The thing that is special with this type of animation or mocapping is the actor or animator has imbued the attitude of the monkey into regular animations if you know what i mean.... the standing pose has an attitude to it, the way the monkeys head is tilted etc.... it has urgency and attitude.... its good demonstration i guess for people who want to get into animation or drawing etc

This is their first AAA game! imagine them now having the confidence and letting go and going all out!!? Same with the other Chinese devs wanting to test themselves internationally...... heck im blown away by stuff like Genshin and Z Z Z and i didnt know they were Chinese at first!
Mocapped.... They have their own mocap studio or they used a mocap studio..... i think they even mocapped their own cat for one of the beasts! all from Gamesciences own YT channel or platforms... they used real martial artists..... the polish and the money that went into this production is INSANE for an INDIE! We in the West associate indie with pixel art copy and pastes! These first time AAA indie guys using UE5, Mocapping, full orchestra and singers and musicians and choirs!! Also have a look at Phantom Blade 0!!! They have mocapping and famous HK director / Action Director! And you can tell by the influenece! Its oldschool 80s 90s Wuxia Yuen Woo Ping HK action! the art style very reminiscent of peace hotel i think its called maybe, actually not peace hotel! i cant remember.... and chinese ghost story a movie on youtube! and one of the recent martial arts Wuxia flick called "Shadow" its got that style and flavour
Love how feet slide all the time in the final product. You worry so much about that when you are working , but in the end it kinda doesnt matter lol Amazing work, but one weird thing is the jump. When it lands it doesnt transition to the down pose and goes back up smoothly. It does a weird double take and then finishes the animation giving it like a weird janky effect. Maybe its a gameplay thing but its distracting every time you jump
Yea the feet! lol. I noticed many AAA games have these little flaws in their animations that I’m sure an up-an-coming developer would stress over trying to get perfect when making their own game. So I do these videos to show it doesn’t have to be perfect. Average gamer isn’t even going to see it lol. The janky jump threw me off too. I don’t jump that often but honestly I don’t really notice it when in combat.
@@VideoGameAnimationReferences Yeah im sure game engines one day will get better at it. At the same time, the response time in games is so fast that it will never match naturalistic movements. The one that is closest to this is Red Dead 2 , but we all know how everyone complained about how slow and long those animations are. You have to balance gamplay vs proper animation and at the end of the day, gameplay is king so dont stress too much lol. Overall the animations are super super solid, the latest Unreal keeps improving on blending trees and all that The jump when its running is less distracting, but when its in place its more apparent. Games are so fast and so full with effects this days that i dont even know why bother with anims lol

The run cycle is a little slow and I’ve noticed that since it’s reveal. aside from that this game has incredible animations
yeaa same i remember watching gameplay fighting a monkey in the snow (I reached that part) a while back and noticed it too
