Note: Out of respect and courtesy for others, I refrain from naming spots unless it's a very popular spot. I don't mind others mentioning the spot it in the comments and I often leave enough evidence for those that want to find the spot, to be able to work it out from the video.
New videos every week!

This is actually my second vlog for this lure as you may have heard, I lost the data to the first one where I rigged it backwards as well (with the tail cut off). I found I got more bites rigged head first
Ahhh the old head first method. totally depends on if you fish the Georges or Sydney harbour. In Sydney Harbour prawns swim backwards, in the Georges prawns swim forwards. Except on Wednesdays and sometimes Mondays they don't swim. i will be honest with you, I am extremely bored and need to entertain myself. Good fun video.
@@castonethousand6675 Help me edit my video for tomorrow then lol. Nah but seriously, a late one for me tonight. Prawns swim head first but when they panic and try to flee predators, they do short sharp jumps backward.
@@ShroomFishing hahaha yeah me help you edit, you obviously haven't watched my first youtube vid. I can catch fish but I cant edit to save my life :)
Shroom I honestly don’t understand why there’s always them few people that dislike your vids. Been watching you for ages and love your content keep up the good work champ 👌🏻
Thanks mate! Neither do I but everyone is entitled to their opinion and I respect that. All I can do is hope people watch the video, like and share in support of it! That's the best way to get the video out to other people!
Thanks for the laughs @Shroom! I've been fishing around the inner west on the Parra quite a bit and have been landing heaps of fatties but the Bream seem to be few and far between. I often launch my boat from that ramp and laughed when you pulled out a bream from under the wharf, when I run all around the river looking for them! Keep up the good work.
Thanks a lot Alf! The flatties are certainly on the chew and the bream are a bit slow still for some odd reason. Haha, right under our noses the bream are!
Cool vid Shroom! Love your patience for people and their silly questions 😂
Thanks Rob, I am very patient and I think they really enjoyed the conversation!
Waited patiently for this one!
Thanks Adam, I can't believe I lost the first vlog of this! Still caught more flatties than bream (including a small tarwhine), tried rigging them backwards too. I'd still hoping to throw them when I get onto a good bream bite
Very entertaining Shroombo!
Thanks allreadydone! I really appreciate the feedback!
excellent session Shroom you make it look so easy will need to get some of those shrimp lures and have a crack
Seems easy on the flathead John! The bream are a harder proposition at this stage though!
Rain, hail or shine you put in the hard yards for another great video.
The flathead must have been side by side almost for you today.
Well done enjoyed the video.
Thanks Hilton. I've been fishing in the rain so often that I almost expect to be in the rain now haha. How was that flathead bite, it was red hot 👍
Great video Shroom !
I sometimes have my driver break down there , see some big splashes when it is dark and high tide so I would guess the bream are coming right up to the rock wall to feed - maybe an unweighted presentation just before dawn and on a high tide would produce a few .
I have seen a lot of poddy mullet around the ramp and had a sneaking suspicion the flathead wouldn’t be far away! I need to get me some of those lures , I reckon they would be dynamite up on the flats for Whiting , bream and flatties .
I reckon if that was a clear ,bright sunny day with no wind the fishing would have been much tougher !
From my personal experiences Ian even in the lost vlog, the flatties love em and can't say no! There's plenty of bream in the Parramatta river, but they seem to pull a large percentage of flathead. I'm going to keep trying if the opportunity presents during a bream bite and see what happens!
Great session Shroom i usually grab the jig & pull hard to see if the line breaks from jig eye ,better safe than sorry losing a bigger model...
Thanks George. I don't know what happened to my reply, I noticed there isn't one here now! Yeah I tried to grab the jighead lead, but it needed a few more cms and it got me before I could!
Looks mad shroom awesome work
They look awesome Nathan, bite sized but surprisingly the flatties love them more than the bream
@@ShroomFishing haha
Cleaned up shrooms. 👏👏👏👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🎣🎣
Thanks N Brownie, those flatties just hop right on! 😎👍
Hey mate, would you reckon the sprayed grass and the petal trout collur from Daiwa Baitjunkie would work for those flatties, Taylor, salmon and kingie on overcast days?
Shroom Never disappoints !
Thanks Chan! It was a good run with those lures
There are an insane amount of small tailor around at the moment. They have destroyed so many of my plastics recently. Nice vid!
