I was in an F7 going through some overgrown trackage like this and there were some fallen limbs on the track. When we went ahead to push them aside with the pilot one of the branches reached up and pulled on the emergency fuel cutoff cable and a couple of minutes later the engine died. We used the GP9 behind us to push into the clear where we found the problem, re-primed the fuel and restarted the F.
Aw. I was hoping you would include you guys pulling the old train cars back. Still super cool to see that this was attempted. I've always thought how awesome it would be for a train to attempt going down an abandon set of tracks.
Hey everybody, thanks for all the fun comments. I added the date for all three parts, Sunday night June 17, 2012. Glad you are enjoying the videos. I'll try to find scanner frequencies for OCSR. The track has been rehabilitated and excursions are run with steam and diesel
They need to outfit that with extended radial saw arms to trim everything back as well as lower brush hogs mounted on the lower frame to trim back brush. It wouldnt be that hard to make up a car that sits in front of the engine with specially equipped trimming tools.
Yes, they have those big snow blower attachments. Wonder or never seen a brush clearing attachment? Nice video and need more of them. . Went to google map and check it out, great picture of the area and also in 3d cool.
This is/was awesome! It seems that a work crew would go ahead of the engine because of fallen trees and if an engine was to derail, some of the area would need some heavy equipment to get it up and moving. Anyway 💯❤️ it, keep this stuff going,👍👍👍👍👍
To think that over here in England we have a thing about "LEAVES ON THE LINE". Here you've a veritable forest. Fitting isn't that you need NERVES OF STEEL to run along the IRON ROAD.
I really love the pain job on the GP9. It's a giant Holstein cow. My grandfather would have loved to seen it and maybe even been on it. He was an engineer for the grain elevator at the Port of Tacoma but he loved Holstein cows.
Does anyone know if they ever put in an excursion train that he talked about in the description on the part 1 video? This would make for a very pretty train ride once cleaned up a bit, I would drive over just to take it.
Did I hear "the bell of death" about 2:30 in? I drive a GM JL8 (ex-Irish Rail, built 1962) and hate to hear the bell of death - thankfully it's usually just Ground Relay due to wet in the traction motor, so easy reset and continue.
The 1st video I watched was the scenic video the train rolled the LEFT tracks... this time the train rolled on the RIGHT side!👍🏽❤️😈 these track’s are SO covered in overgrowth!!🙀🥺how the f#€k did THIS train do this without derailing?!?!
Add a weed walker and a mower deck to the front of that F7 and go for it. Just don't hop off the train...we'll never see you again. Nice Video and sound, just need more. This is extraordinary, and really needs to be chronicled with b4 and after shots. Are there actually potential customers for the line? Or is it going to be an excursion line... Thanks for posting. 😊
Jaw Tooth here we meet again! Lol Btw i saw a power move with the following engines: 4 HERITAGE UNITS ON A TRAIN!!!!! Lackawanna Bee Line Lehigh Valley And Conrail!!!
Hai brian,i found this site, lol, its AMAZING!! they need only 1 chainsaw.how is it posible that the track can have those heafy dieselloks after manny yaers?is the wooden layer not rotting away?tel me plaese.greetz:Peerke.
The railroad was shut down after a really bad storm came through and washed out most of the rail line I worked on the road gang in the late eighties. The original line was built in the early twenties for the logging industry at the time. It was a fun adventure to work on the rail line it needed a lot of work to keep the train moving from the town Tillamook Oregon to Hillsboro Oregon
here's a fun one for any oregon coast scenic RR fans... click this google maps link, switch to satellite and zoom in on the track www.google.com/maps/place/15548-15200+Lakeside+Dr,+Rockaway+Beach,+OR+97136/@45.5692398,-123.9454265,841m (disclaimer: google will eventually refresh their satellite data, so at some point in the future this link will be 90% less interesting)
there are so much beauty in your country but here in our India the railway authority is just destroying the orchards and thousands of forests to only in the name of doubling or for the purpose of establishing the bullet train network
It is indeed some kind of a "F" unit with a type 567 engine. I recognize the sound from our local built Nohab units which were retired severeal years ago. A few of these Nohabs are still in service, purchased by private freight operators. A couple are even on standby as emergency service engines.
I think we all should respect the Mother Nature that what a true Vedik Religion says and we all shall have the care for nature in minds ( I have seen the Film " Book Of Eli " there I have seen how be the people turns into rude n ruthless after almost all the natural resources had been destroyed only by n because of the human needs, so we should all be aware from now

Fascinating! Can't believe train can stay on the track. Unique and cool video !
REALLY ? they are damn HEAVY suckers you know.
My god you need more video of you getting the old cars. It’s like going to the louvre and not seeing the Mona Lisa.

