Lol, good old Stratford Rex. Good old One Nation. I went to enough of their dances BITD! Wicked times, man! Still raving with a few original headz now.....just not twice a week!
Ahh, I keep coming back to this, I love it so much! Basketball vests, Helly Hansen puffers, Moschino, crop tops- does anything epitomise the 90s more? Can imagine the cold air of that stairwell now, hearing a muffled speedy bassline on the way up before opening the door at the top and feeling the mania of the dancefloor, with hoovers, horns and rave stabs tearing away at 175bpm. Amazing that Drum & Bass from the 1990s still sounds futuristic in 2023 with its dystopian sci-fi feel and rapid pace.
51 now ...don't know.... have been in London in those years, but this gives me goose bumps imagining could have ended teaching at any Uk university if just decided to move definetely to SOAS in mid 90s..... some of my friends did it.... good times
90s era of junglist was proper bk then, the whole scene was proper bk then. I'm glad I'm old enough to have experience the golden era of junglist. Those old enough knows what I'm saying. 😜 😲 😎. Respect for the upload my G. 💯
True that. Seven Sisters tube to Club UN wasn't exactly like a stroll down High St Ken. The queue wasn't much better. And always worth keeping sharp on the way from Peckham Rye to Lazerdrome. Never any issues in Brixton for Mass though.
@@UndergroundHouseAndTechno Ha, ha...you know that. My brothers girlfriends brother and his mates felt safer when I started raving around 1995. I was 5 years older and a big lad, so a bit of a deterrent from the Tottenham rude boys trying it. lol Good times
Ça me manque ces soirées dnb , kiffer le son et les mcs , juste un taz et on était parti pour la nuit !!! Traverser l’europe pour des soirées DB !! Mentions spéciales pour les soirées starwarz au vooruit à gent 😉
Great looking back at this era, proper Moschino vibes! Have several of these 90s Moschino shirts hanging in my wardrobe including some that are being worn in this video.
03:12 Didnt age well! (Which is a dumb assessment of anything, if you think about it).... As a guy growing up in the 90s, this really was the norm, and also, as a guy, it happened to me as well! Which I know is different... have no idea what I think of it really - I mean historically, contextually, culturally, etc I just know that probably this doesn't happen now, and that some people would be glad, if they knew this was something that happened, and some don't know what they are missing! And there is life - Complicated, and messy!
The golden era!! Unmatchable!! No smoking ban, no smart phones, you could wear what you liked and people loved the music over everything else. The best records shops, pirate radio stations and raves were around. Glad to have experienced those times.
@@Jk-ns8mx id agree. Jungle died in 98 with the legend, don’t need to say his name, we all know. After that was the start of the shit what ppl call dnb nowa days. Having said that 96-98 was my favourite era, Hyper smashing it skiba and shabba in their prime before they got washed
He stopped MCing to DNB and became UK Hip Hop artist for over a decade plus. He briefly made a comeback on the rave scene a few years ago and did set with Nicky Blackmarket.

I still got 6 more years to go!
That walk between Stratford station and the Rex was like running the gauntlet. Only venue in london I genuinely felt on edge. Good though!

anyone been to astoria ?? yeah this is astoria you can tell by the balcony , went to a few new years here back in those early 90's.
Yes! I remember the Astoria. Moved away from Jungle/ DnB scene around 1998, so only went there for Hard House events years after...don't judge 😁
The original jungle crowd moved on from dnb roughly 97 ish and got into speed garage , I'd say this footage is about maybe 96-98?
Do you remember when garage was played in the chill out room of One Nation raves.
close. was 99
For me 1993-1995 was the cream for Jungle - just after the hardcore era! World Dance / AWOL/ Orange nuff said!
