    I’m done ever trying to buy Hondas. Their dealer experience is by far the worst. Obviously there are good and bad dealers everywhere but I’ve yet to find a good one around me. Buying our Odyssey was a nightmare. They give a price quote via email and over the phone saying the vehicle was on the lot, then show up and the van isn’t there and there’s a markup they claim “Honda makes them charge everybody.”
    Trying to buy a civic si a few years ago, I told another dealer I would not pay over msrp and their response was “why should we sell one to you at msrp if you could turn around and sell it for more.” I had no intention of flipping the car and how is that a good sales tactic?

    We recently shopped our local Honda dealer here in central FL. There were NO price cuts and they also had addendum stickers with up to $4,000 in add on's(yes, they are still trying to charge for nitrogen in tires here in FL). We looked at a HRV, no movement on their sticker price. Went to Buick and bought a Envista Avenir trim. Much smoother ride, more upscale interior, thousands of $$ less, and got under invoice price with NO add's. The engine is tiny but for a around town car for the wife with a hatchback it is a excellent vehicle. So, Honda still thinks they can over charge just for the Honda name. I think they are in big trouble with that attitude.

  • @chuck5558
    @chuck5558 19 часов назад +5

    The automakers are having problems because they are building high tech, unreliable cars and charging too much for them. They have been forced into this by stronger government emissions and fuel economy regulations along with the need to still make a profit to stay in business. Forced to use higher technologies like CVT transmissions, complex multi speed transmissions, thinner lubricating oils, low resistance piston rings, , direct injection, complex electronics and low displacement turbocharged engines, the cars won't last as long and will be more expensive to maintain and repair. Those technologies can be made to be reliable and have longer lives but they would cost more than the consumer will or can pay. Forcing the world to electric vehicles, our reliable automobiles are being taken from us.

  • @ROBSOLUTELY
    @ROBSOLUTELY 22 часа назад +13

    Car prices have surged higher than almost any other product, and considering the overall inflation over the past four years, this is one of the primary reasons why new cars aren't selling well. Another significant factor is the decline in the production of affordable and reliable models by car manufacturers. A Civic, for instance, should ideally start at under $20K, with more feature-rich models naturally costing more. A fully loaded Civic should not exceed $29K. Additionally, high-interest rates have contributed to the current market conditions. Car manufacturers must also acknowledge that electric vehicles have gained popularity, but all-electric vehicles are not universally practical for most consumers. The charging time is often excessive, and their driving range falls short of most people's needs. While daily commuting in an electric vehicle may be suitable, long-distance travel, visiting family and friends, taking vacations, or shopping trips become impractical due to the time-consuming charging process.

      Banks are also pulling away from car loans. The economy is not doing well, and they know the first loans people will default on are car loans. Banks that were heavily leveraged in car loans a year ago have pulled out. Consumers who still want to buy a car right now can't.

    Hondas problem is their dealer network. And Honda NA leaning into the price gouging and add ons that dealers force onto their customers, and positioned their brand pricing in locl step with the dealer markups. You can see this perfectly as you move up the Civic trim level, from base, to Hybrid, to Si, then to the Integra, back to the Civic Type-R, and then Integra Type-S. Feature segmentation and dealer markups go hand in hand with the MSRP adjustments. That's no accident. That's collusion.
    So, sorry, cry me a river that Honda and their crooked dealer network are taking it deep in the pockets.
    I literally had a Honda dealer tell me that they would NEVER reduce the dealer markup because "We sell Hondas, if you don't want it, someone else who does, will." The hubris is off the charts.
    Let them die on the vine, replete with inventory. Not a single consumer tear will be shed.

