How dumb of Trimble to remove Sketchup 2017 Free version from their downloads. This is not just me but the online community, The online version will never replace the desktop version for serious users unless extensions are available. I am a Pro user and don't have a bone to pick. Just hate foolish decisions and all those people who help to bring SketchUp into popularity have been smacked in the face again and again.
Agree. Gotta round-trip models thru Blender in order to accomplish a lot of things. Until Trimble (in their infinite wisdom) no longer allows for Collada export, as well. :(
I use Sketchup Pro for Woodworking, cabinetry and home remodel projects. I create individual components, nested components, and groups. I played with several creators on an introductory level, some I use regularly, some I don't. Now I want to learn to create detailed blueprints and house plans. Where do I start and which specific road map of tutorials can I count on to FastTrack me to mastery?
There are a few different teachers/resources to help you fast-track your ability to learn to use LayOut to create detailed drawings. If you're looking for a book, I highly recommend Matt Donley's SketchUp to LayOut book. If you're looking for video courses and personalized help from an instructor, we have a full set of courses to help you use SketchUp and LayOut (along with other related courses). What's everyone's opinion on if I need the Sketchup Pro version for doing just one thing. To draw SHOPS by viewing a project's architectural drawings. I'll only ever need to draw SHOPS. Not design my own projects. Not create new things. Just draw Shops by looking at the architectural drawings, and my shops be used in the field for casework and countertop installations. What's the best program for drafting Shops?
I have a question for which I can't seem to find an answer! I know that I can Export a PNG of my model as it appears in the viewport. Is there also a way (natively or with an extension) to Export an SVG? Where the line work is editable in Inkscape or Clip Studio? Thank You!
In 2023 Trimble offers the choice to download the pro versions of Sketchup 2022 and 2021 but does not make clear if they are free or paid, as they are not included in the pricing plans. Do you know anything about that?
@@SketchUpSchool Thank you for the information. As annual subscriptions frustrate me (I want to own what I pay for) I stick to an old pro classic seat version. By doing so 3d warehouse is practically useless to me. So I am interested in a new free version of sketchup to use as converter for components. Do you think SketchUp free 2023 can do the job?

I can't be sure of what the "best" program would be, but SketchUp would certainly be a great option for the work you need to do.
What is the best software for creating a futuristic city easily?
SketchUp Pro is a great software for creating a futuristic city fairly easily.

Here is a SketchUp forums thread that might be able to help you: forums.sketchup.com/t/export-2d-vector-graphics-svg-view-from-3d-sketchup-model/4355

They are the same price as the 2023 version, but there in case an existing subscriber to SketchUp Pro needed access to a previous version.

The lower priced machine should work fine if you are trying to save a bit on cost.
