Thank you for the post! Derrick Brooks was an absolute technician as a linebacker and was the only player that made Mike Vick’s speed look human. A do it all linebacker that played run, took away the middle tight end and scored off picks. One of my favorite players ever!

Derrick Brooks is one of the greatest linebackers of all time. He also one of the greatest players to ever play for the Buccaneers. He was a monster! He is a Hall of Famer who is a Florida boy where he is originally from Pensacola. He also played college football at Florida State.🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈

Thanks for posting this. Not a Bucs fan but Brooks is a legend and it’s so great to see all the plays he made in his illustrious career. Defensive players often get short-changed in highlight packages that only feature splash plays. Even a routine 1st down tackle or forcing an incompletion can be a great play.
So many beautiful plays. 12:42 and the next play. 16:55. 22:22 and the next. 34:38 and the next. 46:47, 58:35 & 1:04:14

Warren Sapp and Derrick Brooks in the same draft, Tampa had some crazy good scouting that year

Theismann was on the money when he said, “when he gets the ball, it could be points”. One thing Brooks excelled at, besides tackling, was his amazing ability to scoop up fumbles and take them in for six points. I knew he would make a huge difference on that Buc defense when they picked him. Tampa was on fire that draft, picking Sapp and Brooks in the same draft. Both are Hall Of Famers now.
I have seen so many players try to scoop up fumbles on the run, only to accidentally kick the ball further and never get the recovery, that was why me and my brother always yelled at the players to just fall on the damn ball and secure the turnover, unless it was Brooks. Derrick was always able to snatch a fumble on the run, which is why he scored so much. He was also dangerous after an interception. He had such great speed and an instinct finding holes in coverage and exploit them.
Brook was so fast, Monte Kiffin always assigned him to shadow Mike Vick. All of the highlight reels Vick created playing other defenses came to a halt when playing Tampa. Vick had the least yards rushing in Bucs games. Every time he attempted to escape the pocket, Brooks was there to make insane open field tackles against the usually elusive Vick. That’s why Brooks is a Hall Of Famer. I think he scored five times the season they won the Super Bowl, including a pick six in the Super Bowl to ice the game.
Fellow Hall Of Famer Ronde Barber played that role in Philly in the championship game, icing the trip to the Super Bowl with his 92 yards interception return for the winning TD.

Mel Kiper making an ass of himself (as usual) at the 2:34 mark. I wonder who is wrong more often, Jim Cramer or Kiper ?
