- Adding sole protectors to your shoes is one of the best and most affordable ways to keep your shoes in great shape. Adding red rubber sole protectors to Christian Louboutin's is one of the most requested things we do at our shop.
In this video, we take you behind the scenes to watch how these sole protectors are applied. Yes, there are a lot of types of rubber sole protectors out on the market, but these Italian-made ones we use are some of the best.

I don’t even wear heels but every time he says “the lady’s” in that accent I go
Yes is me, I’m the lady’s
GAHAHHAA YES
XD
Ladies* . Grammar, people!

Yes!
I clicked because of curiosity, I stayed because of his accent.
Vanessa Baldwin Haha...thanks! Glad you stayed and watched.
He's quite the hottie!
Right! The accent makes you swoon! 😍
I did the same thing. I need to bring mine there and have him talk me through process.
LOLs it’s just southern...
Why can't Christian Loubutins have built in sole protection. For the price you pay they shouldn't be so delicate..
Less durability, more frequent buying.
Their primary market are women who have a lot of shoes and dont wear a single pair on a daily basis. They're primarily for women with an excess of money.
I agree. For that price they should be better made.
That's the point of them, they're a statement that the person wearing them has the money to replace them often.
@@laurinedelamater does not impress me....
So glad RUclips recommended this to me. Just in case I get some red bottoms 😂
We appreciate you watching!
I’m honestly considering a pair for my wedding 😂
@@TrentonHeath what are the best protectors to use on brand new louboutins , do they have to be clear or can they be these red italian soles covering the actual louboutin red soles? wont they destroy the paint underneath when i come to pull them off?
@@TrentonHeathwhere are you all located I have a couple of pairs that I desperately need to repair
Wow, I could never afford Louboutin's shoes, but I was just amazed by your fine craftsmanship.
The "after" looks amazing 👌.
Sophie Acapella Thank you!
Would like to see more videos on the care of women's shoes
I agree 100%. (Says the guy whose wife thinks a shoe tree grows in the rain forest)
Or leather purses!!
G S Yes!!! Leather bags for men and women are so expensive! Would love to see more restoration for other leather goods.
I’ve done a fair amount of the Louboutins and even after explaining exactly what I need to do, I’ve had countless women saying I’ve destroyed their shoes. They don’t understand that to repair is not making them look brand new - it’s a repair to my best ability
Definitely a beautiful result with the gloss soles
I'd be nervous working on those, those ladies are particularl about their pricey shoes.
Shed the nerves, still just repairing a shoe after all
40lilgemz 🌸 there’s just no pleasing some people 😒
If they don’t like the repair method, then they should walk lol 😂
Like you said a repair is a repair, it’s not creating old to new. That’s impossible 😳
Sunita Fisher yeah in their holey shoes lol
It’s funny how cobblers walls and the UK look exactly like this one! They still use those holed boards AND the glue pot covered in glue, that I remember as a child, over 40 years ago! They’ve remained traditional to their art and trade, lovely to see. Great job on the shoes 👍🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
It's pretty much a standard workshop look for most crafts.
More ladies shoes please! Also more cowboy boots would be great.
Thanks for filming while you're actually working. It's great content.
why did I click on this? I cannot afford one.
May God bless you to have many 😊
@@aramishsharif1878 thank you I need this blessing
Well,I can’t afford two shoes. But, Heath is cute so?

LOL! I saw several references to the gent’s accent and I was like, what accent LOL? Ahhh...he’s in TN and I’m in GA (dad’s from Knoxville). Same thing LOL.
His work is awesome and he’s very knowledgeable. My granny used to have taps placed on the toe and heel of our Sunday shoes. I didn’t undrr understand why back then. I can appreciate her doing so more. I haven’t taken my shoes in to a cobbler in ages. If I had some Louboutins, I’d definitely do this thanks for the insight.
I love how completely different the comments are on this video than any of the others! Hi Ladies!

During COVID I’m just binge watching your videos. Better than Netflixs! Studs!
Would've been interesting to see how you trimmed that protector.
I seriously just sent you an email on getting a few pairs done. This is so much classier than I've seen anywhere. Great job.
This it way I love watching you gentlemen. The practiced hand. Guys boots or ladies shoes, it makes no difference. The amount of care you guys have is always enjoyable to watch. I’ve never cobbled in my life but I know a little about how difficult this job could be with cutting and sanding so close to a unforgiving material like that suede.
Wow, just saw one of your sweet shows. I could actually smell the leather!! I spent many hours in an old boot shop in Abilene Texas. In the polio area of 1948 thru 1956, having shoes made first onto a brace then later making the shoe adapt onto the brace. Later I was fourtionate enough to have 4 pair if M.L.Leddy in Midland and San Angelo Texas. I'm 80 now and truly due to good shoes I'm still walking, even with the help of a walker, I walk.
Thank you for your lovely shows.

