oh my gosh, you talking about the over-sexualisation of women for just existing, ESPECIALLY in streaming, really hit home for me. I was aware of how awful it must be for female streamers, but also really love playing games and goofing off with people, so I thought I would give streaming a go. I figured, I wouldn't have to worry about the over-sexualisation or harassment as I was only streaming to 4-5 people. I can still remember the feeling of my stomach dropping when a viewer who had tuned in for a couple of streams started sexualising me on stream and messaging me on instagram with dick pics. I dont know if they even realised how it would make me feel. If they thought is was a "compliment". But it made me feel so awful. I haven't streamed since.

I agree wholeheartedly on the point Jodi made of making mistakes and being allowed to grow from it, wonderfully said. But to be fair to the subject at hand in the video, Pokimane didn't grow from the cookie mistake, she never apologized for the offensive remark about people of limited means, and in actuality she doubled down on the subject. -- And before anyone jumps, I am not a hater, I number among those who have earnestly dubbed her a queen. But that does not stop me from being able to see both sides, especially as someone that grew up in a very poor family, able to climb all the way up to a six-figure salary as an adult.

But sometimes you dont realize how it was in the beginning people are still that person they gave you, their time and change to get you outta that. Top streamers lose base with that. Take accountability do your best to make it right and have people understand, move on.

imo streaming is way harder than most people make it out to be. You're basically giving the world a brief view into your world and the audience can go through whatever you say and do with a fine brush and will critique every little thing you do. It's actually insane what streamers put up with and especially women streamers. As a man (ew yucky tomatoe tomatoe) I can confidently say that a large majority of men are ill informed of what life is like for women on a day to day basis all cause men are creepy little a holes. Jodi you are awesome please keep being an inspiration for all women in the streamer space cause the world needs it.

I get that she is under a lot of pressure and that streaming is hard, while youre dealing with multiple opinions of other people, but i dont think its hard to say 'oh i fucked up this one, i'm sorry'. Calling people broke for example is not a great way of defending herself.

There's some great points for sure. Some men, especially in the streaming an gaming circles, have a bit of trouble with their emotional regulation. They have latent urges and bodily reactions that not necessarily normalized or socialized to keep in check. For example, Jodi has a boyfriend which she loves him dearly and they're mutually in love. Toxic Masculinity is that it's not that serious and that I have the urge that disregards that connection Jodi might as well. Toxic Masculinity teaches everything is a competition and if He's not around then the bond between you two isn't that strong. Some Toxic men will see John and still think they out class him in every department and don't care if he's around or not. The point is to educate men that boyfriend or not, if she's not interested or it's not mutual don't pursue it. Some men will take it as, if there's a boyfriend at all regardless if she's interested or not, the sanctity of his existence over the fact she's in a relationship. Ideally, the you two match on all fronts from moral and ethical values to mutual interest and desires. Some people are going to have their personal tendencies. If she's separated from her Husband and they been in decline for a long time, some men and women will still date each other due to the nuances of that situation since the process can take years to finalize. Some people won't even consider a divorcee for the same stigmas. Now this is all my own personal interactions not a universal truth. I find that women who say I have boyfriend, equally on a subconscious level put that value of guy over her own desires. Now it could be that she feels threaten and having a male figure to "protect" her saying no is "safer." It isn't but that's an internal bias. I find the most liberated of women are those who say "I'm not interested" or "Speak respectfully if you're trying to talk to me" etc. They recognize the hierarchy of personal interest. A guy might hear "I have a boyfriend" as "I would but I don't want my boyfriend to find out" which some people do speak in that manner. That's why a clear "No, I'm not interested" is top tier in my book. It's not insulting or saving anyone's ego and it's not guarantying your safety by saying "I have a boyfriend." If they guy is going to try something because you said no, he's not going to be deterred by " I have a boyfriend" and see it as a "but there's still a chance anyway." Now I'm must admit, I've been the sneaky link to a few women who were in relationships and even married. They've use "I have a husband/Boyfriend" to suggest keeping it low key and hook up with me in whenever they're out of town or going to work on X days. Whenever I'm rejected I say the same thing, "I understand. Your boyfriend doesn't matter in this case over your interest. You saying you're not interested is clear enough. Sorry if I made you feel uncomfortable anyway" and leave. If she's still down to hook up she's clarify then and if not you made sure to apologize for making her feel unsafe or giving unwanted attention. Clear communication especially out in the wild is always beneficial.

i get that some men are like terrible and absolutely toxic and do terrible things but its not all men and majority of men are compleatly fine and they are not rude or toxic its just the few that make all men look bad and it kinda bugs me that people hate on men as a whole and not just the bad ones
People are bad, personally, I don't care what your gender is, where you're from, what your skin color is, ETC. So on and so forth, I just assume whoever I'm interacting with is going to screw me over at some point and when they almost inevitably do I'm already prepared to take whatever action is necessary as to reduce the frustration, and then on the insanely rare occasion that they don't. Well, I've just found someone that might actually be worth interacting with a second time, In the context of streaming, this would basically be having a moderator who is prepared and has permission to Ban anyone who violates whatever rules you set out.
Unjustified negativity wears down on the mind so much that it's just not worth dealing with for the vast majority of people, and even for the few people who are capable of handling it, I would still advise minimizing it as best you can
