Yes, it is grammatically correct to say "He is an Italian"... though "He is Italian" is used much more. He is Italian .... refers to his nationality He is an Italian ... refers to him being a person from Italian. = He is an Italian person. (This is not used much.)
That is how you say the name of your country in English.... Turkey. When I say the name of my country in Spanish.... I cannot say New Zealand (in my language) as they probably wouldn't understand me. I would have to say its name in Spanish (which is Nueva Zelanda).