Seeing restored shoes its amazing
Watching those red bottoms get sanded was so painful
My face immediately said 😬😬😬😬😬
What do you think happens when you walk on them? Some people don't have the luxury of sitting with our feet up looking at the bottom of our shoes. SMH
@@countrygirl4422 and some people do
That’s why I don’t get my new shoes soled. If someone’s going to scuff them up, then I want to be that person. Save the resoling for when the shoes gets more worn. Otherwise it’s like those old people who put plastic covers on their new furniture.
I have no idea why RUclips recommend this vid but I'm happy it did, this is weirdly facinating.
The color match is good it 1 or 2 shades off but you can't tell the sole have been replaced
CL has the trademark for the specific shade of red which likely why they don’t match exactly.
red nail polish with a holo taco.
Me, wearing holo taco when I read this comment: A HOLOSEXUAL
Ah a fellow holosexual 😀
Ah it’s nice to see some more holosexuals

Wished there was the trimming part. I’d say that’s where the skill is. Otherwise, you’re basically saying magic happened 😀

This is a twofer--love watching him work & love watching him...periodt! I'd get my shoes repaired all the time at his shop!!!🤗
The only thing that would bother me a little bit is that the reds don't match perfectly.
Air spraying method matches better
I think the original is slightly darker and a more orange-red, but otherwise it looks really good.
@@randomcommenter7343 the whole point of these shoes is the red sole and people that know fashion really know the shade of these iconic shoes and would notice the difference. So even though it looks like a small thing it's not.
Jessica if they know fashion thin they will understand an think its smart to protect ur shoe
You would look at it like adding an accessory to ur item know different thin when you buy an I phone an put a case on it!
No idea how my RUclips recommends (which have been a hot mess lately) brought me here but this guy is so cute. Oh, and the shoes were nice too.
Definitely need to get this done to all my wife’s louboutin’s she runs through her shoes and doesn’t wear them after the red has been scraped up I always take them in just to get re painted by the shoe keeper that they had recommended us at the louboutin in south coast plaza . So glad I clicked on this
I'm so obsessed with this channel, I been binge watching their videos and I don't wear nor own shoes like the ones feature in their videos😁. I just like what I see 😉☺️

