How to make money 101, take a city and find ways to make it go bankrupt. Then you develop it ..

Just like the stock market, “buy low, sell high” ; when a bank owns an entire city

Unfortunate statement. While Detroit certainly has its problems those of us who live in the city feel that constant pity, trolling, and insults do nothing to fix the problems. The city IS coming back. We have a long way to go but the differences that I see everyday convinces me that the city can and is recovering. So. The downfall? Tragic. The future? Daunting but exciting. I have lived and worked in the city my entire life. The mayor is right. The recovery is real.

I admire your feelings and pride in your hometown. But I feel at some level the system broke down & everyone sold out. Detroit was the epitome of American manufacturing & production. Then we outsourced it to somewhere else. Even the guy in the video says Detroit was a “train wreck for 20 years”. So while U may not like the comment, u can’t deny there is truth to it. Good luck.

@@Grizbox I have never once said it isnt a trainwreck. It is worse than a train wreck. It was the perfect storm of every possible bad thing happening in business and society combined with horrible governance and the dawn of the thug culture. I never deny that we have enormous problems. The problem I have is that people who are either too self absorbed or predisposed to a single point of view either spew rhetoric out of deliberate ignorance or refuse to recognize the fact that a turn around is underway. What pisses off those who are involved in the turn around is that we have to listen to the, frankly offensive, comments of people who have never been anywhere near Detroit or left 50 years ago. This is not about loyalty. It is about accuracy. Lazy thinking and preconceived notions formed to fit political or racist rhetoric are not facts.

Let the haters keep hating! The Paris of America can't be stopped! The revitalization is outstanding. Detroit is the most amazing city in America secretly. The white racists wouldn't like you to know that. They want you to move to the suburbs where there is a cvs on every corner. Detroit is full of history, old and brand new.
