Bricklaying is not just laying bricks anymore, it's combined with insulation fire breaks ties tape, DPC, and many other concepts of the new building methods that differ on each job. If you cant understand that the person who buys the house is going to live with the consequences of bad work methods for a long time to come it makes it all the more serious that work is carried out properly. From what I see in the short video it is not to a standard that I would expect from a good tradesman. Who do we blame when this happens, well first we look at the cause, and that is easy. Complicated work v Bad price = Cause. They meet in the middle and there is no going back once that happens. In fact, it has happened so many times we have all come across it or being the victim of it. They say the only thing that has changed in the building industry this past 100 years is we don't drink out of Jam Jars anymore. The only thing we have to sell in our lives is our Labour, that being so no one should take this nonsense from any Builder or agent who knows full well the consequence of bad pricing for tradespeople. they know it but still, they do it over and over again. Walking is the answer but not the solution. Walking costs a lot of money men cannot afford. It also causes good men to get disillusioned about the game. So what is the answer? It is having a proper price structure for your work taking everything into account of what it will cost to make a living. we pride ourselves on being good hard workers but our willingness to jump in and try something that is half-blind is our biggest mistake. Don't set a foot on a site unless you have an airtight price structure and a contract to back it up( not their contract but an agreed contract) That sends all the right messages to any of the site agents who think they have a god-given right to abuse Workers. if they don't agree just walk and nothing is lost to you.

We seem to be doing ok on dwh atm but like you we were warned about going over to them. We've not put any trays in like you have there what a ball ache, but we wouldn't get away with the back of the block work like yours they want it pointed like face work and brushed thats the worst of it here up to now. If I see anything like what they have been asking of you, a few mm on the insulation and them daft trays ill be walking the same walk.
The trouble with comments like yours, is people who have no idea what it's like reply. "Do a proper job then " etc. But as an ex jiffy I know what you have to put up with....cold, health and safety, waiting for gear/slow forklift driver , bad agents, all this and more, when all you want to do is a good job, and earn nicely for your skills.
Well 2 weeks later we have walked the walk and it felt good. Pulled the insulation around the frames over 2 mm one side and 2 yeh its 4 mm over all but getting it sung as a bug around the ties and tray for electric box is impossible and the way they want the back of the block work pointing has just killed it. New start tomorrow, good load out and when the weather picks up ££££ to be ernt. Let's have it!!!!
Quiet simple, either you have principles or not. When you hear of decent trades people leaving or sacked off a job and then some muppet backing up the Co. Very simple. Don't take it personally, your obviously happy the way you operate. I've been in the game 40 years, seen it All, met them All.......
First of all I am not a muppet and I have always done well with all of the companies I have worked with. I have been bricklaying more than 40 years. I take pride in my work and I earn a good wage. For one tradesman to call another tradesman a muppet when they don't even know them there's not so much about their attitude.
Got to be done mate we’ve always chopped and changed until we find a good drop
Was it that long ago, don't seem that long😊
Yeah mate. Its been a while 🤣🤣🤣
This is the reason I don't do site work anymore, plenty of work for good bricklayer. Good luck.
Thankyou bud. Yeah we are on a new one Monday boom
Well done lads 👍

Yeah bud. Glad to say goodbye 👋
Well known in leicester david wilson homes for making a mans life a misery.
Built one house for them in Edinburgh never again
Round my neck of the woods its speller metcalf they build shit houses aswell
Lets face it this is what its like on most sites these days, your just a number and there is always someone out their to replace you as you replaced the last gang
Yeah mate. 100% . We are going to a place where I know the format. So we will be fine i reckon. Up the brickys
@@trickybrickys just watched your vid bout the Wilson's site, most agents now are obsessed with winning awards, what the nhbc think of the "standards" of work , how long til this or that is finished , site most be spotless clean etc... Changed loads in the last 10 years & can only see it getting worse. Nhbc have got to much power and say in day to day running of the sites. Health & safety ! little Hitlers they are .Too many rules that are not needed . I've worked for Wilson's for them 10 years and my site agent now is the best 1 out of the previous 6 , just lets you crack on and get your work done. All the best 👍
Cheers bud. Yeah on to pastures new 🤣🤣. Lol
That’s the trouble these days, they want a top job for minimum money.
You guys won't be out of work for long, good bricklayers never are.... Hope your next job is a lot better :)
haaha that montage at the end

You would have loved to chat to my Dad he would have set the foreman straight lol

he had a labour turn up, brand new hod with a staff around 4 ft and new shovel.
The lad had the mixer up right and was trying to knock up a gauge. It got to 10 dad asked how much it cost him to get there on the bus, a few shillings, dad gave him 2pounds and sent him on his way...

Try sheldrake at Rivenhall boys!! Lovely little site
Its ok. we are sorted bud 👍..yeah I know that Bellway site . On forest Road 😉😁😁
Oh the joy's of working on site, been in that position too many times myself, I even went over to Germany to work in 2003 thinking it would be better, the fact is it wasn't, a building site is a building site no matter where you go, just the same old shit but in a different country...I just stick to doing private work now, fuck the sites
Let jonny foreigner have this site! They will soon be on the blower to put work right.

