Most homes are air conditioned and our trucks and cars are, so it’s not to bad. But we also get a lot of rain this time of year and that with the heat, is why everything is so green. At the moment, the lawns grow so fast, the need mowing about every 4-5 days. A good idea when going through the 5unnels in Brisbane is to set your cruise control. There are Speed cameras all the way through them. Listening to the noise with the windows up, the tyre noise was louder than the engine noise. Next time you are in Bris, hit me up and I will take for a good pub feed. 👍
Born and raised in Brisbane, now in Bundaberg it's great to see Gympie Rd again. Personally, I hate tolls so I would turn right after Aspley and head off through W Stafford, Ashgrove and Bardon and this takes you through to the Centenary Hwy and on to Ipswich Rd. Probably a bit tedious driving a big rig through there. I was surprised how little traffic there was and how those tunnels teleport you to a new dimension. Very enjoyable video.
Happy Birthday to your son hope y'all have fun. some drivers like to drive with their windows down i don't like to much noise. Truck i drove had 12 in. Chrome stacks little over 125,000or more had the truck and 3 trailers that's what he owned. anyway thank you for taking us along with you on your journey.
wow, you've gone through my old haunts Northside Brisbane .. Beams Road 1:30 Bro, Carseldine, Aspley, Chermside, Stafford, uggghh traffic. Glad we left that city and moved out to the country. More rain East Coast bro for green lawns too. Watching with much intent lolol, saves me driving thru this part of the city, which i choose not to bc look at them road works omg. You'll have a tunnel coming up soon. Yesss.
I know that road and area very well also, currently at Kallangur but don't travel much. Good move to center lane at 2:55 that's how trucks used to travel on Ipswich Road, don't get people turning left or right in front of you like the outside lanes. Plenty of speed cameras and red light cameras, can't go over 60K through Kedron, let's see how he does!
Awesome vid Johnno. My old hunting ground. My in-laws (outlaws) live at Albany Creek. The main road is smooth but thank the Gods that you don't have to venture into the suburban streets on the North Side. The roads are garbage. PS: That Porsche on the north side was a Macan and they retail starting in the low 100's and go up from there. Cheers
Absolutely spot on with your NSW atrocious roads comment!! 😳😳. WA definitely has the best roads in the country, if you want ridiculously priced Toll roads….come to Sydney!!! 😡😡
Very informative drive through heavy traffic, and your truck appears to keep up with all the other cars , so u must have good knowledge of that gearbox, very smooth and seamless, great commentary along the way, there is so many elements to being a true professional truck driver, great stuff, cheers from Geelong,❤️🦘🦘🦘🇦🇺
Thank you very much John for this interesting video, I am your fan and watch every video of you. Greetings from Europe, always drive safe. Stay safe. see ya 😃
Dang mate ya got me all excited, I'm gonna havta start driving agin. ATS that is on me motion sim driving a KW200 down Mexico. Only driving I'm allowed to do. Thanks Buddy. Stay safe. The Ol' Fella Greg.
Oh, no!!! You ended so abruptly. I assume there will be a Part Two? Thanks for showcasing my old city. It sure has changed a bit. I didn't know Brisbane drivers were civilised compared to other capitals. 😃
Just watching your video. I was a truck driver in England and out of a fleet of about twelve lorries mine was the only manual gearbox. I also preferred that to driving an automatic.
Appreciate you replying to me. I am retired now but I was a long distance truck driver covering Europe and Scandinavia. I enjoy watching these types of videos because they remind me of my career. Take care and drive safely
Johno, looks like you’ve got the knuckleheads over there that do stupid four wheeler stuff like we do in the states. Sad to see these Noodlehead on the road. Be safe brother.
Great video. It would be good if you filmed the climb up the hill into Toowoomba. Tunnels and engine brakes are made for each other. I was going through the tunnel under the Yarra River late one night when a Lamborghini went flying past on full noise. It sounded fantastic.
Nice tour Johno you wouldn't want to be caught in one of those tunnels with a burning plastic EV, as for the Porche keep the Kenworth it would probably be cheaper in the long run. Your Kenworth is faster than the Porche because you overtook it a few times😂
Drinking my morning cuppa, crisp minus 15°C outside, sun shining nice though. Watching Johnno drive through city and Brisbane tunnel! I enjoy the city driving with traffic as much as the outback routes and drone shots. The roads do look quite good for QLD in general. Comparing them to Bruce Hwy in FNQ and Cairns area. 😂
Great vlog boss although I don’t drive big trucks only a little van I too always prefer manual transmission over automatic and to hear that albeit USA powered engine with 620 rampaging horses and 3000 plus NM of torques is always great so thanxs for making this vlog for us to enjoy and along side the gear change vlogs plz keep making ones like this 😊😊😊 PS :- Happy Birthday to your son
