Before the Toronto Maple Leafs moved to the Air Canada Centre, I had the opportunity to play on that ice surface twice. Both times, it was a magical experience. The sound of the glass and the way the puck came off the boards was unlike any arena I had played in. I was used to local arenas Bolton and long before that, Woodbridge Memorial Arena. (before it was rebuilt)
Best arenas ranking: 1. Maple Leafs Garden 2. Joe Louis Arena 3. The Capital Center 4. Reunion Arena 5. Memorial Auditoreum 6. Winnipeg Arena 7. Miami Arena 8. Richfield Coliseum 9. Mutal Street Arena
Can't talk about the Winnipeg Arena without also talking about the MASSIVE portrait of Queen Elizabeth II that hung at one end of the complex. It was about 16.5 feet tall, and 10 feet wide, and weighs nearly 600 lbs. In practices, Jets players would try to hit it with pucks. If there was a defining feature of the old Barn, it was that portrait.
Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver, the former home of the Vancouver Canucks. It's technically still around, but it's not used for hockey anymore. It's used for concerts and exhibitions.
3:31 That was a great arena and the sound was crazy during games . Unfortunately the new arena sucks and if you’re claustrophobic don’t attend any events there.
Yes you are. Even though they've both been repurposed, Maple Leaf Gardens and Montreal Forum are STILL standing. There are a few more standing as well.
@@jayanxiety I was thinking more about in “original” state. I’ve been to Toronto and Montreal. I guess what meant was a facility that still can host a a game in a regulation rink.
Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver, Philips Arena (Now called State Farm Arena) in Atlanta, The Forum in LA, and Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale are still standing
To whomever narrates these videos, please check the correct pronunciation of cities and team names! And how could you forget the original Boston Garden? Chicago Stadium? Philadelphia Spectrum? Also, Buffalo’s Memorial Auditorium was where Led Zeppelin was supposed to kick off their 1980 Tour
Which of these arenas was your favorite?
The Spectrum in Philadelphia is where I saw all the games of my childhood in the early to mid 70's. Loved that building.
the buffalo saaaabb rays 🤣🤣🤣
😂😂
Ya, I caught that one.
😂😂😂😂
Gilbert Parryalt was my favorite Sahbray.
This stabbed my heart lol
I used to own a Saab Ray. Great gas mileage and reliability.

How about the Northlands Coliseum/Rexall Place in Edmonton home to the WHA/NHL Edmonton Oilers?!!! From 1979-2016 I think...
My formative years were spend at Winnipeg Arena. Greet childhood memories there.

Maple Leaf Gardens exists. The Metropolitan University Lions piay there.
And it a loblaws too
The fact the Joe isn't around makes me sad as a wings fan I always wish I could've gone
The Richfield Coliseum feels like a weird arena to me, being built in an open field in the middle of nowhere.
And only lasted for 2 season in the NHL... to bad 👎 😅
So when did the Saw Brays become the Sabres?
Saw my first game at Maple Leaf Gardens as well as my first concert
Good job
What happened to the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, MI?
I believe Reunion Arena was the last professional sports venue to be built without luxury suites.
Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver, the former home of the Vancouver Canucks.

Le colisé de Québec was my favorite
How does someone pronounce Sabres as Saab Rays LOL
frenchy style lol
It said St. Louie in the first one.
Because hockey in the UK, little more than the NHL is not very popular sadly.
All I'm hearing is owners are greedy as hell with their stupid luxury boxes

KHL arenas pls
Sabers, is pronounced “say bers” you know, like the sword which is prominent in their logo. 😂
Old Boston Arena (now Matthews Arena)?
Chicago Stadium. !
chicago stadium is in part 1
Am I wrong thinking the San Francisco Cow Palace is the only former NHL arena still standing?
Yes you are. Even though they've both been repurposed, Maple Leaf Gardens and Montreal Forum are STILL standing. There are a few more standing as well.
