Another one of your videos that you are dropping nothing but jewels, and I totally appreciate it! I went back and forth with myself at one point if I should charge for a whole bag of something or basically take a hit to my pockets which would make no sense and how I should charge for certain things and here you are with the confirmation again! Thank God for you sharing your experience, insight, and information.
Awesome, glad to help confirming. Pricing is an ever changing issue. I always try to remember the saying if you are fully booked you are not charging enough! lol Thank you for watching
Been doing balloons decor off and on for a few years, this is the best video and down-to-earth assessment for starting a balloon business. I loved this video.
I was just looking for something decorative for family functions. Came across your very informative and honest video. I appreciate you sharing. So far, the best I’ve come across. Others show them actually doing their beautiful work, but nothing about the quality of balloons and where to purchase. Thank you.
Good info. Not only do you have to think of using parts of a bag but like you said too if they want 4 different colors and you use different sizes that becomes part of your price consideration also.
You are so kind for helping others ! My girlfriend has been talking to me about starting a balloon & backdrop business and she has so many doubts but after showing her your videos made her want to take the leap of faith. Would you say learning the balloon technique it’s self is hard ? Did you take any classes ?
Hi, thanks so much for watching and congratulations on yours and her new adventure. The balloons is not hard at all. But I will say it is more ART than anything else. It took me a while to figure out why our balloons weren't looking like others on Instagram, Facebook, etc. Styling the balloons is HARD but fun and rewarding when your vision comes to life, how you thought it would. Really blowing up balloons and attaching them is easy and you have a lot of different tips and tricks on how you can do them. I have been wanting to do a video on balloons soon, with all the tips and tricks I learned by searching the internet and slowing down the setups to learn, lol. I did not take any classes, just researched and a lot of trial and error working with my wife and sis. It was a learning process for sure. So the hard part to learn is also the funnist part. It is designing in your head or on paper what you want the garland to look style wise. And then have it actually look like it definitely takes, practice, patience, creative eye and your own style. I am not great at that part but there are definitely a lot of people online that are artist when it comes to that. I think looking up one of those classes will help speed up the process for sure. Thanks and let me know if you have any other questions. Hope that was helpful.
Sooo much good information! Thank you for sharing. You answered my question on this video about the balloon shortage that I asked on another video. Thank you!
Thank you for watching. And yes for sure, what works for some doesn't always work for others. I try to give information so that people can decide what's best for them. Glad I could help!
Hola it’s Dee , Love this video . Sometimes it gets so overwhelming . I started years ago but it was more so just to show myself that I can do it . Since covid I attempted to start as a business . Baby steps lol We’ve talked before ! Working on my mindset, I feel that’s holding me back . 😢😢 I wish you and your family much success . Tell them Dee said HI 👋🏽 Thanks again 😍
Hi, Dee yes I know. It can be overwhelming getting started for sure. Definitely stay positive and confidence is key in starting your business. Know your worth and what you bring to the event. I wish you very much success as well!!
Great info, superhelpful!! I’m starting my balloons business and I want to learn as much as I can about it. Greetings from South Texas!! Already liked and subscribed!!
I hate to be negative, but I did have more problems with Tuftex balloons than most other brands. I've had a few jewel tone balloons from Tuftex pop during inflation. I never had this issue with other brands.
Hi, thanks for watching. I am not sure which are the best. I bought these off of Dollar Tree a long time ago. They look good for show, but not that functional. If I need to take balloons with me, I find I use a closable container a lot better. Most of the time I just use one of the clear rectangular container that has a lockable lid, stuff balloons in there and take it with me. I have tried to take these round containers but the lid does not lock and they roll over alot. So I would think about transport more than how it looks to store your balloons.
Hi, thanks for watching. They are all quality balloons and really the difference is only going to be color and size. They are all made from different companies so they have different color palates. For instance tuff tex has less of a shine than qualatex on some of its balloons. So really you will use them all to give you a variety of custom colors. Hope this helps.
