✊🏾 I respect the acknowledgement of systemic oppression of black women… I encourage black women to be aware that black woman have an essential obligation to not misrepresent themselves considering the perceived misconceptions that causes discrimination. They should lead by example of their actions and behavior. Daytime TV in America like Maury and Jerry Springer exemplify poor examples.
African American Female Slave Descendants went through horrific atrocities and if you haven't PLEASE look up the Devils Punchbowl and read about what the Europeans did to over 20,000 freed Slaves and maybe you'll understand why they don't eat beautifully grown peaches....The hatred that European females had for the Slave Descendants back then continues today BUT they have to keep it hidden might make you cry....I'm 65 years old and I enjoy your music.....The rage in me for everything the African America Slave descendants had to endure will never leave my spirit or my soul because they live in me.....Have a wonderful day!
I could listen to her speak about this topic all day. She has a very interesting perspective about these things and she seems so well informed and logical.
I’d known of her music for a while but never paid much attention until “Black Rainbows” and that made me a fan of her as an artist. This video made me a fan of her as a *person.* Such great wisdom and analysis here. Massive respect.
Beautiful to see you doing what so many black and brown artists forget to do, or choose not to, which is showing that the past is the key to the present. Erasure of a people’s past is a perverse act, but I’m over joyed to see you actively fighting against that practice! Keep being great sis ✌🏾❤️

She's come a long way from R&B Ditties. Good for her! Erasure is a massive track!
