Sam has amazing comedic timing. Also, James is adorable but he runs like an old man who’s trying to awkwardly sneak away from the nurse giving out meds.
Just fyi in case you didn’t realise, but babka isn’t Polish cuisine: “A babka is a sweet braided bread which originated in the Jewish communities of Poland and Ukraine.” Polish Jews weren’t even integrated with the rest of Polish culture whatsoever, they lived in ghettos/separate areas on the edge of towns, so claiming it as your own is appropriating the culture of a disadvantaged people who created babka by using LEFTOVER challah bread (the specific bread used within Jewish religious ceremonies) as they had to make the bread last longer as they didn’t have much. This quote is fully sourced on Wikipedia: “babka was mostly unheard of outside of the Polish JEWISH community until the latter part of the 20th century” Its wild how yall are claiming it 🤦♂️
@Nooticus correct, the babka in the video resembles the sweet braided bread that derived from the tradition of Polish and Ukrainian Jews, who brought the custom of baking babka to the USA in the 19th century. however, in Polish culture there is also a cake called babka, that was baked for Easter and the definition of the word "babka" as meaning a cake can be found indictionaries back in 19th century. the name of Jewish cake can be related to Polish/Ukrainian cake. (also, it used extra hallah bread, not leftovers) also, I'm actually very bloody interested in Polish history and please, Polish Jews were integrated with the rest of Polish culture, more or less but they were. They were not excluded by Polish people, they were excluded by invaders. I'm not saying both cultures were amazingly close, however saying that they weren't integrated is not true. and, finally, at the end I just want to say that my comment didn't mean to offend or hurt anybody. i just wanted to make a funny joke bc hearing "polish" and "babka" made my head shoot up to look at the screen. and with "it's wild how y'all claming it"? darling, when cultures mix, there're bound to be things everyone says they're "theirs", it's just how the world works. but the world keeps spinning...
@ thanks for the response, and I understand that! But the claim that Polish Jews mixed with ethnically Polish people just isn’t true, not until the start of the 19th century anyways, which was after my ancestors had already left Poland.
@ actually, Jews came to Poland as far as in 10th century. of course i'm not saying they've mixed with Polish people right away or that they were always (or ever) strictly connected with Polish people, however the contact was there for a very long time. I'm not a historian (even though i like a bit of history), however i do study polish philology and in many books from so many different eras you can find Jewish characters, which can lead to the conclusion that the Jewish-Polish contact existed for a long time. i'm not trying to offend you or say you're totally incorrect, but i do believe not all of your statements are fully correct.
@ oh I know they came to Poland at that time! They got there after coming through Germany (the word Ashkenaz means Germany), Italy, Greece and Israel, which can all be seen in DNA analyses! I think you should have a check to see how Jews were subjected to violent pogroms every so often for hundreds and hundreds of years.
@Nooticus ... you're pressed about a cake my guy. babkas are very popular in poland, especially on easter. i've never celebrated easter without it. it's cool that you're trying to do the right thing by correcting me, but um. i missed the part where i'm "appropriating ghettos". again, it's a cake.
@ yup. And the same way that African-American foods like grits are a product of ghettoisation and discrimination resulting in little means, this is the same with babka. They were created in ‘shtetls’ due to lack of resources and needing to re-use leftovers. To respect that, at least not implying babka is polish cuisine would do some good.
@amemishappy no, but it really is that deep. this is part of the culture and history of Jews in Europe being erased and assimilated. let me repeat myself, babka was created in ‘shtetls’ aka ghettos, where jews hardly mixed with ethnic Poles or Ukrainians. Similarly to how African-Americans created ‘grits’ out of necessity from living in a ghettoised and segregated society where they had little means, this is the same with babka and Polish Jews. Recognising that this is distinctly Ashkenazi Jewish cuisine goes some way to prevent the cultural products of an oppressed people in your country from being forgotten! Peace and love, I recommend you look more into this part of your country’s history :)
I really enjoyed this video, even though it was just James eating croissants. I liked the ‘being abroad’ aspect, the commentary, the editing, the silent cameraman still adding a lot to the dynamic

