In this clip we show how we made a bathtub tray in wood, a very easy diy project. We go through how you can easily produce this simple and stylish gadget for your bathroom. The bathtub tray is easy to build with a few tools and machines.
The bathroom is something we use every day and where the bathtub has a central part. But that it may not be used in the best way. Treating yourself to a warm relaxing bath can do wonders for your entire body.
Here we show how to make a shelf that can be placed on the edge of the bathtub. The main purpose of this is from the beginning to be able to sit down in the bathtub and shower. So we wanted to make a nicer variant of seat in combination with bathtub caddy.
Either you can sit down when you shower or you can use the shelf as a storage area, decorate it with candles for long baths. Or you put a laptop on the shelf and watch a movie while taking a relaxing long bath.
Step 1. First, the width of the bathtub inside and outside was measured so that the shelf would fit perfectly. The bathtub tray is as wide as the outer width of the bathtub.
Step 2. A rule was marked and sawn to the correct length.
Step 3. The end of the shelf is milled down so that the shelf cannot slide off the bathtub edge.
Step 4. The edges were rounded and milled down, then sanded all surfaces from p40 to p120 sandpaper.
Step 5. The shelf was painted with two thin layers of hard wax oil that were allowed to dry for 24 hours before it could be used.

Tools: Hand router, grinder, joint saw, angle hook, carpenter's pen, brush.
