I’m soooo here for your manga era 😍 I’m so glad I started reading Monster because of you because it’s so great!! And I have so many I’m adding to the list that I want to read because of you including Blood on the Tracks, Death Note, Blue Flag, and I Want to Eat Your Pancreas 💕
Fruits Basket starts off slow but gets so much better the more you go in. Lots of drama and sexual tension and story building. Each character is so complex but the first volume (collectors edition) is slow.
Fruits Basket is a nostalgic love. Most of us older millennials remember reading these in junior high and then watching the anime. So if you try reading it for the first time as an adult it loses something.
I haven't read Blue Flag (and don't really want to based on yours and others reviews of the ending) but a manga with a similar premise that I love is My Love Mix-Up, it's so much fun to read!
But also, I feel your pain. I read literally hundreds of chapters of Chihayafuru and then in literally the last chapter the author just ruins the entire series by completely going against everything she'd been building up and I will never forgive her for it.
For Blue Flag it seems like people either love it or hate it 😂 I read Blue Flag mostly from the library besides one volume. At first I was confused by the epilogue because of a character’s haircut and then when I finally figured out whose perspective it was from I was really frustrated. I wanted more context for how the epilogue came to be, feels like we got cheated some chapters. But now months later I’m not as mad about it, but I still have mixed feelings lol
YES finally someone said it about Blue Flag, bur also I was just pissed about the time jump because its like, so you mean to tell me I missed ALL the emotional shit when it came to those people actually coming together... Like you draw it out and then are like anyways in 2 sentences and now we are here... no? no.
7:24 - If you like, Fruits basket is not a simple storyline. It's a very complex and a lot of Slice of life, psychological trauma, and just the philosophy of how to live one's life (which is different depending on the character). Honestly, it's the kind of series I learn from everytime I read it (I first read it around the age of 13) ... When I first read it, it was more of a romantic story with characters with a lot of issues, but growing up I read it, and I just noticed a lot more. It's many layers. The first book has nothing of what the actual manga is about. I say if you like storylines about how dark life can get sometimes... continue reading Fruits Basket. * I watched the 2001 anime first before I got into manga (No adaption compares to the mangas). I actually disliked Tohru while watching the anime as I felt she was that character, but again ... The further I knew of her and her character... I grew to admire her. She is no Mary Sue... And none of the characters are who they seem at first appearance.
I actually really love Kamisama Kiss, and read it mostly by ordering the volumes from the library. Definitely check them out that way before you commit. I own the first and last volumes though, but I wish I owned them all because I would really like to reread the series. 🎏
I would suggested (and not because it was the reason I started my Manga/anima life) To read Soul Eater by Astushi Ohkubo. It has the mix between Death Note and Bunny for how wacky it is...and it's comeleted.
I've really enjoyed Deadman Wonderland and The Promised Neverland... I am going to be trying out Ouran High School Host Club, Mixed Vegetables, One Piece, Slasher Maidens, I am a Hero, The Ancient Magus Bride - we will see how they go! Living that manga moment!
Your videos are so fun!!! I love them! 😂I love your energy and fun positive vibes. I also love your recommendations. I am a single mom waiting on liver kidney transplant and reading is my escape. Creepy cat is a cute manga I just found. Have you read it?
OK...here are my recommendations... Erased, Your Name, Weathering with you, Ride Your Wave, Death Note, A SIlent Voice, Komi Can't Communicate, and Orange
I wanna recommend a manga series to you. it’s a long series and it has horror elements and mystery it’s called “case closed” the actual name of it is detective conan, it’s great and it has so many theories and interesting characters