    Last year I had to sell my car due to mechanical issues was able to get it repaired fully by dealer but decided it wasn’t worth the hassle anymore so I opted to find a new car. My first choice was a Honda Passport as I now had a family and needed more space than a sedan. My first car was a CRV and I loved it but no way was I going for a CVT. The dealer would not budge lower than $450 plus a hefty down payment for a 4 year old passport at 72 months financing and before any markups that they would not waive. The next was a RAV4 lease or used RAV4 adventure but every dealer had shady marketing and practices that would bump the price to nearly double what they were advertising or listed. They were also a nightmare to deal with. I ended up going with a Hyundai Tucson lease which beat the other ones at $450 a month w/ 15k miles a year with less down payment and the dealer experience was honestly a breeze i spent more time test driving different trims than negotiating which in hindsight i probably still could have negotiated leven less if i had more time on hand.
    I had a tougher time going through my insurance than the dealer and they treated us well. No reason for Honda to be charging so much especially after they had to recall millions of vehicles in the US alone. Shame because I love Honda and will always look fondly back at my CRV I would still be driving it today if it hadn’t gotten totaled years ago.
    Here’s hoping by the time the New Hybrid powertrain for the Pilot comes around their pricing and practices will improve

    Not exactly sure where this information comes from but Hondas are selling very well. And there’s talk of something going on with Honda and Nissan either merging or taking over Nissan. Honda makes pretty good vehicles and most consumers are pretty satisfied when purchasing a product. Most complaints a pretty much simple to resolve and are basically covered under warranty. Best bet to travel coast to coast for many years is in a Honda vehicle. Even ‘used’ Hondas are selling pretty well too. And the insurance cost of a Honda is reasonable too.

    Due to the low quality of a vehicles today with many plastic parts and glued engine components people are just not trusting the quality anymore and they will need bumper to bumper warranties that actually mean something not the 60k 3 year crap. That needs to be doubled right up front. Honestly I think we’re moving to a point where car manufacturers will be providing transportation solutions instead of selling individual cars that have become expensive. I.e. provide a monthly fee to have a car kind of like a lease that’s affordable and you can exchange your car every two or three years for a new model. Or using AI technology have driverless cars come pick you up whenever you need to go somewhere.

My last new Toyota was problematic garbage also, so I guess that is the state of the industry these days for the most part. I almost bought a new 2025 Honda Odyssey a few weeks ago as my 14 year old Odyssey was on the fritz. Despite the sales and tons of inventory, a top tier trim level Elite was still more expensive than a fully loaded Kia Carnival SX Prestige. I ended up with a new Kia because Honda technology and design is still stuck in 2017 compared to it's competitors. Plus my experience with my Honda Odyssey was full of expensive maintenance and repairs since the warranty expires so early.

    • @riseabove3082
      @riseabove3082 16 часов назад

      I wouldn't touch a Hyundai/Kia due to all of their engine issues: eating engine oil due to failing piston rings, engine fires, engine blow-ups due to rod metal fatigue, high pressure valves failing. Yah no thanks.

    • @Mr-Chris
      @Mr-Chris 15 часов назад

      @riseabove3082 that's exactly what i thought too. Also all the news about them being easily stolen too. However when I researched the issue Kia and Hyundai engine issues are on their 4 cylinder GDI only engines. Meanwhile the Kia Carnival has a multiport V6 and has a good track record of reliability. And Kia 2021 and up have immobilizer making them difficult to steal. Considering that my Honda odyssey had lots of engine and suspension issues that was all out of warranty costing me lots of money, when compared to Kia and long powertrain warranty, it was hard for me to choose another Honda.

    It’s funny that you mention the risk of depreciation! That is such a joke that you would even say that! As the thousands of people that were either affected by hail, fire, tornado, or just a car accident or just a plain ole accident, how much the value of their car did the insurance company actually value it at or pay them out because they totaled the vehicle! I can guarantee you 100% that the risk of depreciation the minute we drive it off. The lot is 1000%. It will never be worth what the dealership had it sitting on there a lot!!!! so what’s don’t falsely advertise that we should be aware of what the depreciation of a vehicle is because I think the consumer already knows and yes, you’re correct. We should be worried about that because then that means the dealership gets to sit with those vehicles, not us as the consumer!

    Interest rates are Honda’s biggest problem. I bought a 24’ Civic back in March but was able to get $3.5k off msrp. When you look at the pricing of a 2005 Hybrid Civic and consider inflation Honda’s pricing isn’t far off (maybe $200). Not every brand was like the domestics and raised prices 60-80%. Some actually aligned it with inflation

New head gasket, new turbo, new fuel injector kit. And I take excellent care of my car and change oil every 5,000 miles. Will NEVER by another one.
