    This was amazing! Thank you for this video! I will be using this next year for my 6th, 3rd, and kindergartner (my toddler will be along for the ride 😂) I’m thinking there is enough that we will stretch of two years. They are all still so young and I think that we are going to LOVE the Geography Jr ❤

    Thank you so much for this thorough video! My oldest will be using the high school version next year, and I had dismissed the idea of doing the junior version with my rising 3rd and 6th graders just because the books were older and harder to find (and expensive). Almost everything in the new list is available at our library, and we will just purchase a few of the spine books. I hadn't even realized that the two levels didn't match up in the old schedule. And, as you mentioned, the Guests provide excellent customer service. I will definitely be taking advantage of the coupon code.

    I have been hearing a lot about Guest Hollow. Are you using this Geography curriculum alongside a history curriculum? We are using Beautiful Feet Modern America and World History for 2023-2024. Would it be too much to add this in as well?

    • @homeschoolingthroughhighschool
      @homeschoolingthroughhighschool  Год назад +1

      I’m using Guest Hollow World Geography by itself for my middle school girls and my high schooler. It’s very rich so I feel it’d be too much to add a history portion. For my high schooler, this will suffice for his 9th grade “history” credit.
      Another option that people do with Guest Hollow’s High School World Geography is spread it over two years.
      All that being said, it is very easy to pick and choose items in this particular curriculum & teach. It’s a buffet, but I do feel combining it with Beautiful Feet would be too much. 🌻

    This sounds similar to Build your library. I do like this book list better.
    Some books are similar like the cookbook.
    I was wondering if you would wait till kids are older to do this or would you have done it with your 3rd graders?
    What did you do with your kids for geography in 3rd grade.

      Hi! This is designed for grades 1st-6th grade.
      For 3rd grade, we used Abeka which is very different than this. Abeka is old school traditional teaching and this Guest Hollow Geography is hands-on, modern with classical and customizable style teaching. 🌻

    Is this curriculum religious? We are secular and I am wondering to what extent this supports creationism. The note about containing evolution seemed more like a warning so I wonder how it applies that to the other books and videos

    • @guesthollow
      @guesthollow Год назад +3

      From the FAQ on the product page:
      Guest Hollow’s Jr. Geography and Cultures Curriculum is not intended to be a “Christian resource”. However, there may be infrequent (or what we consider to be) minor references or links to resources that mention Christian ideas, values, or sectarian topics even in our secular/non-religious/neutral curriculums.
      If we schedule in a Christian book, we try to give you notice of such in the books and resources page.
      Christians and non-Christians should preview the scheduled books and all other resources such as videos, etc. to make sure they are compatible with your beliefs, philosophies, and values.

      @@guesthollow noted, thank you. I had read through that information. I was asking hths in particular as she is using the curriculum and wanted her opinion after personally using it.

    • @homeschoolingthroughhighschool
      @homeschoolingthroughhighschool  Год назад +3

      Hi! I know that the owners state on their site that they are Christians. The curriculum in- & -out is very neutral. I've found mostly neutral sources with a few Christian themed items for those who wish to use it. If I come across something in a book/video I don't agree with, I just skip that portion. The curriculum is so rich & there is enough elsewhere to cover that part ; I don't feel like my kids miss out on anything. Since every family is unique in their teaching styles & family dynamics, they make special notes about items to be aware of so that I feel is helpful. I appreciate you tuning in. LMK if you have more questions. 🌻