This guy is so attractive, I don't even care about the shoes. 😅😍
Haha...thank you!
Agreee 😍😍
I would not trust my Louboutin to just any cobbler. I bought them pre-loved and saved for a year to get me a pair. I treasure them with all my being lol. I never drive with them, i use an old pair of shoes to drive and i change when i get to the office. I think i have been getting more paranoid since i bough them ;-). Great Job. Love your channel. I am definitively taking better care of my shoes and doing my homework when buying shoes so they better fit my lifestyle: casual versus work versus outdoors etc.
Even for shoes that are a couple of thousand dollars, we throw them away when they are no longer brand new. I love how you breathe new life into your shoe repairs. It is so difficult to find craftsmen that want to restore shoes. Putting on a new heel on a shoe, no problem but the shoemakers I have gone to always tell me that it is cheaper to go and buy a new pair. That’s not the point. I fall in love with some of my shoes and I want to hang onto them as long as I can. My shoes may only cost a couple of hundred dollars but I am willing to pay to have them restored when they are my faves! Thanks for the video.
This video should have a “ FOR CL SHOES USERS ONLY”, because some people confused it with a place to hate because of their own money issues. Calling us “idiots”, and more names, just because we buy and love this type of shoes, is more foolish, than expecting a higher end item to last you forever, and thinking that luxury is only about quality... This video is very helpful to protect the classic ones.
Fantastic job , they look like the original soles. I’m gonna get my new Loubi sandals done before I wear them . Thank you
I never realised LV shoes made a lower heel 👠 much better than the ankle breakers. Your amazing BTW. I love shoes boots slippers flip flops and it goes on an on an on lol. I'm binge watching your channel atm cos I've only just found you love it. Much love from the UK xx
I’m glad I’m not the only one who puts the shoes side to side to match up the lines! 😅
Very nice work man
I love these videos; they're so relaxing. Like Bob Ross but with shoes.
Happy little shoes
I may never be able to afford these in my lifetime.... But at least I know how to protect them and save those soles! 💁🏼♀️
I'm basically bingeing your videos in bed every night since I found your channel, it's so soothing 😂 Love how these Loubs look! The scuffed look you get after a couple of wears is such a peeve of mine considering their price tag makes my eyes water 😬 Another beaut job Heath 👌
Thanks, Rachael! Glad you’re enjoying the videos. We really appreciate you watching.
These shoes once worn, will never be like new. As of right now, without a whole sole transplant, you will not get much better then this. As for the color variation not much the cobbler can do when the best products he got aren't good enough. Fantastic Job. Yes you can color match paint the bottoms but paint will come off fast.
I like that glue, it’s very gluey.
Gluey glue for chewy chewing? That's what the glue goose is doing. #foxinsocks
Do you know the name of the glue?
OMG you guys are near me! I'm buying a second pair in a few months and bringing both to you!
I would have the time of my life, cleaning the glue pot!
Me too
Showed up in my reccomended wow, thank you!!! My shoe guy has these unflattering replacement soles but buying these and bringing em in. Great video yay! I have 2 pairs and rarely wear em because of scuffing the bottom, but happy there is a fix for this! Thanks from NYC !
Do you mind sharing who your shoe guy is?
Wow!!! Spectacular finished product!!!
.. lol yes straight from Dept store to my shoe maker .. not just red bottoms but all my high end shoes to protect my bottoms .. .. ty for sharing 🙏🏽🙏🏽😄
When my soles get like this I’ll be sending my shoes to you. 💕
Why not mask off the suede? I ask because don't you run the risk of glue pressing out when you press them? Just a question.
He is putting a thin coat I dont think its gonna press out any residue
The glue has actually dried and is reactivated with heat before sticking. It won't get on things like wet glue will.
Trenton & Heath could you please explain a bit more about this glue?
Trenton & Heath thank you clearing that up for me. I appreciate it. I wish you guys continued success.
@@gurgelplus it's rubber cement glue. When it dries, only when two rubber cement touching each other will stick (and will be super stick, impossible to take apart). running your fingers or suede and other things on it won't stick anyway.
I don't have red bottom shoes (only have cowgirl boots or flip flops here) but glad to see he is teaching everyone!
I wish the color matched better. The replacement is clearly more magenta. I bet that's because of trademark, but that's lame. Louboutin should license replacements; and license them readily with renowned shops like Trenton & Heath.
verdatum true but then they wouldn’t make as much money when people just purchase sole replacements as supposed to a new shoe. Also it’s too much of a liability. If they were to license a sole, they can’t guarantee whoever repairs and the shoe will always do a superb job and customers could always blame Christian louboutin for making a “defective shoe” in order to try and get a free shoe
I may be wrong, but I think I recall CL taking another company to court over red soles and the case getting dismissed because a color can't be claimed. I'm too tired to look it up. The color is fairly close in person, but I think the camera throws it off a bit.
Trenton & Heath the suit got dismissed because the shoe *and* the soles were red, so the judge deemed it different enough. If the same company (a huge French fashion brand, don’t remember which) had done the red soles with black shoes they’d been in trouble.
It's meant to come off. Underneath it is leather, the actual sole. They aren't meant to be replaced when the sole shows wear. CL works with authorized cobblers that have their exact color.
@Winyl yes, that's it! Funnily enough, I watched a video on that subject the same day I wrote my original comment, but completely forgot who the designer was.
I bet those shoes are easier to walk in now, less slippery.
Nice repair! Once was at a club/bar in Dallas, and the singer that they had booked that night was wearing Christian Louboutin light beige suede heels. After she was done singing, she went and sat next to some friends, when a random drunk man (sitting next to her) sort of toppled over and spilled red wine all over her suede Louboutin's. She was livid to say the least.
Oof the company who makes those soles is missing a great opportunity to match that candy red shade
Yea you should probably never let someone do this to your shoes. Get them done by an offical CL repair shop. Also it's not just lady's they make mens shoes...
@@anthonymontgomery3546 That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. I'll bet you're the guy that brings their MacBook to the Apple store and gets bent over instead of having a independent repair shop do it. "An authorized CL repair shop." Riiiight. Just so you know, there is no such thing. They have recommendations, but clearly say their not "authorized repair facilities." 3 in the US (2 in NY and 1 in Cali) and 1 in Canada. You wear the shoes twice and the red is gone. This is far better than the alternative.
@@xenonram your wasting your money if you have someone like this do this to your shoe. If you cant afford to have it done right, dont buy the shoe. Save your money and go buy your shoes at payless.
@@anthonymontgomery3546 lmao don't even try to tell other people how to spend their money. not everybody is as posh or snooty as you
@@jennyneedsmeds not snooty just dont see the point of spending that much money on a shoe for the red sole just to mismatch it with a cheap replacement color. Buy a diffrent nice brand that you wont worry about ruining the red.
who even wears their Louboutins like that? id feel to bad to even wear them... or wait id feel too bad to even buy em 😆
Anybody from England remember "Stick a soles"? They were popular in the 60s for our "best" high heels, to make the soles last longer. The more things change, the more they stay the same..........
Your passion is inspiring.
Thank you!
Hi Trenton and Heath ! I've been following your channel for a couple times and I have suggestions, can you make more videos about ladies shoes, how to recognize good and poor quality, please. Thank you.. you're guys doing great job
I love a Southern drawl. Shoes look ace too 👠xx
Will probably never own a pair of these shoes, but amazing video !
WOW!!! THOSE LOOK NEW!!!!
Very useful. Watching from the Philippines 👍
4:54 cracked me up!! You know your craft Heath!
Ok I reached the last video. I'm officially hooked with you guys (more with Heath tbh 🤣 ) and it's about time to be subscribed! Keep up your amazing channel!!! Too bad I live soooo far away, but I'm considering buy from your store online as soon as I'll be able to. I assume shipping to Greece it's a lot, so I may have to wait until I have the budget for a big order so as to pay shipping once. I'd appreciate if you make a video of how to identify different kinds of leathers and how to treat them. Also I noticed there's not a video of mainstream Timberland boots. Would love to see a restoration of those as well. Anyway, thank you so much for the hours I spent on your videos ☺️
👍Exactly! I have several pairs of Christian Louboutins and I kinda wish the shoe designer would just go ahead and make the shoes with that rubber sole and paint the rest of the bottom of the shoe because all of us who own these shoes end up having this done any way which adds another expense plus the inconvenience of having to take them to a shoe cobbler. I find that the shoes are actually slippery with the first couple of wears.
🌸 the end result looks amazing 👍🏼
Perfect actually 💕💗💖✨
Definite craftsman! 👠
Thank you, Octavia!
Why don’t they just put those on to begin with? Or reinforce the shoe before sale?
because they want people to buy more. Chances are that rich people just buy another one when the soles go bad.
For those you are supposed to wear them and when the red faded totally under the shoe go back and then having the protective layer, who should based on how and where the red faded so you have an even base, based on your walk type. (This is kinda shitty but english isnt my native language so i dont know if im clear)
Faby07aleixo good point but it’s funny because rich people, that 1% usually get those darn shoes for free anyways. So the ones who really buy those are those that worry about that sole wearing down.
Vix Hime you totally lost me but I give you an E for Effort 😊
why does the brand that is about conspicuous consumption of a fleeting luxury product not make them less fleeting? I DUNNO FOLKS

