  • Montu is a highly regarded roller coaster amongst roller coaster enthusiasts all over the world! I first rode the ride in 2007 at the age of 11 and completely forgot how the ride experience was so in 2019 at the age of 23, I finally got to re-experience Montu! In this video, I explain my thoughts on the ride!!

    Kumba and Montu are two of the best B&Ms ever built, no question

    • @mrrayner8457
      @mrrayner8457 5 лет назад +6

      I'm yet to ride either, But next year when my wife and I do Disney and Sea World, I will be having a day to myself in Busch Gardens Tampa. At present, my favourite B&Ms are Nemesis at Alton Towers and Hulk at IoA, but seeing as the rest of the line out is Dragon Challenge Red at IoA, Oblivion and Galactica at Alton Towers they are bound to stand out.
      My body is ready for 6 new B&M credits, as well as my first 2 Premier Rides and possibly my first RMC if I don't get to Energylandia in Poland or Walibi Holland before October 2020.

      My B&M invert ranking... The top 4 are SUPER close... 1. Banshee, 2. Montu, 3. Afterburn, 4. Silver Bullet (only acceptable cobra roll on an invert), 5. Batman clones, 6. Talon, 7. Great Bear (yawn), 8. Raptor (cobra roll and brake run suck), 9. Alpengheist (cobra roll fucking sucks! plus the ending is weak)

    6:31 I grew up in Tampa and had season passes in the late 90s and early 00s, and I can vouch that the non-trimmed mid-course was amazing. When I rode it again in 2016 for the first time 10 years I was somewhat annoyed by how significantly it is trimmed at that spot. Regardless, Montu is still my favorite coaster without question.
    Also, for the first few years after the ride opened, there were LIVE GATORS in the pen just below track at 2:07 as you left the station. I believe they had to remove them in 1999 or 2000 when the gators outgrew the pen.

    I've ridden both Montu and Nemesis, and honestly, Montu is better. I think Nemesis is better themed and has a cooler location, being literally in the ground, but Montu overall has stronger elements and is a longer ride. Though that being said, Nemesis is equal to Montu in intensity right after the first corkscrew, as going through that helix after and into the zero - g is one of the best combinations of elements I've ever experienced. They are both great rides, but yes, I do agree with you that Montu is the best invert, since more or less when Nemesis ends, Montu is halfway done.

    me and one of my best friends had season passes to bush gardens when we were little. We went one day in the off season when the ride was not being heavily used and rides were short. We decided to challenge ourselves this one day and rode this thing 15 times in a row, Gwazi lion 7 times, and tiger 7 times, the log flume which I can not remember the name of to save my life like 5 times, and Sheikra 17 times in a row. This was one of the best days of my life and I can not chose my favorite at this park cause they were all such great rides. RIP Gwazi!

    This was my first real coaster. I’ve been to the park several time before but never went on any of the big coasters. Then I went here on a middle school orchestra trip and everybody went on Montu and my conductor told me to come with them. I was cursing the whole way up but when we went down the first drop all my fear of roller coasters went right out the window and I magically immediately understood why coasters are great and haven’t been fearful of anything since.

  • @hootowl2112

    The winch is there to secure a train to the brake platform while an evac is carried out. If there was something that caused the brakes to release during a situation where passengers might not be restrained properly,well...that would be bad. The run isn't perfectly flat, you see. It's angled downhill slightly so that even without a kick from the drive tires the train will roll into the drop and return to station. With that in mind BGT mandates any vehicle close to the edge of a drop be hooked up to a winch to keep it from budging even an inch.

    • @ElToroRyan
      @ElToroRyan  5 лет назад +2

      Ah okay I’m a little confused. Wouldn’t the winch have to be hooked to the back of the train to prevent it from rolling forward? Rather than in front of it

    • @phil.s.3362
      @phil.s.3362 4 года назад

      I don't know, but this Sounds wrong. The mid course brake run is angled on every coaster, because there are no Tires, chains or powered parts in general. The brakes can't open because the closed Position is the normal one. If something's wrong they will close.

  • @jeremyAyeH

    Idk what it is about B&M inverts, but something about the roar, the whippiness, and the impending intensity speaks to me in a way that no other rollercoaster can. They have such a staunch character. So far I still think Raptor or Alpengeist is my favorite, but one of these days I'll let Montu have it's way with me - and if it's better than them, I don't even know how to imagine it.

    I was in BG Tampa in 2000 and I enjoyed Montu much more than Raptor. The tunnels and ravines it goes in gives it that “WOW” effect. I love the color combo of it as well and Kumba also packed a good punch, a good coaster as well. These are the earlier B&M coasters which I think are better than the newer ones.

    Monti looks really great, sadly I will not get to BG Tampa in the foreseeable future. I love B&M Inverts and the layout on this looks bonkers.
    B&M tends to put MCBRs up really high, I guess so they don't have to trim that much. If a train ever has to stop due to the blocks, it will go through the rest of the layout faster afterwards. Especially important after an evacuation. Sometimes empty trains valley after being released from the MCBR after a full ride stoppage and evacuation.

I'm older, but I haven't been to any intense theme parks, but I guess I'll have to see if I've outgrown that fear. I look now, and I kind of feel like I've missed out on a lot. I went Orlando this summer and I loved velocicoaster and iron Gwazi, because they intense, fast, good airtime etc. but the ride that satisfied my need for a ruthless rollercoaster was Montu at the end of my day at Busch gardens ( stayed for short time because of idalia ) and i forgot how intense it was. The batwing was snappy especially since we were front row, me and my dad were the one’s getting dragged into the elements 😂 and every element was so compact and close to the terrain, so we could see it all happen in front of us

    I’ve ridden Montu plenty of times
    Love that B&M Invert it’s probably my favorite out of what I’ve ridden. Mako is probably the best coaster in Florida imo then the Hulk coaster

    I used to ride Montu with my grandpa every time I visited Busch Gardens with my grandparents. My grandpa passed away the day before Thanksgiving at the age of 81. Roblox did a perfect recreation of Montu so now every time I ride that one I think of my grandpa.

    Goliath at SFOG is by far the best hyper and its not even close. Glad to see this opinion.

    I used to work at Universal Studios, so I got free entry to Busch Gardens. I only ended up going one time, but I remember this ride very vividly. It was such a fun coaster. I was very pleasantly surprised. It's been 11 years since I've been but it is still one of my favorite coasters I've ever ridden on. It's intense, but manageable. I think for example Manta if I'm remembering correctly, over at Sea World.. That one was intense and incredibly painful. I thought it was insanely fun but there were times on the coaster I was questioning my insanity and like you said, what I was doing to my body hahahah. The ride picture we got from it was hysterical though.
    edit: also Mako at Sea World Orlando was nuts. They really stepped it up with those two.

    Amazing video Ryan. It doesn't look like the best in the park to me because I'm not a huge invert fan but it still looks like one of the best in Florida

    this is the main one i rode as a kid many times. i live an hr away in florida and had thought it was one the less intense one's just because it didn't have a scary looking first drop lol. growing up is so funny somtimes xD. every time i rode i had a blast and they took pictures of everyone that i still have

    I like Montu. The zero g roll gave a lot of airtime when I rode it today.
