I myself wouldn’t have gone to see this, but I can’t remember the last time me and a good handful of my family members all got together to go watch a movie. This movie is doing just that. Garfield just has that much power over my family 😂
Or wait and take the family to see Inside Out 2 instead (which is likely going to be much better than this)
@@alexp601 not my choice to make buddy, if it was 1 to 3 which is what I’m usually against, maybe, but we’re talking 1 to 10 here 😂 besides, I’m not gonna go into full detail, but this movie carries some weight within my family right now. Unfortunately, the family member who planned it all passed recently. My cousin. My fam decided it was best to watch it in her honor. I’m definitely watching it now too.
@@NinthShinigamiI Garfield is fun enough and you will have a fun time
I found it a bit of a love letter to us, around later 30's, that grew up watching the old TV show, with the pop culture jokes and getting them adapted to contemporary days. I was searching for clever easter eggs, even expecting to see US Acres characters, somehow or somewhere. Animation wise I found it a total recall to the 80's-90's style, which made me feel full of nostalgia. I agree, it is a total stream movie.
I think his kids would be interested in the old Garfield movies, to give them a deep dive on Garfield.
Sounds like it's more akin to the 2020 Scoob! movie when a Garfield movie should be more like the 2015 Peanuts movie where the animation is amped up but the overall story and character designs are reminiscent of the original comics and cartoons.
I read the Garfield strip and watch the cartoons frequently. I haven't seen the movie but it doesn't sound off brand to me. In the Garfield show wild stuff always happened. There was one episode where he had to fight a man eating plant like in little shop of horrors. In the Garfield show there was an episode where a leprichan made him lucky all the time and he got sick of the good luck.
yeah but at least scoob having out there ideas made sense for the other Hanna-Barbera properties they're adapting
while in garfield it doesnt make sense
@@flashfire9825 It makes perfect scene for Garfield. In Garfield, anything goes as long as he is bored and doesn't want to be there and its really silly. They have done all sorts of crazy things in the animated shows over the years. In the Garfield show Lasanga aliens tried to take over the earth.
Sean, can we expect a ranking of all three theatrically released Garfield films this weekend?
Yup , as well as it’s original animated tv show
@ahmadmohammed4212 That's not really possible. There's 121 episodes of the show. That's 40 hours of watching for one video
@@SeanChandlerTalksAbouthe meant just the movies, not the show.
@@theatrejunkie Uhhhh he said, "as wella s it's original animated tv show"
Did you look to see who I was responding to?
I interested in that if Sean interested In doing it
As a big fan of the Emperor’s new groove, I’m really rooting for this movie!
❤❤❤❤❤❤
lol I got an ad for it right before the video.
I find it a good coincidence this movie is coming out the same year Tubi finally releases the Garfield show here in Canada.
On another note, I've grown use to calling Garfield Gazorpazorpfield after that Rick and Morty episode.
Here's an idea for a Garfield movie. It could be about Jon deciding whether or not to give up Garfield, who proceeds to cause more and more trouble. It would be an interesting story that has been referenced but not really expanded upon.
At least it an improvement over the live action films and given that Mark Dindall, the director of The Emperor’s New Groove and Cats Don’t Dance, directed this film, it not as bad as his last film, Chicken Little which I can’t blame him for happened during production.
L for the Chicken Little Production
I of course adore Chris Pratt as a person. He one of most likeable, funniest people in Hollywood and he is an amazing actor but man they need to stop casting him for everything 🙄. Like it has become a joke now and it's not even a surprise when he gets cast for animated roles. The exact same thing goes for Akwiafina as well. A fantastic actress but shes in every single voice role
I hate hate trains like the ones they're getting but yeah, it wasn't the best casting. I liked Akwiafina in Kung Fu Panda 4 though.
Snoozefest
Lorenzo Music will forever be my Garfield.
As some one who reads the strip all the time, has watched Garfield and Friends, and hasn't seen the movie I don't mind the idea of a heist plot. Garfield is a very flexible character. In the show there was an epsidoe where Jon wanted to pitch a cartoon to an animation studio about a lazy cat. Garfield was scanned into the computer and he kept getting tortured by the digital images in the computer because all cartoons are made with computers these days. Crazy stuff happened all the time in Garfield and Friends. A talking car once fell in love with Jon.
Fun Fact: This is the second time in Garfield media where we get to see his parents.
The first time was with “Garfield On The Town” where we get to see him reunite with his mother.