Lockdown here in the U.K. has done funny things to me, do I own a pair of Louboutins? No. Am I a woman? No. Do I need any cobbler services? Nope, not at the moment. Why am I here? No idea but listening to a craftsman calmly talk his way through his work is satisfying 😀 Proper 😀

Your skill working with those elegant Christian Louboutin shoes is awesome! I especially like that you treat the shoes with the care they deserve. The owner of those beautiful shoes will be thrilled about how gorgeous they now look!
Gretchen LP Thank you for the kind words!
I own 10 pair... do all of mine! But i did take a patent pair and I'm picking them up in 2 days. They were preowned and she put a cheap 3m sticker that completely took the red off. If you spend top dollar, go to a cobbler for repair and preventative maitenance
I’d love more of the technical explanations also. Why you do what you do. 😊

That's beautiful. I wish I could justify buying a pair just so you could fix. 'em up! LOL.
You did a wonderful job.
I have tried to do this with a pair of my so Kates, and pretty much I think it was the rubber and glues fault, I cut the rubber to size first, leaving a bit of wiggle room, but the sides didn't stick, I used shoe glue, then tried using super glue for the edges... luckily I used painters tape on edge of leather to prevent the P. leather from messing up, so I have once again put them back in the box... but I just need some help for the next attempt, or even the next pair...
at 3:50 what grit sand paper do you use?
at 4:40 what shoe glue do you use?
at 8:01 how tightly did you pull the rubber?
and then how did you trim them!!
His accent is lovely😍
Hello and thanks for the video, which glue are you using, Im always putting sole protectors to my shoes but in couple of months the protector starts to take off in the tip. Do you have some recommendation, best regards from Prague :)
I totally just blew at my phone's screen to blow the dust off of the shoe after he sanded it!😂💯🥳🤦♀️
How much would you say it costs to get the sole protectors? Just got a pair (a very generous gift from a friend) and I want to preserve them as best I can but knowing there’s a solution if/when they actually get used enough to show wear brings me great comfort haha