Just as a question when you did your vlog on driving an 18 speed truck when you changed gear you never depressed the clutch pedal would love to know why and the reason as obviously I am an amateur and am eager to learn ??
There is no reason for the clutch pedal to be pressed for every gear change. As you see there was no grinding of gears as I went up ages down them. I only use the clutch to stop and start.
smooth traffic. no 4-wheelers changing lanes 5 meters in front of you. You get enough space to keep your distance, even when braking at a traffic light, there is no one who will squeeze it in between. Nice job like this. That's different here. They'd rather drive you off the road. You can't get distance. If you take it, there is always one person who puts it in the space.Seen that to much for 23 years everyday overhere, loaded with 45t.Full brakes for the traffic lights because you don't get the space. Now quickly back to the bush.😁
@@RoadTrainAdventures Big parts of EU is like that. Like city trafic. To much people. Crazy angry trafic. like ants on an anthill. Where every ant wants to be at the front. In this Point Of View video I automatically checked whether one would come into your space. Instinkt. that is still there hahaha.
I’m laughing at the experts asking why your hugging the right hand lane , well your passing most all other vehicles so why would you keep jinking in and out of lanes in a big truck , you keep doing what you do , keep safe 😊
When I was learning to drive trucks the teacher was very insisting on slowing down right away when the traffic lights shifted to red (or were red), because maybe the lights would shift to green before you reached the intersection. Saving fuel because you are rolling instead of starting from zero, less gear changes makes smoother driving, and also, of course, saving brakes because you don't have to brake that hard. It makes a big difference when you are pulling 50 tons or more. I always use this trick when I'm driving, even my own personal car. The trouble is often that others cut in front of you. Morons! 😉
Unfortunately, most city dwellers are complete muppets and either too incompetent to drive in the middle or slow lanes or just don’t give a toss about others on the roads. Even when there are signs “Keep Left Unless Overtaking”. It drives me up the wall. Even coppers these days do the same and if not, they don’t book anyone for doing it.
Yes you got that right. I'm usually the one trying to overtake cars and even when I flash my lights at the show car in the right hand lane some just flip me off instead of moving to the left.
Is that really what you took away from this video? Who was going faster? Me or the cars? You can't get a fine for travelling in the right lane unless the speed limit is over 90 and you're not overtaking.
@@RoadTrainAdventureseveryone’s an eggspurt on fining people for shit they haven’t done wrong apparently! Is that Bald Hills type area, before it joins the Bruce?
@@RoadTrainAdventures righto, i know you may think I’m a southern jerk but having lived in Nambour, and around the sunshine coast, and worked in Mount Gravatt, and the Gold coast, I do know my way around southern qld, fairly well…and I hope they’ve improved the roads between Eumundi and Gladstone by now, there were some shocking stretches of bitumen up that way.
As far as toll roads go, they also demand that trucks use toll roads over free roads. Must use the Toowoomba bypass toll instead of the old Toowoomba range road. Must use the Logan Motorway rather than through the main roads across Brisbane. You’re on the Western Freeway once out of Legacy Way & then onto the Centenary Hway.
That was interesting, but I'm wondering if you would have been better served by giving the Gympie Arterial and the traffic and lights a miss and taken the Gateway Mwy all the way then onto the Logan Mwy. That way you would probably have been in top gear all the way except for over the Gateway bridge. Depending on time of day, of course. When you exited the tunnel and asked what the road was, it's the Western Freeway/Centennial Motorway.
Very good. I guess Google would have suggested that way if it would have worked out to be quicker. I get the way your talking about and yes it wouldn't have been so much stop start.
having a few months off for an operation but i drive a truck and dog in briz , mack titan c15 with 5 inch sporties , fkn loud , glad to be away fron that traffic as i di a similar run 6 times a day from over near the airport , but gotta love that traffic , and they are only getting worse
at 25.30 you made it out of the tolls you just have about 5 more phone seat belt cameras and about 10 more speed cameras before Gatton to get through so if you get through without a fine you're quite fortunate.
Yes if they are going show them that's no good but you might notice that I drive faster than the cars do. It's usually the cars in front of me that slow me down.
