Canal de Panamá ("The Panama Canal") Adventure

The Panama Canal is an artificial waterway in Panama, completed in 1914, and connects the Atlantic Ocean with the Pacific Ocean. It spans about 82 kilometers (51 miles) across the Isthmus of Panama. The canal uses a system of locks to lift ships up to Gatun Lake, an artificial lake 26 meters (85 feet) above sea level, and then lower them back down on the other side.
