Yo @RetroRick $20 thousand...for all his entire Game Qube collection. You must be filling for content for this still. And you sold some of your games 🎮 to him.
Man, this is crazy to watch, but really cool too! That final montage is outstanding and shows it’s not the end of the GameCube journey, but a new chapter in it. Awesome video man!!
The editing is flawless in this episode. Sad to see it go, and I know it was hard for you. I’m happy you ended up with Rick though! I was rooting for him!
I just found your channel from Retro Rick. I can't imagine how tough it was to sell that collection. I have several thousand games myself and probably couldn't sell them if I needed to. I just subscribed because I want to see your journey to refilling your collection. Good luck.
I had to sell my SEGA SATURN collection (it wasn't complete, but I had most, and duplicates of very expensive games) about 8 years ago, to pay for medical bills, so this hit hard for me. Hope you get it all back. I doubt I'll get my Saturn games back😥 Anyway, great video, and good luck with your new business 👍
Sorry to hear that happened, that is never a fun thing and I have been there so I can relate. I appreciate the kind words on the video and business and I wish you all the best!
I did the same thing a couple years ago. Now instead of taking up a large room+ of real estate, my libraries are in tiny units of digital memory. I won't be building mine back but I'll enjoy watching you do so. Best of luck in you new business!
I had to sell my Nintendo and Super Nintendo collection while I was unemployed a few years back. There is some regret there but it allowed me to keep a roof over my head for 8 months so it helped out a lot.
Life comes first in my opinion. That's why I'm sticking with the PS Vita throughout this decade. There's so many PSP, PSOne, and PS Vita games I never got to play. Plus, I may end up getting too busy to play modern games and consoles. I would collect GameCube games, but they cost an arm and a leg at this point.
You two are definitely awesome. This is True Friendship. Retro Rick got a super sweet Gamecube collection and you got enough $$,$$$ to start your business.
Smart decision! Good luck on the business!! I sold my entire Zelda boxed collection a few years ago for similar reasons and am slowly recollecting and it is a blast! Can't wait for the future of this channel!
Retro Rick has a great channel, definitely worth checking out. I love his content, and he seems like a real genuine dude. I will say though, the whole “free collection” concept is a bit misleading. I’ve heard a lot of RUclipsrs say this about their massive and valuable collections, and it always irks me. I understand that turning profit from re-selling games can theoretically pay for a collection, but the time spent on hunting games down at garage sales/thrift stores/pawn shops, etc, and then the time to post online, it adds up. I’m not saying it’s not a smart way of collecting for cheap..but it is not as simple as saying, I spent $0 on everything I own. Just my humble opinion.
Yeah I get what you are saying. I think it is just an expression more than anything not meant to be taken 100% literally. Now I will say that as someone who knows Rick he is most definitely a genuine dude and Super super nice.
RetroWolf88 you’re right, I’m definitely being captain literal man on this one 😂 just something a hear a lot. I can tell Rick is a cool dude, I want to emphasize I’m not trying to troll and call him a liar or anything, just acknowledging that there is work to be done to be such an efficient collector, especially these days. I’m glad I found your channel with this video, for sure subscribed!
100% in the end it costs way less to buy off ebay instead of spending my weekend "deal hunting" as I make way more money working overtime on a weekend then the amount of money id "save" on possibly finding a "great deal" after spending all weekend driving around, using gas and time to try to find it. Id actually loose more money doing it that way.
Best of luck on starting your new business. I have no doubt you’ll succeed because of the sacrifice you had to make for it. Time for new memories as you build it up from scratch, looking forward to it!
This is such an inspiring video! I'm sorry you had to sell your gamecube collection but it's awesome you get to start a new journey because of it! I started my collection of gamecube games & I just discovered this channel because of this video. I'm a new subscriber & can't wait to see what else you post! :)
respect takes a real man to be able to sell something he loves to better his self and family in the long run, looking forward to you rebuilding it, and good luck with the business you got a new sub from me
I knew Rick was gonna give you those games. Wholesome as could be. Great video man I know you will get your collection back one day. I've sold off my entire collection before and now I'm sitting on a 20k collection. Video games come and go! I have a bunch of gamecube games, but you have 6 that I dont have!
@@RetroWolf_YT Absolutely. Also a new sub so hopefully I'll get to see some good gamecube pickups in the future! I was just at my local game shop to buy my 3 year old a sega so he could play sonic because hes always playing it on his tablet. He had a blast playing the real thing tonight. But also while I was there I saw the black label I guess it's called of a nice looking windwaker cib for 70$... yikes.
I’ve heard your name thrown out in the retro community for some time now but this is the first video I’ve gotten the chance to watch of yours. It’s gotta be hard to make a decision that big but rebuilding is a whole other journey. You gained a subscriber in me!
Amazing job with the vid! 1st time visiting the channel. I found you from retro Rick's channel. Count me in as subscribed! It would utterly break my heart to sell off any of my collection but for the reasons that drove you to seek out a buyer, I couldn't agree with you more. The greatest thing about collecting is preserving history. Putting out content for folks to find a forgotten love for video games, just getting into it or providing positive feedback and suggestions to what to potentially play or collect. I can't wait to jump into your vids and see what your channel has to offer. I'm sure I won't be disappointed as you certainly made a great 1st impression. 👊

Thank you I appreciate it and yes I definitely made the right decision 100%
I could never do this. So hat's off to you man.

It really is!
Packing that box with GC games...and tears... Retro Rick? THAT guy? Oh man, you got duped. LOL
Really, really wishing you well Matt in your new venture--both business-wise and GC collecting!
Haha thanks Tom!
I'm extremely proud of you for doing what you had to do and I know it's sad but hey it is worth it and I'm glad you're starting up a business and I cannot wait for your brand new series about how you're going to be able to recollect the 551 games for the GameCube.

I hate you that you had to part with your collection! Good luck with your new business and putting your collection together again! What part of TN are you from? (I'm also in TN)
Thanks! I am sort of between Chattanooga and Nashville
I think that was the saddest thing I’ve ever watched in my entire life
Hahaha don't worry good things will come out of it and I WILL get the collection back over time
I would NOT start a business with the way things are today... daaaang. Good luck though man.
The good thing about the business I am starting is that these services are still in VERY high demand. So I feel great about it!
What an emotional journey man! Well at least you know they went to a good home and can see them in a bunch of Ricks soon to come videos lol

Haha I am crazy for sure
Brave and sensible decision man! Really enjoyed this episode even though going in I thought this might be a downer. Awesome directing and editing! Best of luck with your own company, have a good feeling about it!
Thank you I really appreciate you saying that!
Wild to see an empty shelf. It's going to be great to see it fill back up!
I can't wait!
It's a sad moment man, but in the end you're getting to start your business, and you get to relive the thrill of recollection for the gamecube.
You are 1000% right brotha!
Watched retro Rick's first but give you alot of credit don't think I could do this if I had to sell my collection. I have about 70 or so gamecube games. Love this console. But cool video.
It certainly wasn't an easy decision but it is for the best Ultimately
Hey brother, I hope your business goes well. That must have been quite the sacrifice for you, but it seems like you are passionate about your new business and helping your family. Good luck, brother.
Thank you I really appreciate that!