Gday Johnno! My name is Sean, and I'm a new viewer here from the States, and I really enjoyed this driving video, especially with the windows down - that exhaust on your truck sounds incredible! It is my ultimate dream to go for a nice long ride along in a road train, hopefully one with a real mean sounding Cummins! Now, I've got some questions on the truck. What year, make and model, engine and transmission? What exhaust are you running? To me it sounds like she's straight piped with an ISX EGR engine! Now, I'd like a special request done. Can you please do a super long ASMR style video with the best audio possible? I'd like for you to use the GoPro, as you did in this one. I'd love the following: engine start up at the beginning, tons of stops and starts, runs through the gears, cruising, jaking, and if possible, high RPM shifting, and engine shutdown at the end. Make sure to do it with windows down, so I can hear that exhaust sound! I'd like the ASMR to be well over 2 hours, for me, the longer the ASMR, the better! And no commentary, just the engine and exhaust sound from beginning to end. No intro/outro, just raw unedited ASMR action the entire way. And just in case, ASMR is a type of video that help people sleep, relax, study, meditate, etc. I've seen several other truck drivers who just let the camera roll and just drive, no commentary. Plus, I'm blind, so I'm even more fascinated by how amazing these Aussie Cummins engines sound, and I'd like the longest ASMR's possible on this truck so I can listen to them and fall asleep while imagining I'm on a road train adventure! Please let me know ASAP, and I hope you can do my request for me as soon as possible!!
So my truck is a 2011 EGR Cummins with a straight through exhaust I am getting a new truck shortly so this won't be around for too much longer. You should hear this truck in real life. It really does sound amazing. What is ASMR? What does it stand for? I actually can't stand those videos where it's just driving and engine noise. That is no good for me. I make my videos so you could put them straight on television. I will try to make some more videos where there is a lot more just engine noise.
@@RoadTrainAdventures ASMR stands for autonomous sensory meridian response, which is a tingling sensation that spreads through your body, and it is related to different audio sounds. I know you don’t like doing videos with just engine sounds, but if you could please try your best to do my requested video I’d really appreciate it! I want as much ASMR action on it before you get your new truck!! I’m sure other people will enjoy it as well! Since your truck is a 2011, is it a T404, T408, T409, or T908?
I did make a video that is a little like that. It's called "A very different video". I do talk in it a bit but it goes for 44 minutes. My truck is a T909. I'll see if I can make a video of me driving around the city so you can hear me changing gears a lot. It's a long weekend here in Melbourne and I expect to have the weekend at home so next week will be it.
@@RoadTrainAdventures awesome!! When you do it, you’ll use your GoPro, like you did in this one? Like I said earlier, I want the best audio as possible, and the audio from the GoPro is fantastic!! How long do you expect it to be? The longer the better!!
It depends how much driving I do. I will probably only man's one because these videos to me are really amateur and I'll leave these for other people to make.
the Car speedo is out as you said. reason is. An ADR rule from 2005. a speed must read at or below. 10% speed allowance. PLUS add in the allowance for a 50 mm increase in tire rotation diameter. so, the 50 mm allowable increase is the 8 k/h error. this is across the board with all cars. but outside of a 4x4 who would?
You are very correct. It's a pity that most people don't this so they go slow. I encourage people to download a gps speedo app from their app store to check the sites they're really doing.
Most drivers didn't take up your stopping distance , as for Auto, only ever drove 1 , 1974 it was , a damn BMC Auto for McCullochs Car Carrier out of Wagga Wagga , top of Razor Back it went into like angel gear , that was first trip, quickly learned had to change down manually
heya john. Loving these city driving vids as much as the cross country vids. Im just wondering if you have a facility to show the gear changes up and down as you are with your trip meter on your dash there? It would be most helpful to have a digital display indicating when your changing gears up and down...As much as we can hear the gear changes, It would be really handy to have a visual of the gear changes. Maybe its an editing thing to pop a gear change indicator in but Im sure you could have the changes on the dash like the speed indicator is... Again, a fantastic vid mate!
Hey Johnno what a great video, bit different to Townsville traffic lol. Between the lights on the flat with the one trailer do you drive it like a 13 speed?
When the Constitution was being negotiated, there were few cars, so the federal interest in transport was confined to railways and shipping. The states are left with roads and they can do what they like within their borders. I don't recommend a legal challenge to tolls. Just pay up. WA has its minerals and a great GST share deal so they don't need to rely on Transurban to build their roads. You might be getting mixed up with section 92 which is about trade, not transport. Driving south from Brisbane on a Friday afternoon might change your views about automatics.
Thanks Richard. You might also remember that Australia only had one border which is 200 miles of the coast. Within Australia we have jurisdictional limit our political boundaries. Yes I know what you mean with section 92. That section also talk about free intercourse among the states.

