I've been going through several "How To" videos on replacing the carburetor on a Stihl and found your video to absolutely be the best instructions. Simple, concise, and very easy to follow. Thanks for a great "How To"!!
Very informative. I would have like a little more detail on what you did at the end to adjust the carburetor, but over all it was excellent. Thank you.
I just came for a refresher. My tank was leaking like the ocean when I turned the weedeater sideways. So I had to remove the carb to change that green gasket. It was very loose when I went to take it out. Great video.
Thanks for sharing the detailed steps on replacing the carb, fuel lines, and fuel filter on the STIHL FS55. I have a model FC55 and the carb, fuel lines, etc., etc., were the same as your FS55 so I was able to replace those three items using your great instructions today.
I loved it! I have never done anything like this before, but the video was so easy to follow, there wasn't a hiccup and my trimmer runs like a charm once again. Thank-you.
Great video. I really appreciate how simply you explain everything. Showing pictures of the two different gas lines (old and new) was especially helpful. I definitely feel confident to do this myself. Bravo!
It costs a little more to have a pre-spooled line, but when you're in the middle of a trimming job ruclips.net/user/postUgkx429xwEjNPnwzQohFrURRyKF51YfOD_Du , it is so nice to just pop out the old one and pop in a new one. Love Black & Decker tools. Especially the 20-volt battery operated ones. And, as usual, it came on time. Thanks Amazon!
super clear instructions!! I am going to see if you have instructions on how to adjust the carburetor. You did a great job and that is always a challenge for me. Thanks for good video closeups!
Just got one and bogs down. New spark filters and carb but same problem. It does not have a spark arrestor fitted. Do you know if this missing part would make it big down?
Hi mate, I replaced the coil with an aftermarket and tried to start it plenty of spark but I’m able to start I have clean the carburettor and still not starting can you please give some advice. Thanks
Do you recommend the aftermarket carburetors that I'm easily finding online that comes with both gaskets, fuel line assembly and air filter? I'm not finding anywhere to purchase genuine Stihl parts.
You can get genuine Stihl carbs and parts on ebay, but they're not cheap.. a generic carb can be bought for $12-$15.. An OEM Stihl carb is around $40-$50.. I've used both.. not much difference..
@@pimpinpenz Update: So I received the HUZTL C1Q-S97 Carburetor which is supposed to fit my FS55, reviews were all good for the most part. Got the carb installed with the new fuel lines, gaskets and air filter, started the machine and it ran as long as I kept it throttled, would not idle. I tried to adjust the low speed screw in and out and it had no effect whatsoever. So I throttled up and attempted to adjust the high speed screw, and it had absolutely no effect either. I watched another video and he suggested turning both screws all the way in to seated and out 1 1/4 turn and fine tune from there, again I did this with no effect at all. Also, a couple of the negative reviews had this same issue. Any ideas?
Dee Jordan does the machine rev up okay? It could be that the idle screw is backed out too far? Also with these aftermarket carburetors I’ve had luck with adjusting the high speed first for some reason. I will rev the machine full out and adjust the high speed screw until it revvs the highest and then back it out 1/16th of a turn. Then I will proceed to adjust the low speed screw until the machine idles the fastest and then back the screw out 1/16th to 1/8th of a turn. I then adjust the idle screw until the idle sounds proper to me. I hope this can help you out. If not if you purchased on amazon you should be able to get your money back easily as I’ve had a similar issue happen to me with an echo machine in the past. The carburetor that I got would not fill the primer bulb. They issued me a refund. I hope this helps. Thanks for commenting.
Before you give up on the carb, be sure you have good gas and a cleaned spark arrestor. A dirty spark arrestor will cause symptoms which will lead you to the carb or other fuel side issues.
I’m just trying to replace my fuel filter,,,my fuel lines r fine. However if I take them off the carb do I need to replace them once I take them off because of there air getting in the fuel line u we’re talking about?
If youre only removing the fuel filter, no need to remove the carburetor, Just remove the filter through the fuel tank opening. If you remove them from the carburetor theres a chance for an air leak. Causing a lean run condition.
@@pimpinpenz I think he means "Will air in that hose be bad" the answer is. NO don't worry about it. Air in your gas would be hard to avoid, especially off road.
@pimpinpenz , have you come across an FS 55 with no high/low screws? I've looked everywhere, there's no hidden holes with plastic caps covering secret adjustment screws. I take it this type of carb is nonadjustable?
I have come across the same situation with the FS55. I'm guessing that they had a change in carburetor style, later in the production run. Even looking at parts diagrams, none will show the the Zama hidden screw version. They all show the adjustable style. Probably had too many warranty claims with the hidden screw version that couldn't be resolved without replacing the carburetor.
Just replaced the carbs on BOTH my fs55'S for $40. New plugs and I'm still having trouble getting them to run. adjusted the carbs (to factory sets) and still NOTHING!. I guess the next thing is to put some acid on the piston and clean it. Then check my mufflers. but dam I was hoping they would just start up. I've got 10 acres and have been waiting for the carbs to come in. I rebuilt the originals also as backups (bulbs went)
It was the spark arrestor, anyone having carb problems I suggest you start there! Cleaned my coil magnet a little also and starts first pull. Don't even think I needed the new carbs after all. Steps for checking Stihl carb 1. Check/remove Spark Arrestor 2. Clean carb 3. Clean Coil and lube everything. It will always Stihl run!
All geared up today, trying to start the dam thing, than figure out, that the top fuel line is shered of, broken plastic, ooo that your problem... So im here... (^_-)

@@GINGELL1982 Great video thanks, I just replaced the carb on mine and it is up and running. Now I need to figure out the double line spool.
Fantastic thank you. Stihl workshop wanted $150 for a new carb. Aliexpress delivered on for $18 and you clip showed me how to install. Thanks again

My thoughts EXACTLY (no explanation on how he adjusted the high & low)
Great job
How did you tune the carb