I feel bad about how disappointed you were with the ending of Blue Flag. 🇺🇸 Also I adore Fruits Basket with my whole soul. It also has so much nostalgia wrapped into that love so I’m never sure if someone will like it or if that is just my nostalgia for it talking.
You should check out Rainbow and Black by Eri Takenashi. It’s sooo cute. It’s about a black and white world and a cute creature comes along and brings all the colors of the rainbow!! 🌈
🏳️🌈 I’m living for your manga era! It’s amazing to see you read manga that I’ve read and loved and see that you love it too! Also thanks for introducing me to Monster, I need to pick it up!🖤
hi, you might like Innocent by Shin'ichi Sakamoto, it's complete and has 9 volumes, the artwork is absolutely gorgeous! i read the whole thing in less than a week and am obsessed! 🖤
Please continue AOT via yhr anime if you are syruggling as the story is amazing. I havent read JJK just watched the series /movie as the animation studio goes HAM the fight scenes are amazing!! Xx
For Fruits Basket, I suggest watching a few episodes of the anime before you give up on it. It gets dark and depressing, especially towards the end it gets pretty dark. There is also queer representation in it, just not with the "main three" (Tohru, Kyo, Yuki). Kamisama Kiss is fucking ADORABLE. 🏳🌈
I am unbelievably late for this but if you read this: Oyasumi PunPun or Goodnight PunPun. It is an unbelievably good manga series. However, it is NOT an enjoyable read. It's the most concentrated shot of depression whiskey I've ever took straight, no chaser. A great read, an incredible fucking series, but it's going to leave you emotionally drained.
I think that you should try reading some light novels. Some that I would recommend would be Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation and Classroom of the Elite.
When I read the f word on Paper Girls I literally stopped and was like "uh okay... Are we really doing that?!" I kept reading and saw the aids comment and just looked up at the universe like *no, absolutely not* I almost stopped right there. Idk why I continued tbh but the next scene Erin did chastise Mac for that comment saying it's not okay basically. The story hints a few times to "those times were messed up" quoted from a "teenager"/time traveler basically acknowledging that the 80's were still not a safe place for people of the LGBTQ+ community(this was after he told Mac he had a boyfriend and she says "ew" *rolls eyes*). I didn't think those parts were necessary to the story and could have done without, personally. Clearly Mac was projecting throughout the story because she is lesbian(or bi or something?!) herself by the end as her and KJ start a romantic relationship.
I do recommend watching the Fruits Basket anime in Japanese if you can. I grew up on the English dub, but honestly, the newer Anime feels better in Japanese. I've never seen the 2001 version in Japanese 🤔 I watched both in English dub, but some voices in the 2019 version were not my cup of tea lol ... even if the 2001 version if I'm honest... BUT... good ol' nostalgia got the best of me. I dislike how it's always misunderstood to be a harem anime/manga or marketed to be a cute watch... I do feel like Fruit Basket is a very under-appreciated story for what I feel like it is. The story is probably why I have a lot of empathy lol
Try Deadman Wonderland, where a middle school boy is accused of murdering his entire class and is sent to jail, but in post-apocalyptic Japanese jail, it's all a battle Royale for entertainment. So twisted, but so entertaining.
🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈! If you love Deathnote, I’d definitely recommend Platinum End! Some other favourites you would enjoy: Btooom Deadman Wonderland Full metal Alchemist! Love every video! ❤️
🏳️🏳️ ok, this is me begging, BEGGING you to give fruits basket another chance!🙇🏽♀️🙇🏽♀️ The first volume might be slow and deceptively cute and fluffy, but before you know it, bam! TRAUMA!!! If you love character development and psychological abuse, then this is for you!!!😁
You need to read Seven Deadly Sins Manga please! The plot, the characters, the fight scenes; it's amazing! As for animes try watching Yuri on Ice (gay ice skating) and Jujustu Kaisen.
I’m adding Manga Influencer to me resume 🏆
We’re going to need a manga vlog Gabby especially horror manga