Yep, I've experienced that with these lures. They are popping up everywhere
Nice little session mate . May give it a try there over the weekend . 👍🎣
Let me know how you go David, I reckon you'll at least slay a few flatties
@@ShroomFishing will do mate . 👍 have been doin a lot of bass fishing at Parramatta under the Church Street bridge , or the lennox bridge , for good results champ . Cought me PB there , 42 cms , too big to actually pickup , had to lip grip it . The video is on my FB page if your interested, along with other catches and releases . I just post what i catch on fb for anyone to have a look . 👍🎣
@@davidshaul5265 Nice one David! I haven't caught a good bass out of that in a long time and 42 is a great PB!
Nice session Shroom, that lure did some damage.
True that Thamma, I can't believe how many flathead were landed that day!
Hey man with the warragamba dam flooding I'm wondering if there's trout to be had near Penrith lol. Love your vids. I caught my first fish on lures a few weeks ago and your videos were the inspiration. Sometimes we fish the same spots and when I question if anyone catches there I remind myself you did. Even this spot here I think.
There will be Denis. Probably will be a likely prospect in the immediate future. Thanks for the support, it really helps me out when people like watching them and all those good stuff (liking, commenting, sharing which does heaps). Most spots produce decent fish but it depends a lot on time, conditions and techniques.
You always make my Thursday’s even better after a long day at school
Thanks Christopher! That comment made my day
Awesome vid awesome spot too. My first time on Parra river on a yak was there. See you sat for beers :)
Thanks Jorre! Great place for a yak, such a nice bay that one! Prepping for Sat tomorrow night!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 let’s goooo
Yewwww fireball squad coming thru! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥😎
what plastics should i use on small snappers nothing bigger then 40 cm
They love gulp jerkshads, and sandworms. Anything with scent gets them going
Where is this at?
Well done bro👏BTW,what’s the pound of your braid and leader line?
Thanks bro! Braid a bit light for me, 8lb/0.5PE (I usually use 0.6PE) and 6lb Sunline FC Rock
He may have burlyed the water 😂😂
Plenty from what I saw, it was like chumming haha
Nice one mate. Loved how you pulled that Bream at the ramp. So is that waterway too polluted to eat the fish ?
Thanks Tim and yeah it's so good to pull one from a targetted cast. Yes, everything west of the Harbour Bridge is catch and release
awesome session champion, flathead are definitely switched on to prawn lures at the moment, first time i used them in the bloodworm colour i had similar results, 90 % flathead, 7 % bream, and 3% Taylor biting the tail off, great lure when it's rigged right, get it wrong and it spins or leans over when retrieved, and could be a bit more tougher and better tear resistance , great video champion, will they remain in your tackle bag or something you will use now and then, as i think the MMD soft prawn is a better bait, considering it comes pre rigged with Hidden weight hook, that let's the lure glide, but very similar look and size,
Thanks Anthony! Good to know that I haven't lost my touch with the breambos! I think the lures are a great prawn imitation and I certainly want to see how they perform when the bream bite is back to normal. Before throwing them, I thought for certain it had all the hallmarks of a top bream lure so I'm still hoping to get into a proper braem session to find out.
@@ShroomFishing I recently purchased the disco violet colour that is pretty much clear plastic with violet and black flake through it that gives the whole lure a shimmering almost pearl violet look but Very subtle. and it definitely attracted more bream follows than the blood worm colour, so the jelly prawn imitation colour could be better for you, but that was in very clean water at Glebe, so Camouflage or bloodworm should do better in dirtier water i think, not sure as haven't tested the disco violet in dirty water yet, so it will be interesting once the season comes on as you said,
@@anthonycox1870 I'll look into that colour. It was going to be 3rd choice but I decided to get colours I knew would work from the get go. It might be the best colour for bream by the sounds of it
I fish that bay a lot. Yep it’s 8:1 flathead to bream.
Some years it's been better, a lot more bream and whiting but these days it does seem that a safe bet it's a flathead now
Nice
shroom😍
Thanks Alex! 😎👍
😍😍😍😍😍
Thanks Jamie, you remembered! 🔥🔥🔥 squad!
What's your pb bream out of interest bro?