If its that bad you got to move on for a better opportunity.

Justin brickright 👍
Cheers Justin. Yes mate. Good ones are far and few between. But the trickybrickys are but on it Monday so happy days. Here is to a happy new year 🎉 good luck bud all the best
Hoddy not Jiffy.
😆😆😆😆
Well 2 weeks later we have walked the walk and it felt good. Pulled the insulation around the frames over 2 mm one side and 2 yeh its 4 mm over all but getting it sung as a bug around the ties and tray for electric box is impossible and the way they want the back of the block work pointing has just killed it. New start tomorrow, good load out and when the weather picks up ££££ to be ernt. Let's have it!!!!
It's hard on there bud ain't it. You try your hardest but the want a rolls Royce for the price of a escort
Things have to work both ways don't they, then you don't mind that little extra. Good luck on finding another site... Gazza
Sorted mate. Monday can't come quick enough
@@trickybrickys awesome the bills still need paying I think some company's don't give a shit about that part..
I have worked for DWH for about 13 years and done well with them. Laying bricks.
Good man u crack on
Every company has one or two but polishers. Then , jump forward in time and the pricks they were so proud to defend screws them also...God is good..😜
@@conordorrian1652 what is it your trying to say ?
Quiet simple, either you have principles or not. When you hear of decent trades people leaving or sacked off a job and then some muppet backing up the Co. Very simple. Don't take it personally, your obviously happy the way you operate. I've been in the game 40 years, seen it All, met them All.......
First of all I am not a muppet and I have always done well with all of the companies I have worked with. I have been bricklaying more than 40 years. I take pride in my work and I earn a good wage. For one tradesman to call another tradesman a muppet when they don't even know them there's not so much about their attitude. I was not having a go at the workmanship the tricky Bricky have done so maybe be you need to wind your neck in.
spot on mate
Thankyou Scott 💪🧱🧱🧱😁
Alright mate jesus christ that happened to us to many times,do David Wilson give you the price direct?
Nah mate. We went through a subby. A good fair one too. The agent was a nightmare. I felt like giving him.my trowel and saying you give it a bash lol
@@trickybrickys
Very political ain't it, when you get jealous wankers who no u earn more than them and they don't like it, try to make our lives hard work.
Plus with all them trays what the fuck, specially if people bare them over the whole block it weakens the house,
Plus a lot of subbys won't pay for trays so I won't have that
How much a thou you getting on site up north?
No idea I'm from the south
@@trickybrickys apologies mate, I’m from Southampton, so everywhere is north for me 😂 You will make more doing privates than site work and get more satisfaction

Pointing the inside of the cavity is a bit much, how will they manage to point the inside of the outer skin.
Have you found something else to go to
Yes mate 30 mins after leaving
Good stuff, can’t keep a good man down
They can try as you will see in tonights episode 😆😆

I've was a ex porn star . Only one video lol 45 seconds long
Need to be ex tradesman that way everyone knows what’s what
hffp1 yeah I know what your saying it is frustrating when you have young lads running jobs with no hands on experience, I tend to work for private sites the quality of work and running of jobs is so much better
hffp1 that’s spot on that mate was saying this other day the foreman needs to gain respect and a lot of the time if they show you respect the get it back not like these jumped up egotistical young men, yeah house bashing haha some awful building going on! Good job we have the tricky brickies
I just want to build a nice house to proper way . End of the day. We need a brickie union run by bricklayers
how did you get on with being paid your last valuation for the work completed after you left? I bet they made out that work had to be altered and they knocked money off your last payment?
Wasn't owed anything. Mate. 😁😉
Is the site agent called Jamie ?
You dont make any money if the site agent doesn’t want you too.
Been there mate! What was the rates??
600 and 16

don't blame you for walking mate, people come up with all these extra's but don't want to pay for them. on the prices we get atm should be earning between £200-£250 avr a day
Yes mate and rightfully so. We struggled to make daywork there. 4 joist lifts no money in them 1700 for them 8 lintels external 3 internal plus isolation (cut coarse) taped buttons and arches. 🤷♂️🤷♂️think we got 140 a day on them. Our hoddie was the best earner for weeks
No offence mate but £200-£250 a day on price is day work money I wouldn’t get out of bed on price for less than £300 a day
What prices you getting
That weren’t to you Adam mate your a top trowel just had a run of bad luck but I’m sure your be back slashing the pic n dip next week bruva
Mate I'm the same. Even on 600s and 16 we struggled. The isolation and the 5 coarse high rule killed it. Extra tray everywhere. Even the tray they want on the joist floor. Which is pointless made it hard. Give me a box 📦 with normal bricks any day. We had semi engineering bricks. Soaking wet. 3/4 every window. Saw cut only. Nightmare mate lol
Yeah we will be back printing cash next week 💰💰🧱🧱🧱🧱🧱💪😉🤣