@@seanlonergan9631Actually mate, in Vic, trucks are not allowed in the right hand lane unless turning..Here in WA, common sense prevails, cannot speak for other states.
@@ChrisB-u4n On some roads and freeways in Victoria, trucks over 4.5 tonnes gross vehicle mass (GVM) are restricted from the right lane. 👍
Thanks Louie. I'll see how I go for time. I don't come to Brisbane much. I wondered about the speed cameras in the tunnel.
Thank you for the insights. Very interesting views and explanation. GREAT sound 👍🐺🙂
Thanks Dirk
Born and raised in Brisbane, now in Bundaberg it's great to see Gympie Rd again. Personally, I hate tolls so I would turn right after Aspley and head off through W Stafford, Ashgrove and Bardon and this takes you through to the Centenary Hwy and on to Ipswich Rd. Probably a bit tedious driving a big rig through there. I was surprised how little traffic there was and how those tunnels teleport you to a new dimension. Very enjoyable video.
Awesome. I'm glad I was able to bring back some memories and show your a few new things.
Awesome video Johno, it’s time for a beer mate👍👍👍
Maybe on the weekend. I've still got work to do.
I really like your Chanel, easy to watch and advice is great. Thank you

I live in Cape Town South Africa and really enjoy your content Johno. Thanks for the tour around Brisbane. Looks great.
Thanks Dave. It's great to have you along
Thanks heaps Terry for the birthday wishes. I like to travel with my windows up too.
wow, you've gone through my old haunts Northside Brisbane .. Yesss.
Very good
I know that road and area very well also, currently at Kallangur but don't travel much. Good move to center lane at 2:55 that's how trucks used to travel on Ipswich Road, don't get people turning left or right in front of you like the outside lanes. Plenty of speed cameras and red light cameras, can't go over 60K through Kedron, let's see how he does!
Thanks John. Yes it's all a mine field to get through.
Cheers
Thanks Darren. I rarely get to checkout the suburbs so I don't know what they're like.
Your a good operator johno , my rr skills are sad , happy birthday johno 🎂 apparently 🎉 🤪✌️👍
Thanks Andre. It was my sons birthday.
Absolutely spot on with your NSW atrocious roads comment!! 😳😳. WA definitely has the best roads in the country, if you want ridiculously priced Toll roads….come to Sydney!!! 😡😡
Thanks Mick
Very informative drive through heavy traffic, and your truck appears to keep up with all the other cars , so u must have good knowledge of that gearbox, very smooth and seamless, great commentary along the way, there is so many elements to being a true professional truck driver, great stuff, cheers from Geelong,❤️🦘🦘🦘🇦🇺