James, it's 47.5cm. It's in this video here: ruclips.net/video/icfVaLHV2s4/видео.html
Shroom what’s the best bait for brim
Tough one as I haven't focused on that but I've done well on fresh squid. Mullet and chicken work very well
@@ShroomFishing k
Not that you need advice shroom but maybe use finnesse jigheads next time. Might get better hook ups. Enjoyed the video as always mate
Thanks for the tip! Finesse falls under a lot of slightly different styles of jigheads but if it's the ones that have worm hooks in them the hook up is better but the rate of hook up is a bit lower in my experience. I did try hidden weights in the first video but I found the sink was not as appealing. Might see how they go when the bream bite is on because I can imagine them slurping it up lol
@@ShroomFishing tackle tacticz headlockz finnesse jigheads. And thank you for your reply and advice
Nice vid, but I get the feeling the fins and head on that piece of art is leaning more mullet than mulloway...
Thanks Daniel, you could be right. There's mullet in there 100%
Since I started fishing with lures I only ever catch Flathead or the occasional tailor. I want some bream.
Bream are a tough species to tempt Mal as you know. I think it's a bit tough on the bream bite right now though which might explain it
You need to concentrate around specific structure as opposed to open flats if you want a higher percentage of bream. This can be tricky when you're land based. In a boat we can move around casting at more inaccessible structure like private jetties and timber boatramps. And don't be obsessed with soft plastics in this scenario, floating divers work well around boat sheds. Steep rocky walls at high tide, places that have a steeper gradient than where shroom is fishing here can also be good and we cast as parallel to them as we can , rather than at 90 degrees. This keeps the lure in the strike zone adjacent to the rocks, for longer. Floating crankbaits for this type of presentation. In the Parra you CAN come across massive schools of bream out on the flats in all of the shallow bays. But this is much more likely in Autumn, where its a pre spawning aggregation causing the bigger fish to school up and forage on the cockle and mussel beds that are found on the bottom in these sorts of places. When you find one of these schools, it can be absolutely insane fishing, once In Brays Bay in May I got 70 bream without moving the boat. I was just sitting there in my Quinny, amongst the yacht moorings. When a fish was brought to the boat there were other bream trying to rip the lure out of the hooked fishes gob. So twice, I got 2 fish on the one cast!. But I must stress, at this time of the year the fish will be more spread out and those bays will be flathead ( and whiting) city. Hope that helps a bit. Those prickly undersized flatties sure can be annoying, as you well know.
Don’t stop trying, my first bream on a lure was after 60-70 flatheads and once you land one your chances will increase, I don’t dare give any tips in the presence of Shroom 🤦🏻♂️😁
You can go weedless & fish heavy structure as well with 7lb tight drag & pull them out really fast or try really light 4lb long leader or 3 lb on the sand flats then the fun begins...
@@georgefisher1719 Thinner lines increase the chance of hooking a fish that’s a fact but sometimes when they are biting it doesn’t matter how heavy the line is they go for it, I caught a brim using a top water on a 25 pound leader
nothing better than human burley
Haha, true that Laura. All anglers would be thinking about whether the burley would bring in some fish 😂
@@ShroomFishing how crap is this weather. Ive got annual leave and the weather has been so bad since. Hopefully see you about over the next few weeks!
@@lauraharvey1257 Yeah, I just checked the forecast and it's still raining till next Friday! I'll probably have to tough out another wet session... I'm getting used to fishing wet now haha
Looks like the new lure from Berkley is a winner with the flatties, they were all over it. And fresh burley is the best burley 🤮👍
Yep, could never have guessed. Still would like to throw them during a good bream bite and see how it turns out. Haha that burley scattered all the humans lol
Prawn lures can be annoying that way all they catch is flatties we’ll for me 😂
Haha Boed, I thought the tiny prawns would do the trick on bream. They do but the flatties can't keep off em 😂
@@ShroomFishing ha yes that’s too true👍
Ooh I cringed when you put your gear on the ground 🤣🤣🤣
And I still lost the fish Stephen... double pain 😂😂😂
I'd be spewin' if I had some dude behind me spewin '....... I think one of those women had her eyes on you mate......🤪
I didn't actually realise that was a thing till I saw a TikTok of a prank and the person kept reacting to the spew Mark! They had their eyes on the fish I think haha

Awesome Christopher! Lost the first vlog but hopefully this one makes up for it