Good morning and thank you for the video nice little breakdown. I actually have a photo booth business but a lot of people ask for minority backdrops and I’ve been watching your videos good stuff keep up the good work
Do you send your clients invoices for the balloon material? To basically breakdown the pricing? I’m new to the balloon community. it started as a hobby but now I’m getting inquiries of my work, but is it smart to send invoice of the cost of material outside of what I would charge for the labor
When we did do balloons. I just kept it a straight fee plus delivery/setup fee. I did not break down how much everything costs. Because pricing changes all the time and when you get more confidence, your price goes up as well. If someone was trying to break down why we charged what we did, or tried to say they will buy the balloons. I just said that's not something we do and nicely declined to work for them. It usually isn't in their budget, so you will end up paying from your time to decorate their party. I did that mistake a lot in the beginning and always regretted it. Trust me when you get the clients who don't even bat an eye at your pricing and just book you on the spot. They are almost always the best clients to work with and just let you do your thing. Some one who micromanages everything can just make your stomach hurt working for them, not worth it. Learned the hard way, lol. I hope this helps on your new journey and good luck!
Thank you for your honest and informative video. I am just starting out, it's me alone, so I am trying to learn as much as possible. I have subscribed to your channel. I hope RUclips algorithm picks you up if they have done so already.
Thank you so much for subscribing and commenting. I definitely try to put the best content I can, so hopefully people watch enough that You Tube recommends our channel more. I am glad my videos have helped you and thanks for watching!
Thank you very much for this informative video. I agree this TEXAS heat weather is like no other. I really do say the qualatex and Belatex are the best 👍
Thank you so much for sharing your experience. This video was extremely informative. On average how many balloons would you say that you use in a standard garland? Thanks
Hi thanks for watching. And I really couldn't say as we had different sizes all the time from 12ft to 16-18ft garlands. We would try to use all different sizes from 5in, 11in, 16in and 3ft. We initially were trying to calculate balloons individually but realized because people want custom colors and different colors it wasn't working. So we switched to pretty much charging the whole bag for each color requested. Most of the time we would use about half to 3/4 of the bag with some left over. With balloon pricing going up it was the only way to make sure we made a profit on each setup instead of ordering a bunch of balloons and waiting. So we would book the colors and order the balloons charging the customer. Hope that helps!
HI, sorry I do not have any links for the balloons. I just mainly buy from All American Balloons or PS helium Balloons. As they both have quality balloons, large variety and ship fast. Hope this helps and good luck!
Hi thanks for watching. Right now there is a balloon shortage so really it is what you can get for colors. The main brands are qualatex, tuff tex, betallatex. I would suggest picking the colors you would like and looking online for their availability in those brands. You may have to piece some together. Thank you!
I love gemar balloons , especially shiny gold . I’m in Florida , I can imagine in Texas . I helped another girl she had them blown up too big . . I use tuftex outside events . I feel you learn as you go and update prices as you know how much . I have to get that sangria ! Also when they are out I get the 11 inch and make them into 5 inches . Balloons always look so much smaller outside so now I use the 11 inch for my 5 inch and 5 inch will look like 3 inches lol . I need to work on posting . I have no excuse just fear lol . 👍🏽great video , I’ve been doing balloons for years as a hobby . Turning into a business has been difficult but I’m habit in there . 🙌🏽 Look into google business . I know I have a lot of advise lol I need to take my own 🤣🤣🤣 good luck 👍🏽 I’ll send you my tree I made !
Hey, thanks for watching. Yes I like gemar gold as well. It is made out of a different material than the standard gemar and is offered in larger sizes than qualatex, so we used it a lot. Never had any issues with their shiny gold for sure👍. Yes using different 11 in as 5 in is a must, especially with the balloon shortage. And tuftex outside holds up well. Thank you for taking the time to leave your comment I know it these tips will help us all!
Nice set up. Can you tell me where you get those jars from? They seem like they work out pretty good. Thanks for the videos. I am just getting started in a balloon business, so I appreciate all your ideas and knowledge going forward.
Hi, thanks for watching. I got those jars from dollar tree online. I just wanted something cheap that I could buy a lot of and worked well for balloons. They are good for display but in actuality the plastic containers under my desk I show work better. You can stuff more in their and are easy to transport if you need balloons on location, which we always take extra with us. And Awesome, Im glad my videos are helpful to your new business. If you ever have any questions or topics just let me know.