So the low brush close to the track grew that high in only 4 years? Oregon rain forest...
R there tracks going as far as California
Thanks for the video I want to know how far the tracks travel south
I love how the Northwest states tend to heal themselves after man has been away for a while.
Not exclusive to northwestern USA, but ok...
When it comes to being a video maker, you're a damn fine railroad engineer! :D
I do my best to keep up with the continued high quality of hand held, tree in face videos.
The world's most expensive lawn mower!
War Emblem “It’s an all-in-one unit, from weeds to trees, this loco clears a path with ease”
@@official_commanderhale965 Trains on here now.
This is an awesome video Rick!!! It's amazing what 7 years of vegetation growth will do to a railroad!

Amazing to see,no derail nothing.unbelivleble thing to see.greetings from the Netherlands. Peerke.
Wow beautiful scenery , make a great tourist train journey

Man I kind of wanted to see the return trip and the after math of the train pushing through some of the densest brush you went through lol
Feels like that we are travelling in Amazons jungle nice filmed video
1:46 (Engineer).. HEY MAN YOU DOING OK BACK THERE??!! (Guy in the back) Y...YEAH! GREAT! JUST GETTING MY FULLY DOSE OF MY DAILY VEGGIES!!! 😏😏😏
I was hoping to see the abandoned trains cars and all the growth from trees around them and the hooking and moving.
To think that over here in England we have a thing about "LEAVES ON THE LINE". Here you've a veritable forest. Fitting isn't that you need NERVES OF STEEL to run along the IRON ROAD.
They should've put like 3 or 4 vertical saw blades on the front and went to it as they kept going forward! Trains to the yard, mowing all done....
This railroad needs to be restored
Awesome video. Wonder how creepy it must be going through there at night.
So cool, I hope at sometime the tracks were cleared for better running.

If you look at Batterson on Google Earth, you can see the open cars standing in the yard.
Tree trimmings en extra fee right lol

Enjoy the videos! Thanks for sharing from Arkansas.
At least you got the moisture out of the air system

I guess the leaves is the train hoppers now lol
So what's going on down there on tracks an wheels ?
Funny how in the Uk trains are cancelled for leaves on the line!
Incredible. I have been a lot of lost railways but nothing like his. Why was it closed?
Their having a Lot of Faith or Hope that the rails are still there
thinking the same thing
Thats a pretty cool video!
Jaw Tooth here we meet again! Lol

people in India or in subcontinent almost most of them have forgotten the needs of trees, you the people from developed nations can show us the path
watching this is like an Indiana jones adventure - really big balls to drive into an unknown jungle not knowing what lies ahead - wow
What made the F7's prime mover die?
Any footage of the old cars?
Wish they would rebuild that railroad again up the salmonberry canyon
I was wondering if you where gunna post part 3
So I have to ask, did anyone ever go through there and clear that out properly after this was filmed?
Were you inspecting whats up with the track before like trying to repair it and get it up and running again??
Hope that engine is not allergic to poison ivy
what rail car was left behine
Man I can smell the freshly cut up bushes and Diesel smoke
This train walking through the abandoned railroads and wood
Where did the train originate from North or South how far south do they go do they go to present city
Yall need a brush cutter in the worst way
Great vid 💪💪
Why not cut the high bushes down
Rail road up keep.needs to be done here

Gotta love going over unmaintained, practically abandoned tracks.
If they don't clear the track of the weeds and trees the FRA Will shut them down!
Poor fella getting slapped like that 😜

Kalau dekat Malaysia habis semua besi Train kena curi oleh jebon
By the sound of it - this engine uses an EMD 567, True?

It should be forbidden to run a train on such poorly maintained tracks. This is the best way to have an accident...
