You have to use the shotgun just after he moves his arm back and prepares to hit you with the iron bar, it's tricky but he should always be pushed back if you do it.
Yeah it's tough in the sense that even after his health bar disappears you have to keep fighting him, I found that the shotgun works really well to stop him and then the sub-machine gun is great to hit him in the head and finish the battle. He hit me once but overall the battle went well.
I like how Leon is definitely an unreliable narrator and that you can argue that he exaggerates events to make both girls look better (showing the deep respect he has for both Ada and Claire) and at the same time plays up his own coolness/attraction the girls actually had to him.
1:40 Isn't that a little strange how a professional spy/agent simply tells her name to some unknown guys in a mission? No alias or codename? Well, if Ada is her real name at all...

You make a good point about revealing her name to strangers but then again this takes place in RE2. Leon at this point is just a rookie cop and Claire is an ordinary civilian (though Chris probably taught her how to use firearms which is why she's so good at using them). Ada probably assumed they wouldn't survive because they simply aren't trained to deal in a situation like this. They were more lucky to get out than anything else.

For me, this is so far the chapter with the hardest to beat big boss! I spent the whole day yesterday beating this chapter. I used a fully upgraded handgun most of the time with the help of magnum! I myself wonder how i passed the S-rank! LOL!

And the only two members to stay loyal to her were Four-Eyes and Ghost while Vector and the other members remained loyal to Umbrella which results in the squad breaking apart and then Jeanne, Four-Eyes, Ghost kill their former squadmates in firefight that Jeanne didn't want to happen much later on which allows Jeanne, Four-Eyes, and Ghost to meet up with Claire, Leon, and Sherry and escape Raccoon City with them.
Continuity error (yeah, I'm a pedantic buzz kill): Claire doesn't carry a knife in the original RE2 and neither does Leon. In fact Leon's character model in this game looks to be identical to his look in the "Special 1" costume in RE4.