Hi, there are a couple in the city I live in. But most of the time I order online as it is more convenient for me especially taking the time to order the exact colors I need or substitute. I do go to the ones near me as well, but more when I have short notice and need it fast. I do find I can get a better deal online some of the times. So definitely don't forget about online sales. Good luck!
Hi, I bought the containers online from Dollar Tree maybe two years ago. They look nice but I don't really recommend them. As sometimes I had to take them and it would of been better if they had a better lid and stackable. Thanks for watching!
Hi, YES you have to. It is double the balloons and also more labor. As it more time consuming and a pain to double stuff. But double stuffed balloon setups look awesome!!
Hi thanks for watching. The Jars I got from Dollar Tree Online. Not sure the size but the larger ones. They look great on the wall but functionally I just prefer small plastic containers that I can lock and stack together easily. I can easily just stuff bags into small locked containers incase I need to take some to an event. You cant really take those to an event if you have to. But there great on the wall, if that's what your going for. Thank you.
Thankyou so much for the information, can you please leave the links to the balloons website please there’s so many similar don’t want to go for the wrong one
lol thank you very much, your comment made my day! I just cant see myself charging for me speaking. But yes I have seen so many courses everywhere and people are offering more and more. And 2 hrs lol, I have to chop my videos down so much cause I just keep talking. I don't know if I will ever have the time to put a course together but enjoying adding what I have learned on here for free. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment!
This is an awesome video! So informative. Quick question if you’re able to answer. I’m just starting a small business of event decorating & set ups and have been charging $150 for balloon garlands of 12 feet (I buy in sets from a reselling brand with good quality balloons for about $80) so I’m not making much of a profit. Many customers ask me very last minute for orders so would it be more beneficial to order from these sites you mentioned in bulk? I’m just not sure what colors to have on hand. Did you guys just begin by buying most colors in bulk? So sorry for the long question but thank you in advance if you are able to respond!!
Hi, Congrats on your new business! I can tell you that last minute orders will always pop up and sometimes it is not always a good idea to take them on. If you have the colors, time and have great communication with that customer, than the less stress those can be. But it took me some time to see that every order was not for me. If I didn't have the balloons or we were already pretty booked. I hated it but I learned it was better to decline. Those last minute orders can be stressful finding colors, sizes and at a price that you still make a profit is a tough situation. Especially ordering balloons hoping they would get there in time for the event or driving around wasting time and more money was not a great start for our business. I can tell you it became a lot less stressful focusing on events that gave you time to create your best work and where you make a good profit. I can not tell you what colors to have on hand as we ordered per event to make sure we did not lose money. We required a non refundable deposit mainly to order the balloons. Every event is different and people are constantly wanting different colors or shades of colors. The way we ended up building all the balloons in the back was from orders. If someone ordered three colors and three sizes to make it look organic. Then I charged them for it, even if I only used 25% or 50% of that bag. Then after a couple of balloon garlands I would have a couple of bags of pink left over, reds, greys, etc. But anytime somebody ordered a balloon garland if I had the color I would still order the bags and charge for them, because my prices were already set with the balloons in mind. Then when I would get that last minute order I would tell them the colors I could do because of short notice using those left over bags. To me, you do not want to order so many balloons because people will still want balloons you don't have and it will feel like you are digging yourself out of a hole putting all that money into stocking balloons. Now once you have more experience and selling so many garlands, then maybe have some basic colors in stock. But just starting out, I would save or use that money somewhere else in your business. Sorry for rambling on but thats what I did and hope that helps you in your business!
The best advice I can give, is to mention another RUclips channel that covers this topic so well. And she constantly posts new videos with different topics that all focus on starting your own balloon business. She's awesome, she has classes, contract templates and so much resources I am sure you will find all the answers you need. Her channel is www.youtube.com/@YesEventDecor Good luck on you new adventure!!
Hi thanks for watching. We have not reused balloons. Usually we take the balloons to the event. Then when we pick up, we ask if they want to keep the balloons because they paid for them. If they do not we pop the balloons on site or throw them in the trailer and pop later to throw away. We dont reuse balloons because balloons do deflate some, storing is not optimal, un-tieing balloons they lose their elasticity and do not look good. I would not recommend to re-use balloons, just charge customers for the balloons and each time you will have them pay for them. Hope this was helpful.
