This always fascinated me in Rock Band Blitz since that was the first time I saw BREs get turned into real notes. Always wondered how that game knew to do that, but it makes perfect sense to me now.
So the actual reason why RB charts have hidden notes in the BRE is for the guitarists and bassists to animate properly. Both the onstage guitarists and bassists strum whenever a note passes by in the chart, so the BRE has hidden notes so the guitarist's hand is still playing and isn't static. This is also why drums typically doesn't have these notes, as drums are animated manually via MIDI notes.
Steely Dan is one of the best bands ever. It’s members are just two people and they use the best musicians for all of their albums. I love all of their songs

When I first started downloading songs to clone hero, I tried playing bodhisattva since I really like that song. I came across that ending and it confused me so much but learning why it's like that makes me understand so much better.

I'm sad that whoever ported the songs over to GHWTDE didn't add the notes under the big rock ending. Run To the Hills was probably my favorite track to play, and I was annoyed that there was nothing to do at this section of the song... 😢