I drive Gympie Rd regularly.
The roadworks are a lot better than a year ago. They’re putting in a dedicated bus lane northbound.
Wow it's been a whole year and that's all they've done. No good
Thank you very much John for this interesting video, I am your fan and watch every video of you. Greetings from Europe, always drive safe. Stay safe. see ya 😃

Great clip mate 👍 ridden and driven that route plenty of times on my trip to the sunny coast and have to agree the roads are nice to drive on 😊

Great job

Oh, no!!! You ended so abruptly. I assume there will be a Part Two? Thanks for showcasing my old city. It sure has changed a bit. I didn't know Brisbane drivers were civilised compared to other capitals. 😃
Thanks. I didn't know where to end this video and it was going on too long so I just cut it.
Just watching your video. I was a truck driver in England and out of a fleet of about twelve lorries mine was the only manual gearbox. I also preferred that to driving an automatic.
Thanks Steven. Yeah you got it
Appreciate you replying to me. I am retired now but I was a long distance truck driver covering Europe and Scandinavia. I enjoy watching these types of videos because they remind me of my career. Take care and drive safely
Yes it's always very to see what's happening around.
Johno, looks like you’ve got the knuckleheads over there that do stupid four wheeler stuff like we do in the states. Sad to see these Noodlehead on the road. Be safe brother.
They be everywhere. There is no escaping unless you're in the middle of nowhere which is the best place to be.
Great video. It would be good if you filmed the climb up the hill into Toowoomba. Tunnels and engine brakes are made for each other. I was going through the tunnel under the Yarra River late one night when a Lamborghini went flying past on full noise. It sounded fantastic.
Ha ha. A Lamborghini might sound loud in a tunnel. I got done drone footage of the Toowoomba range. I'll try to fit it in to some video.
@@RoadTrainAdventures that would be great.
For sure
Nice tour Johno you wouldn't want to be caught in one of those tunnels with a burning plastic EV, as for the Porche keep the Kenworth it would probably be cheaper in the long run.
Your Kenworth is faster than the Porche because you overtook it a few times😂
Thanks Tony. Yes I'm usually quicker than the other cars on the road.
Nice rig Johnny and you must have a lot of patience mate
I have a lot of patience except for when slow car drivers are in front of me.
Great vid
Thanks heaps
Drinking my morning cuppa, crisp minus 15°C outside, sun shining nice though. Watching Johnno drive through city and Brisbane tunnel!
I enjoy the city driving with traffic as much as the outback routes and drone shots.
The roads do look quite good for QLD in general. Comparing them to Bruce Hwy in FNQ and Cairns area. 😂
Thanks heaps. I'm down in Melbourne already and about to unload that load I picked up. It's about that here too.
Great vlog boss although I don’t drive big trucks only a little van I too always prefer manual transmission over automatic and to hear that albeit USA powered engine with 620 rampaging horses and 3000 plus NM of torques is always great so thanxs for making this vlog for us to enjoy and along side the gear change vlogs plz keep making ones like this 😊😊😊
PS :- Happy Birthday to your son
Thanks so much Neil. I'll certainly do my best
@@RoadTrainAdventures thanks for the info Jonno the information is much appreciated boss so thanks for answering my question
Anytime I can help
Cool video
Awesome. Thanks heaps
smooth traffic. no 4-wheelers changing lanes 5 meters in front of you.
Wow. Sounds like a hard place to drive in the Netherlands.
Ha ha. For sure
I love da engine noise 😊
Yes it's great hey
Hats off to you brother. Not really heavy traffic tho. I’ll stick with my auto 😂
Very good. Thanks Wayne
I’m laughing at the experts asking why your hugging the right hand lane , well your passing most all other vehicles so why would you keep jinking in and out of lanes in a big truck , you keep doing what you do , keep safe 😊
Thanks John. That's right. I'm passing everyone.
Morons! 😉
Yes you got it. Everyone else speeds up to the red light.
It’s amazing no one road raged you for being in the right lane the whole time.
I may have taken off a little slower but I was faster than all the cars within a short time.
In QLD nobody seems to take any notice of the right hand lane. It’s just another lane.
I thought Queenslanders were very considerate.
Yes you got that right. I'm usually the one trying to overtake cars and even when I flash my lights at the show car in the right hand lane some just flip me off instead of moving to the left.
I agree with you John, I would rather drive in Brisbane than Sydney any day. Thank you for a great video, Stay Safe.
Thanks Peter
I find road train drivers very safe pals on the road, but I always give them space to get around safely .....
That's very nice. Thanks Graham.
The bridge is replacing the north bound bridge. Weight restriction on northbound. Bridge was damaged in the 2011 and 2022 floods.
I see. Thanks Scott.
I found driving in the city with a 909 quite stressful went back earthmoving
Oh. It's harder than a cabover but I'd still rather have this for the smoother ride.
Cannot believe he hogs the right lane. He will get a fine in the mail
No that was Gympie Rd just north of Brisbane city
@@RoadTrainAdventures righto, i know you may think I’m a southern jerk but having lived in Nambour, and around the sunshine coast, and worked in Mount Gravatt, and the Gold coast, I do know my way around southern qld, fairly well…and I hope they’ve improved the roads between Eumundi and Gladstone by now, there were some shocking stretches of bitumen up that way.
I heard that it's due to the ground under the road surface. The bitumen itself is usually very good.
Yes you've got that right.
The only toll road/tunnel that makes a profit in Qld is the one that cuts across to the Gold Coast highway from the Ipswich Road.
I thought they all makes Billions.