Hi I got the containers from Dollar Tree. I found them on their website, not in the store. Not sure the exact name but if you search their website it is their bigger one. They do sell a smaller one but that wouldn't hold much. Thanks for watching!
Hi, thanks for watching. I am still going to be making content for this RUclips channel. Its been growing really well. So I will still be doing balloon and prop videos because I know that would of helped me out when I started. But I'm really busy with work to be booking events like we were, so that part will slow down. Right now I am more focused on creating videos for RUclips, which I will continue to post weekly. Thank you for your question.
I am just starting and was just wondering how long did it take for you guys to grow your clientele? Still need to post more of our work and put it on Instagram and FB
Hi thanks for watching. Honestly we did like 3 setup just to take pics and show what we can do and post them. We had inquires that day on. Now not every inquiry was a booking. In the beginning we would take a lot of quote requests before we would get one booking. But after time we were able to tell who was more serious and I created a template of our backdrops and pricing. So we wouldn't have to quote so much. People would just message I would send a template with basic packages we had at the time. And if they messaged back then they were comfortable with our pricing, if they didn't I did not chase or follow up. And it grew quick. The more events and photos we posted the more messages we got. We have taken a break and not booking any events for a while because RUclips takes a majority of my free time also the Etsy store. But the thing I can say is really just to put yourself out there and if your work is what people are looking for they will find you. Good luck.
@@crystalhernandez5659 Your Welcome. That is a difficult question as that would depend differently to everyone. I work in the medical field, my wife and my sister are stay at home mom's. So for them it was extra money but we didn't book as much as we could as I worked full time and my wife and sis were comfortable booking a couple of events each weekend. And would decline work a lot just because they didn't want to book too much a weekend.😅 There people who do decorating and depend on this as a income. For me I am a busy body so I just love making new things and learning. No business is easy and just like everything, the work you put into it will be the result you get out of it. That being said the main costs are going to be balloons and transportation. Which you bill the client for and everything else is billed as your time really. I know somebody in our area who was doing 12-15 events a weekend. They were hustling and we weren't interested in being that busy.😆
@@MakerDecor thank you sooooo much I appreciate that information and honesty! I work in the medical field as well and just barely starting this small balloon business here in Denver so hope it all goes well… I like my weekends too lol I have a life my 4 month old and 3 year old need me! I just thought this would be a great side hustle
The knock off brand u showed, they are pretty good. I had an outdoor install and it worked I didn't have any pop. I'm im Cali and the weather was hot that day. I had to use that brand because of the shortage.

Thankyou so much for the information, can you please leave the links to the balloons website please there’s so many similar don’t want to go for the wrong one
If you sold a course I would definitely take it. There’s someone on tik tok selling her flower wall course for $500 and it’s a 2 hr class 😂
lol thank you very much, your comment made my day!
How can I start my own balloon business
The best advice I can give, is to mention another RUclips channel that covers this topic so well. And she constantly posts new videos with different topics that all focus on starting your own balloon business. She's awesome, she has classes, contract templates and so much resources I am sure you will find all the answers you need. Her channel is www.youtube.com/@YesEventDecor Good luck on you new adventure!!
Do you re use balloons? If so what are some tricks for un-tieing and reusing in general
Do you sale a chart for double stuffed balloon combos? TIA
I have started making one but I did not finish it. Hopefully I can create one soon because I have been wanting to.
this is gonna sound random, but do you know where someone can get the best price on weather balloons. The giant ones are like $150 a pop!
Hi, I am sorry I do not.
What are the website you used?
Hi thanks for watching. The website I used was WIX to create it. It was simple but it took me some time trying to find the style I wanted for It.
Where did you get the containers and what’s the name of it thank you
Hi I got the containers from Dollar Tree. I found them on their website, not in the store. Not sure the exact name but if you search their website it is their bigger one. They do sell a smaller one but that wouldn't hold much. Thanks for watching!
Great video thanks !
Did I get it wrong: you mentioned $120-150 for a 12-foot garland? If that's the case, then you are definitely undercharging...
Thanks for sharing

Are you going to stop doing balloons?
Good luck.
@@MakerDecor thank you for responding one more question would you say it’s all worth it? Like it’s enough to make a living?
Thank you so much for watching and commenting. Yeah definitely have had to try different brands due to the shortage.
