    What I hear you saying is to know what you need or can do to change your state, and understanding what about changing your state equates to self care. Self care and a state change can be accomplished without consuming chemicals or through intoxication. It can be 5 sets of 30 deep breaths or jumping in cold water. In order to change that state and be able to disconnect from negative thoughts of the past or the future and exist in the moment.