Just a heads up john, in a double you can't go through the tunnels if you're over 50t from what I've heard

This is just a big car so just like your car you get used to how wide it is.
Those roads look pretty narrow to me. Ofcourse you are used to it. Respect to all truckers out there.
Some of the roads I showed you were narrow but others here are wider.
Good one
Thanks Jonathan
at 25.30 you made it out of the tolls you just have about 5 more phone seat belt cameras and about 10 more speed cameras before Gatton to get through so if you get through without a fine you're quite fortunate.
Thanks Paul. I was watching out for those cancers. It's a mine field.
I hate trucks that stay in the right lane. Specially on roads like Gympie rd where there are heaps of road works.
Yes if they are going show them that's no good but you might notice that I drive faster than the cars do. It's usually the cars in front of me that slow me down.
That was a fun watch. Thanks!
Awesome. Thanks Mike
Interesting watching all the other cars, but you seemed to be carrying good speed. Also average value of a Porsche Cayenne 150k..thx again Johnno
Oh thanks Mark. Looks I've got some saving to do if I want one of those then.
So my truck is a 2011 EGR Cummins with a straight through exhaust
I am getting a new truck shortly so this won't be around for too much longer.
Oh c'mon mate you know you would love to drive an Auto 😂😂 Kenny does 😁😁

Thanks heaps. Yes. You know your engine.
@@RoadTrainAdventures thanks mate yeah she has that distinct exhaust rumble.
Oh yeah. It sounds much better in real life.
the Car speedo is out as you said.
Yes Brisbane drivers aren't too bad. Gee that was a long time ago 1974.

Alright. Thanks for that
Ok. I'll try to Mount a camera so you can see the gear changes the next time I do something like this.

Hey Johnno what a great video, bit different to Townsville traffic lol. Between the lights on the flat with the one trailer do you drive it like a 13 speed?
Basically yes. I change from gears until I get faster.
Does that mean the Cab-Over are safer for forward vision?
No. Once you get used to it, it's fine.
So at 8:15 if I want to save fuel, get in front of a truck and put it in neutral LOL
You got it and so does that car.
Hey there. how many full gears do you go down when going down a steep grade hill?
When the truck is fully loaded thanks
Mmm
It depends on how heavy and how steep. I go down as many as I can before the truck starts to get away from me.