Thanks for saving me the $100 on Blue Flag lol, it's been on my wishlist for so long.

As someone who is just getting into manga myself I loved this! So many more things to add to my TBR
I cant wait for your reactions on tokyo ghoul and the promise neverland, loving the manga era 💙✨
I picked up Monster because of you and I love it! I’m on Volume 2.
YES finally someone said it about Blue Flag, bur also I was just pissed about the time jump because its like, so you mean to tell me I missed ALL the emotional shit when it came to those people actually coming together... Like you draw it out and then are like anyways in 2 sentences and now we are here... no? no.
I've never been interested in manga but recently I've wanted to try this. Great video😊🇬🇧
Please more manga content! It’s most of what I’ve been consuming lately 🇹🇹

I've only read the first volume of Fruits Basket, but the anime is soooo cute and wholesome! Now I want to re-watch!
YAS queen! You inspired me to try manga!!!
Our Dining Table sounds amazing!😍 I love these manga videos, also if you haven't read Shiver by Junji Ito yet I would highly recommend that!
I’m loving the manga content! 🇺🇸
I actually really love Kamisama Kiss, and read it mostly by ordering the volumes from the library. Definitely check them out that way before you commit. I own the first and last volumes though, but I wish I owned them all because I would really like to reread the series. 🎏

🇭🇺 I am contemplating buying the Inuyasha manga collection. I loved the anime when I watched it (17 years ago)
yesss , keep the manga era upp
Thnx for recommending 🇮🇳
I really recommend The Faraway Paladin and Magus of the Library!! It's sooo amazing 😍

I can’t wait for your reactions to Jujutsu Kaisen; it does nothing but climb higher and higher 😩👌🏻💖
This is the content I need in my life! I would love to hear your thoughts on Tokyo Ghoul, Death Note, Deadman Wonderland, and Uzumaki by Junjo Ito.
OK...here are my recommendations... Erased, Your Name, Weathering with you, Ride Your Wave, Death Note, A SIlent Voice, Komi Can't Communicate, and Orange
🏳️🌈🤠 I am in the middle of Monster Vol. 1 because of you, and the story has me by the throat. I am obsessed. Thank you for starting my manga era.

I wanna recommend a manga series to you. it’s a long series and it has horror elements and mystery it’s called “case closed” the actual name of it is detective conan, it’s great and it has so many theories and interesting characters

Hello Katie. Love your videos. My husband and I we're discussing that you should read the manga "berserker"
Please continue AOT via yhr anime if you are syruggling as the story is amazing. I havent read JJK just watched the series /movie as the animation studio goes HAM the fight scenes are amazing!! Xx
Yayyyyyy let's see where everyone's from 🇷🇸
Look into a series called kanata no astra I feel like you would LOVE it!

🇭🇷 Saw on Good Reads you read some Promised Neverland and I can't wait to see your reactions while reading it 😁😝
I am unbelievably late for this but if you read this: Oyasumi PunPun or Goodnight PunPun.

A great read, an incredible fucking series, but it's going to leave you emotionally drained.
That’s a good way to put it and puts it into perspective. Thank you!
@@KatieColson Don't thank me, not when I promise you'll suffer Emotional Damage(tm) like I did 😅.
But you're welcome, and thanks for reading!
I recently heard of a horror manga/novel that I think youd love: Uzumaki by Junji Ito
uzumaki is absolutely amazing! no longer human by junji ito is one of my faves 🖤
I think that you should try reading some light novels. Some that I would recommend would be Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation and Classroom of the Elite.
Early and Excited 👍🏾🤩
If you want a fun and sometimes angsty gay time I recommend Given by Natsuki Kizu. The anime is also absolutely amazing.
🏴this was a great video
Lots of incredible titles and so sorry about the ending of blue flag it was really a let down
Take care

I have not yet read I want to eat your pancreas, but it sounds like you'd like Orange by Ichigo Takano... if you liked that book.

Hi Katie 🇺🇸🇺🇸
Claymore, monsterous girls battling monsters. defines a broad spectrum of women relationships in a shounen sense. And complete
Try Deadman Wonderland, where a middle school boy is accused of murdering his entire class and is sent to jail, but in post-apocalyptic Japanese jail, it's all a battle Royale for entertainment. So twisted, but so entertaining.
💚💚💚💚💚
🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈! If you love Deathnote, I’d definitely recommend Platinum End! Some other favourites you would enjoy:

Deadman Wonderland
Full metal Alchemist!

Blue Flag is the reason why you dont go out and by all of the volumes. Congratulations, you've just wasted all that hard earned money
That was a really mean comment. Do better
The nice thing about hard earned money is that the person who earned it can spend it however they want. 🤗
