Hi Ira! I am 74 yrs old and have been diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease since age 19. I’m currently taking Humira . I’ve had a great life including going to college, getting married, having a daughter, taught elementary school in St. Paul, Minnesota, traveled worldwide, I’m a grandmother, have supportive family and friends, and have a trusted gastroenterologist. I m telling you this to let you know that there are many ups and downs with this chronic disease but you can still have a wonderful life. Just remember to take good care of yourself first which is hard to do in life. Be strong, it sounds like you are using great resources.

@@Mr_Wanderlust1 I hope and pray Humira works for you too. Other medications are available too. Some people have to try a few different medications to find the one that works for them. You can do it!

Hi I'm on week 5 of humira Tommorow. I've had a flare up yesterday. Does that mean humira isn't working for me I appreciate ur not a doctor. What week did it work for u. I've read it can take between 2 and 12 weeks. Does that mean still a chance I can see results as on week 5. Many thanks look fwd to ur reply.

Congratulations on having a baby! I also was on humira and am now on amjevita. Right now it is working for me and I feel good. I know its not a GOOD thing but it makes me happy to see people who have gone through Crohns similar to what I have gone through

Thank you for the update!!! I start Wednesday and I’m super nervous!!! But I need to do something. My flares aren’t going away. Been living off of prednisone tapers and really want my normal life back. I have psoriatic arthritis based off physical signs since blood work normal but Sed rate and CRP. I’m getting lab work done for thyroid panel to include TPO antibodies. Praying for healthier days and pain free days.

Congratulations on your little one!! I’ve been taking Stelara as of last November (so far so good) after my first flare up back in October. I’m very curious to know a few things:
    1. Did you have to continue taking your biologic medication while you were pregnant? Or did you opt to stop taking it for the full duration?
    2. Did you have any morning sickness that might’ve triggered your Crohn’s?
    3. Have you been noticing any related GI issues within your baby or has everything been smooth sailing?
    4. What was your birthing process like?
    5. What are your thoughts on breastfeeding/pumping while on biologics? Or how is your experience going so far?
I look forward to hearing more about your journey!! Best of luck with everything to you and your beautiful family❤

I’ve subscribed! You will probably hear lots of personal stories about the down side if Crohn’s. I thought you might like to hear something more positive. I know that Humira’s patent had expired and that other bio similars would be coming soon. I’ll be discussing Amjevita with my doctor.
