Louisville really needs to work on their defense and turn overs. What happened to Key Key Jefferson? She didn't even play. She's Louisville's best player.
I made a mistake when I said that Notre Dame would beat the 2024 UCONN WBB team in 6/10 games. I was wrong. This Notre Dame team would beat Geno's UCONN team 9/10 games. That's because all five Notre Dame starters can shoot the lights out. Sonia Citron, Maddy Westbeld, DeWolfe, Hidalgo and Watkins can all shoot. They play the kind of organized basketball that fans like to see. They rebound, pass, dribble, defend, and they don't jerk around on offense: They get the ball to the open shooter & she shoots and makes it. In comparison, UCONN stinks because Geno doesn't know how to use what he has. He has a handful of mid-range jump shooters led by Paige Bueckers who can do it all but is under such creative constraint that Ash's & Cadence's talents in the midrange are wasted. If Geno hadn't gone brain dead, he'd let Paige lose and she'd find a way to run an offense inside of 15 feet. Instead, Geno forces her to take mindless 3-pointers and run that garbage weave around the key. That forces Cadence and Ashley to take the 3-point shot which they stink at. If Geno would catch pneumonia and let one of his assistants take over, she'd let Paige run the show and Paige would find a way to get Cadence & Ashley the ball inside 15'. As a contra temp, KK should be allowed to run around like a nut & do what she does, plus she can focus on getting Ayliah the ball and taking a few shots herself. I'm thinking of Red Auerbach's old NY Knicks offense with Clyde, Earl, Dave Debush, Dollar Bill, & the two big guys. This UConn team really misses Sweet Caroline because she was the only girl who could make Geno's Weave work. They don't miss Azzi or Ice that much because those two fall into the "never was" category. They are not as bad as "Deadbeat" Dewberry, but they just never shot as well in college as they did in high school & they never will at UConn. It's sad but true, Notre Dame's Niele Ivey is a better coach that fat, old Geno and Notre Dame's wbb is far better than UConn's. Then again, so is Stanford, UCLA, LSU, South Carolina and a handful of others. UConn is still a top 20, D-1 WBB team, but they are not only no longer #1, they are also not in the top five programs.