I love that special. Made me tear up last time I saw it.
I love the Garfield Christmas special. I watch it every year! I am looking forward to this but not overly excited!
My history with Garfield is basically the same as you. The fluff ball after hair dryer joke has been done countless times, I think top tier was in paddington. That's disappointing they weren't able to make it impressive how great it would've been to be excited for it and then satisfied w/the result, oh well.
I always love the character Garfield especially with the old comics from late 70s up until early 2000s. I enjoyed Gafield and Friends, The Garfield Show, and The Garfield movie back in 2004. I started to get excited for this movie, but honestly my excitement faded the more trailers it was posted and to be quite honest I'm fine with just skipping this movie.
Bill Murray is the only celibacy who can do a Garfield voice justice.
I still watch the Garfield Christmas special every year, but I don't think Garfield works as a full feature.
Mushroom kingdom here we come
The super Mario movie was 10x better than this garbage. And I didn’t even like the super Mario movie that much
Me and my Girlfriend are going to see it tonight!
I used to watch Garfield and friends all the time! I also would go to my school library and check out Garfield books alot. I've been reading the strips in the weekend newspapers basically since i could read.
I like the Garfield show that ran from 2008-2016 it’s hilarious. Sticks close to the comic strips.
Most people don’t know this new Garfield movie is really the 6th Garfield that’s been made. I wasn’t aware they made 2 Garfield movies in the early 2000’s. And also 3 CGI animated Garfield movies ! Yikes .
I don't know how much money it will gross but if it grosses over $373 million it will surpass Tintin as the highest-grossing animated movie distributed by Columbia Pictures not produced by Sony Pictures Animation
Maybe the best way to make a Garfield film is to go down the road of something like Pulp Fiction and have three stories that tie together at the end.
What’s the link for your Letterboxd?
I get what people mean when they say taking Garfield’s character and what he actually does which isn’t much, beside eat, and take naps, and try to turn that into a 90 minute movie based off what he does in the comic strips , wouldn’t really work, it would be a boring movie . Even though he’s funny.
I like the movie all in all. It was funny, kid-centric, clean humor, the whole mission impossible like heist was much to be desired, unoriginal to me, but it wasn’t a bad movie.
I think it’s possible to still do it , but just have to be creative. I’m curious will there be any more Garfield movies after this ?
Thanks for the review
and lets not forget the specials on tv that wass reminding me of this movie
I feel the same about the trailer stuff. I haven't seen the film but I grew up with comics and a slightly later iteration of the show, but this looks more like a secret life of pets movie.
Sean chandler have you seen the old Garfield movies? If you did can you rank the thatical release Garfield movies? And please talk about the venom and 10 year old Peter Parker idea?
Could we see a ranking of the garfield movies (04 movie, a tale of two kittens, get real, pet force and 24 movie)
Yeah, I would wait for it to come on the streaming services 😅
Love Garfield. Cant wait to see Garfield 6 yes this is 6th Garfield movie. The 2 live action ones plus the 3 straight to dvd ones along with this
I'm excited but like you I'm also very skeptical!
nice review
hope you see Furiosa review
Of course I will be reviewing Furiosa
the garfield show from cartoon network was awesome
Judging by the trailers it looks like an illumination knock of the same tired out humor.
Sean, can we get a reaction to the new Deadpool & Wolverine Heineken ad?
What do you think about the life action Garfield movies? 🤣🤣
Well I'm sure the Garfield animated movie will still be fun
I can't wait to see this movie! I'm excited.
Imagine if we got Garfield 3 Flabby Tabby.
“KOOPAS”
I am actually really Surprised you haven't seen The 2 Live- Action versions Sean of The Garfield Movies
This was fun! It was fluffy and sweet.
I had grew up watching the threatrical movies, the first movie storyline was too thin, but Bill Murray's performance was great. The sequel has a better storyline, where it follows the story format, and it could be really funny and a nice scene fron Jennifer Love.
This is FURRiosa weekend....
Garfield and Furiosa Mad Max Saga
They overused the mission impossible references then said something about Tom Cruise he wasn't even in the movie I don't get it and Ving Rhames didn't even have to use a mission impossible reference
saw it may 5th. i agree with ur opinion
You should make Garfield movies from worst to best. 😹
i went with my gf and we both really liked it so i’m happy with it
best movie ive seen this year tbh
There's no way this movie will get a sequel
Based off what you’re describing, and the fact they hired Chris Pratt (who doesn’t like lasagna?), it seems like there is no passion for Garfield.
