This song makes me so happy. Perfectly describes the beginning of my relationship with my boyfriend/baby's father who passed before our baby was born. We were just friends falling in love when I worked at a law firm an hour away from my hometown. He would pick me up every Friday and drive me home to hang for the weekend. Everything the song says describes us during those days ♡ Ironically, we pretty much fell in love to John Mayer's sad song, "Burning Room" when we played it on repeat for like a whole day plus some and talked with our hearts. I cherish those times and the songs we shared. I'm married now and very much in love but that doesn't mean that my love for him has faded. I love him. And love looking into my baby boy's eyes and seeing his bio daddy. ♡♡♡

its the production quality as well as formula of lyrics!
Luis Torres the difference is Battle studies lyrics were all about heartbreak, this is an uplifting feel good song about love. that's what I like about this one.
the heartbreak is what made is so deep... not too crazy about his "Who You Love", "XO" type songs......give me some "Slow Dancing in a Burning Room" and "Splitscreen Sadness"
Mathieu Mackay well XO was just a cover, but battle studies is definitely a deep album, but the positivity of this song brings out a John mayer we haven't seen In a while. He's on a great path musically, and I think this is going to surprise alot of people with how great this albums gunna be compared to his last two, which weren't bad at all, but I think many, many people want the continuum singer/songwriter back, and I think this album will produce on those levels.

Paradise Valley and Born & Raised are excellent albums. They didn't attract as much attention because of their folk and country vibes, but they were never lacking in quality.

It's cause none of you even gave Born and Raised or Paradise Valley a chance. I actually thought they were not as good on first few listens, but Born & Raised is even better than Continuum imo. Continuum is not as mature. It's a tie between Continuum and Paradise Valley for me, while Born and Raised is the best Mayer album so far. Listen to tracks like "If I Ever Get Around to Living" or "Speak For Me", "Queen of California", "Born and Raised".

It wouldn't be out of place on Battle Studies, but to my ears it's closer to Heavier Things. Continuum was my favorite of his albums (one of my favorite albums from any artist) with battle studies being second best and heavier things third.

Exactly man...people have gotten so impatient for the release of master musicianship and they don't even realize that to actually fulfill and deliver great music, it takes time, money and complicated deals. It's sad though that a lot of people have forgotten about the recording portion of music...the sound quality is constantly getting more noisy and lazy, but Mayer keeps it real.
Isaac Peterson as for me though, I absolutely like this song. I'm sort of the in the middle fan, i like everything that he puts out. Not just the poppy love songs that girls love but as well as the bluesy stuff. I know he won't disappoint.
