cover and i never had any noticable scratches, like you I have a soft hand. however eventually there were some tiny scratches you could see in some lights etc.. so i decided to do it for peace of mine. Its a lot better for me but it is very reflective!
Hah I was actually wearing a cut up soft gardening glove I use with my Intuos at the moment when I saw that you did the exactly same thing. Arent winter gloves too thick though? I'd imagine your hand gets really sweaty after using it for hours and hours in the summer.
brandy1999 Great minds think a like ;) The gloves I use are not actually too thick for winter gloves, I think they are known as 'magic gloves' intended to use with smart phones so you can touch the screen through the glove, a silly gimick probably, but my point being it probably isnt too thick!. I have sweaty hands anyway but I have a good fix for that that stops them completely, I am tempted to make a video on it in the future. Thanks for watching :)
Really good review, I think I've got some old gloves lying around somewhere... hehe. Keep up the good work, l'll look forward to seeing more from a fellow UK artist :D
Its great to see people giving honest opinions. Your right its ridiculous...but there is a great option which I found which looks and works great. Its called the XP-Pen glove, search it. It cost me 8€ which is around 6 pounds 50. Search it...Oh by the way..its 1 size fits all...LOL.
Thanks for this! I might end up buying a pair of cheaper lining gloves, the sort that you put on before ski gloves, I think the fit might be better than what the pound shop has to offer. £30 for a 'smudge guard' is ridiculous. I won't buy a pair out of principle.
its the same with pen nibs, way overpriced for what they are, I made my own glove too works much better and I make my nibs from round strimmer wire in size 1.65mm -1.8mm if you can find the latter, cut to size and sand the end with superfine paper or round it off on gf's hair straighteners the flat hot iron works great to get a really smooth glossy round nib tip. Good vid that just tells it like it is :) nice one.
you said your cost 32 pounds+ 2-3 weeks, i live in germany and buy at the official website, and it cost me only around 20€ (22.49$ inculing shipping fee) and 10 days delivery. I suggest you do some research before buying (pls don't kill me). Did you messure your hand before buying, cuz there is a ruler the official website for choosing the right size. But i like the idea about cut off 3 fingers glove xD
I think I got the medium, but I have heard other people saying they purchased one and it fit fine, so maybe my hands are just in between the sizes :( Let me know how you find it when it arrives :)
Thanks for watching Eli. I don't know much about that glove, I googled it though and it does look the same as the smudge guard by Wacom, possibly a great alternative. Although without seeing one I couldn't say if the material is the same or not. Thanks again :)
***** I was definitely disappointed with the fit of the glove, as when paying as much as that I would expect it to match the measurements given. I think that's fair! :) either way it's usable so it's not a huge problem.
yea turn it inside out to re-sow the tips. ive done that before! i just ordered one prior to seeying this and emailed them to chnage the size. i rather have something a little more tight than loose when drawing.
got wrong size? he used the measurement chart and if you listened to a word he said you wouldve noticed that the glove was tight in some places and loose in others. what would you call a review? was "GREAT PRODUCT FANTASTIC BUY IT NOW" what you were looking for? reviews are supposed to be honest numbnuts.
Thanks for being real here. The price is for this prefabricated glove is just ridiculous.

Chris Wells Thanks for the sub! :)
another way to prevent sweating when your hands are active with gaming or drawing, is to wear a wrist band. You might not think it'd help but it does.
Thanks for this. My cintiq should arrive tomorrow and I was wondering about accessories. Now I have to figure out if the adapter is included, I didn't realize I might not be able to plug right into my computer. Great videos, thanks for taking the time.

thank you. i almost bought one, i have the same exact cheapo glove
I was in splits when you held your hand towards the camera with the smudgeguard :)
XD

what you think about the screen protection, cintiq have a month and not a single scratches, have a very soft hand :)

you are soo helpful my friend, i watch all your videos :)
***** Thank you for your support :)
Thanks for help, before i saw this video i didnt know why you should use it. :D
I am glad it was of some use :)
I am totally hacking a cheap glove! I thought that the smudge guard was a bit of a gimmick. Thanks for the review!
+BladesOfMunch Definitely the best way! Thanks for watching my smudge guard video :)

learningasidraw at least you know some usefull info now :D
Haha, great review, thanks for the tip! ;D
+TeaGadd :D thanks for watching!
i just ordered one from dokiwear.com.. they look a lot better :)
+nihost Not seen those ones before, look very futuristic! But does it do much more then an ordinary glove..
funny and nice review_^^
park8241 haha thank you! I am glad you liked it :)
made my own out of a latex glove and dryer sheet lol
Brilliant XD gets the job done!
What size glove did you get? I ordered mine today before I saw your review (God dammit).
I think I got the medium, but I have heard other people saying they purchased one and it fit fine, so maybe my hands are just in between the sizes :( Let me know how you find it when it arrives :)
Thanks, LAID. I most certainly will :) (hehe, laid..)
Haha that is the first time I have ever noticed that... pretty funny though!
Cool video, thanks a lot!! Do you you know the Huion Artist Glove? learningasidraw
Thanks for watching Eli. I don't know much about that glove, I googled it though and it does look the same as the smudge guard by Wacom, possibly a great alternative. Although without seeing one I couldn't say if the material is the same or not. Thanks again :)
I use a cotton glove, cost $3. Want a picture I can send !
That is ridiculous. Should be $15 unless you've got some cool graphics printed on it
Haha yep!
so basically u dont like it cause you had to pay full price and it dint fit? hmm.. kinda sounds like ur pissed off to me. :P

that's a good idea actually i may have to try that one! I think I would agree about preferring a tight fit too :)
Just buy a billiard glove for $5
+Phil Koenig the billiard glove is useless since it's the other two fingers than the ones you need
I lol'd! You are right :))
Well that was pointless. Basically; "Got wrong size, overpriced, DIY is better"
not really what I call a review...
got wrong size? he used the measurement chart and if you listened to a word he said you wouldve noticed that the glove was tight in some places and loose in others. what would you call a review? was "GREAT PRODUCT FANTASTIC BUY IT NOW" what you were looking for? reviews are supposed to be honest numbnuts.
You order wrong size so what are you expect ?!
I used the measurements provided on the website, so yeah.. i expected it to fit those measurements..