@Nooticus crazy how i was unaware 😓, i always considered it polish due to the name, original place of origin and how it was sold wildly here when i was growing up, and still is. thank you for the lesson!! ill take it to consideration 🙏🙏 :3
@v1rtual_Z you’re very welcome 🧡 and I’m sorry for being so harsh! I tried to explain this to a few other Polish commenters here and they all denied and tried to deflect what I was saying… apart from you! Thank you, you’re truly an ally 🇵🇱🧡✡️
As a French guy it was definitely weird seeing you film around places I've been near by. I'm very surprised you didn't trash talk Paris or french ppl in general more since you're a brit tbh haha, I was ready for the slender Tbf, I do feel like the ritz croissant, the circle ones and all are pretty gimmicky and touristy things, nothing can beat a good classic croissant or pain au chocolat from a good bakery. Also, if you ever come back, look for bakeries where it's written '' artisan '' in the name, usually means the stuff is homemade and I agree, Paris-Brest is an amazing dessert
The Eiffel Tower is majestic. Like Blackpool Tower but without the gaudy lights and the ballroom. Up close, though, it's lots of metal beams and rivets. We didn't go up, not because of memories of Lois Lane and terrorists, but because I'm a total wuss with heights 😊
when I was in Paris literally 4 or 5 days ago the best croissant's and pain au chocolate i has were from the general supermarkets ( franprix), they were fresh and soooo cheap, less than a euro. They were so good if you got them fairly early or when they put out the second batch of them.
Huh. I thought the Ritz Carlton was just an American thing! Fascinating! Love seeing James somehow ruin international relations between the British and French even more.
Go to shirtz.cool/james for 10% off of your Cool Shirtz order!

I did, 72 times in one day..are you proud of me🤑
mayhaps i will mayhaps i wont..(ive listened to it 100+ times)
Perfect timing!
@JamesMarriott I’ve streamed the song that much I wouldn’t be surprised if the neighbours know the lyrics (peak music)
@JamesMarriott James I have listened to your song over one thousand times. Please let me out of the basement.
Will runs to Brighton for James, James travels to Paris for food…
wheres james from again? never heard him say
@eeethanan born in switzerland, raised in inglaterra
Have you seen the was he runs in this. He could never have run to will
I ship it- James took the train so Will could run or something
3:51 Pretty French girl running in the background and the camera getting distracted by her feels like a 2010s romcom
thats a perfect way to descrbe it omg
13:05 same as when the camera person gets distracted by the cute doggy
Sam has amazing comedic timing.
Also, James is adorable but he runs like an old man who’s trying to awkwardly sneak away from the nurse giving out meds.
Read this as he ran and it is spot on
0:19 HE’S SLEEPING ON A TRAIN AGAINN
i scrolled SO far to make sure someone said this
12:03 stop this is so cute
It's adorable!!!
13:00 the overstimulating noises, the massive cake being eaten off a bin and the dog looking petrified to be on a walk I am crying.
2:14 HELP?! The way he was just STARING
Normal french old men I fear (as a French person)
@Lill_yyas yep lol (as another french person)
8:41 aww, he's missing joking about Will's mum, so sweet
I was waiting for a Paris brest joke. "Will's mum in Paris"
I feel let down
James really wanted some croissants but needed to make it a tax write off to justify the trip to Paris, not complaining though we get some pookie!
New James Marriott video I do want to live like thisss
That mad exhausted phone call from you at 2AM was so worth it to know you'd been doing this delightful nonsense.
Business expense - the video
ITS EVIL PINELY
james mariott filming in front of my house was not on my 2025 bingo card 😭
as a fellow parisian this entire video felt like a weird fever dream
5:29 ‘it smells buttery, but like fresh, still’. he’s discovered bakery! congratulate him :)
Social anxiety is scared of Jimbo Mazza
17:14 WHY IS NO ONE TALKING ABOUT THE RESTAURANT BEHIND THEM
“ This is the biggest cake i’ve ever seen” Will curls up into a ball in the corner crying
11:57 AWWWW
As a French person the pronunciation of a Paris-Brest as a “Paris’ breasts” got me 😂😂
Thank you kiwi :)
as a polish person, i felt like a sleep agent getting activated the moment he banned babka

the ritz…… good omens reference.. good omens reference…..
James referencing the Nosferatu “bounce on it” clip was not something I was expecting to see today
There is an absolutely unhinged kind of energy in this video
Definitely got that scruffy Brighton style going on there James.

As a French guy it was definitely weird seeing you film around places I've been near by. I'm very surprised you didn't trash talk Paris or french ppl in general more since you're a brit tbh haha, I was ready for the slender