Seems like you’d do better at the script of a *Garfield* adaptation that this adaptation.
.....But was it better than the Bill Murray ones?
i do wanna see this
Me too
@@paulienuti8031 I love ur avatar I love loud house and Casagrendes
Did they explain what happened to the mother? Where are his other siblings? I need answers in my Garfield movie, LOL!
So many great possibilities for the sequels
@@SeanChandlerTalksAbout Awkwafina as a sister or his mom, sign me up, haha!
You should try watching the animated trilogy of films starting with Garfield Gets Real. The new movie is amazing compared to those
Hey Sean! Your kids loves all movies or they have some movies they dislike? Man, my nephew kinda hate some movies(mostly female Superhero movies and some of The Disney live action…) and he’s about the same age as your son…
yeah they dislike a number of films or they just have zero interest in seeing them
I think it looks generic, but pretty fun. My brother and mom are going to see this while I see furiosa on Saturday lol.
My name is Garfield.
You are just a Garfield snob. It’s a 10/10 masterpiece.
Seems accurate. I'm often called a Garfield gatekeeper.
3 out 5 it was fine
Sean, if you thought this was generic, you should go see 'The Strangers: Chapter 1'.
lol, he probably will
I enjoyed it!
why didn't you compare it to any of the Garfield movies?
Because I have not seen any other Garfield movies.
My girlfriend is very excited, and i will watch it with her, the live action is one of my childhood movies
Yikes am stiil seeing the flim this weekend. And seriously NOT EVERY ANIMATED FLIMS NEED TO BE A MASTERPIECE
9:45 Well beep you
Hi sean
your kids are cute
Having Chris Pratt voice all characters makes Cain feel very stale. This is the same reason I’m not seeing Martin Scorsese’s Frank Sinatra biopic with Leonardo DiCaprio (if it happens).
You if they made this film on Heathcliff maybe it would’ve been better
The songs don't ignite your interest like it does me
I just saw it and... it's ok! The animation is pretty, the music is nice, Odie is funny and cute (Like Gromit the dog) John is not there often but he's a kind guy and the voice actor did a good job. The rest was boring!
None of the jokes made me laugh, Otto the bull's story had nothing to do with the plot, Jinxs is not funny or scary.
Vic is a terrible father! He abandon his son, TWO TIMES; never appologise for it either. He could look for food with Garfield but had to leave him ALONE in an alley. A dog could attack his kid, the pound could take him. The cat never though about that, what a jerk ☹
15 minutes early!!!
Yep if it isn't Chris Pratt it's Awkwafina when comes to animated films.
Only women gave good reviews, why is that?
*Kinda speaks for itself doesn't it, as compared to the female-led and titled FURIOSA met with even fewer female audiences than Fury Road in the first place*
second
I never had high hopes for this movie. I saw the trailer once and could tell it's mid.
I think IF would have been better then this
rank all the garfield movies: garfield 2024 garfield 2004 live action garfield live action 2 garfield fun fest garfield gest real garfield pet forse
plz
I grew up with Garfield comic strips and still read them today. What I notice now is that Garfield is not a kid's character. There is a lot of dark humor and dark subject matter such as depression. And Garfield himself is a lazy cat who loves being that and doesn't wanna change. That's the whole joke. That's what I love about comic strip . So having a Garfield movie that has kids humor and character arc for Garfield seems like a complete misfire
The movie was way too long and boring. 6/10. The more I think about it the more I dislike it
I was also with some of my family who are younger and they were bored with it. So it was boring for kids teens and adults
Bro its a Garfield movie.. And Chris Pratt has only voiced Three characters in the fifteen years he's been popular.
Two Lego Movies, Onward, Mario, and Garfield. That's enough high-profile voice acting! Save some for others 😅
Bro....why did you just tell me the Garfield movie is a Garfield movie?
You're watching a video where I spend multiple minutes explaining all the ways they minimized Garfield in the film with non-Garfield-esque things. You responded..."Bro it's a Garfield movie."
I have no idea what that means.
@@SeanChandlerTalksAbout it means lighten up.
@@14DAVEYO He’s a movie critic, his job is to critique a movie. Do you want him to lie in his review?
@zackarydecicco3919 definitely not. I enjoyed the review. Just disagree on his negative comments on the voice actor. After the mario movie comments..i hope chris pratt voices everything and everyone
