Mmmmmmm. I can taste it through the screen. Just picked up 10 lbs of fresh cut cow foot…. Just washed it, added some spices and home made green paste. Letting it sit overnight in fridge before I start cooking. Bringing a put half of it to a friends’ Sunday - they are carribean and get a huge kick that this Jewish boy from Pennsylvania can nail it.
God bless the internet- and magnificent food!

Just finished making this with 2 pounds of Cow Foot pretty much following this and adding in some Green Bananas, Eddoes with the Okra vs the White Potatoes. Added some Cloves and Bay Leaf for added flavor. Its nice and thick soup. Took 30 Mins in my brand new 8 Qt Pressure Cooker to cook the Cow Foot, plus another 20 mins or so uncovered to cook the added vegetables at the end and boil down the soup a bit thicker. Its Good Stuff! Cow Foot can be a bit bland, so for sure helps to add allot of flavor to the soup pot. Came out better than I thought and eating it right now.

In the Netherlands we use Cow heel in our Split pea soup; a typically Dutch wintersoup here for our so cold weathers.
Thank you Chris for another great recipe with the cow heel but now , for me, as a SUNNY warmer seasons soup... Yummi, got to try this very soon...!

I just saw a version of this soup on Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern and googled it and found your video. Looks awesome, but I'm curious about these cow feet. Are there bones in there or is that cartilege that I saw? Also, do you season the cow feet at all before putting them in the pot? You didn't say so, but I thought that was pretty standard.

I'm Jamaican and I feel like I low key like this recipe better than the Jamaican one. The only thing I would probably do is season the meat before putting it in the pot, and maybe add a cock soup mix as he suggested at the end there.
