It is fun. I did have to find a microphone though. I got a couple dozen new countries on 15m.

10m has to be the hottest I remember in 46 years! My EFHW wire up only 20 feet and my 40 year old TenTec are killing it!

The cool thing about qrp is that the link can close if the other side is doing the heavy lifting. That’s on advantage of working contest weekends. You tend to run into stations with awesome antenna configurations, sited at awesome locations, and running high dollar equipment.

I just picked up the IC-705 myself several weeks ago. Just in time to work this contest! From Utah to Japan on 10 Watts - amazing! I have only bought Yaesu products up until this point. I'm pretty impressed with the IC-705. I don't know; it just might make me an Icom fan! DE K7RLN

I have a 705 and when I transmit my spectrum scope does nothing. Do you think I have a bad mic?

There is a setting that makes it so you don't see anything on the spectrum when you tx.... It may be set that way, not sure what it's called. ALSO, MAKE SURE the audio is set to MIC and not USB

actually he was wasn't as the contest is for the U.S. to work only dx working a usa station doesn't do the station doing the contest a thing no points (etc)
