In Africa house workers get a very low pay. But they don't pay taxes, and if they have a good employer they get free food, accomodation, water, electricity, and their kids school fees are paid. If they have a bad emloyer they get treated like slaves. Foreign employers in Africa are always either very generous or extremely cruel, never in between. Also any problems like illness, or they need a loan, the employer is their safety net and are obliged to help out. On one hand i feel sory for them, until you realise that in other countries liek China the lowest tier of workers have it far worse. Those factory workers have no safety net and work long hours in a factory where they are treated like robots, and seen as disposable.
