    There is always this pressure to do stuff in the summer. Friends wonder why i haven't gone to this festival/ that summer fayre/ invite me to talks etc. Well, personally, sitting tending my small garden, watching robins and sparrows come to drink and eat is enough for me. I dont do the heat well either. I love autumn and spring. In summer i stay inside my cool old granite house and in winter snuggle down by the fire. I thought it was just me getting older ( im 65) but i find it so interesting that folk of your generation are now thinking this way too.

    Lovely video Molly, it’s a calming thing to watch in my busy life as a mother of two little, very energetic girls! I struggle with self-care as there seems to be not enough time in the day. I really like your dress, what brand is it? I buy most of my clothes from Vinted (not many as I am quite minimimalistic) but am on a hunt for a lovely dress. We are growing tomatoes and cucumber this year to show the girls where the food we eat comes from. Hello from Surrey 👋🏻

    Hello there, love your videos.
    This isn't the correct place to put this but wanted you to see and reply to my question.
    How do you create a book list for the year?
    I read loads and never have created a book list or gernes of books to read over the course of a year.
    Try to read at least 52 books a year, last year read 72. Having a slow read this year as reading all the Harry Potter books for the first time.
    For some reason I couldn't post this on your blog.
    Read Gone with the Wind last year, after having the book on the shelf for over 27 years, a very good read.
    Thanking you in advance

      Hi lovely! I don't usually create a firm list for the year, but I always have a go to list of books I want to read. I try and separate them by season and add some as I go. I get a lot of books from the library so much of my reading is spontaneous. I hope that helps!

    I can totally relate with so much of what you say. Being sensitive, moved to tears with news, adverts, the soaps which I no longer watch for obvious reasons. Just accepting that's how you are, gives you such a feeling of relief! It's like being freed!I'm not ashamed to say it anymore. When life all gets too much, I just retreat into myself, in my home until I feel better.x

    I really appreciate you sharing your experiences with self care. I can relate to the struggles with both journaling and meditating. I have such a love for beautiful stationary but never really use it for anything other than to-do lists or to simply look at! Not sure why, but even the word "journalling" irritates me at times LOL Your video has inspired me to try again. Meditating has also been a struggle. Finding the time in my day to just sit still and be calm without watching a program on the tele. Moments outside in my garden or sitting in the sun have been my form of meditation this past Summer without actually meditating. Something else I know I could benefit from to find that inner calm.

    I have been journalling for over thirty years. Every morning, unless I have an early appointment out. I believe it has helped me through many life trials and helps my mind to see problems in the third person, if that makes sense? Having this distance allows me to see the way through whatever it is. I never keep my journals, they are ceremonially burned about a month after the last entry is written. Journalling and reading both help to keep me sane! A great video Molly, thanks. xx

      @debs_SoggyBottom interesting ideas. Yes, I think journalling can help one distance themselves a bit from what seems to be going around & around in their mind. Curious, why do you burn your journals, especially so soon after finishing one? Apart from building a collection of many over the course of a life.

    • @debs_SoggyBottom
      @debs_SoggyBottom Год назад +1

      @@Jwhitedesertflower I think I burn them for two reasons: I don't want to look back, to re-read the sometimes horrible things that I've dealt with and secondly, because I am an extremely private person. My journal is my safe space where I can say absolutely anything without judgement or shock. I don't know why, but the me people see is not the innermost me. I am yet to discover why I am this way, but content to let it be. I am in my early sixties, will I ever find out the answer? I don't know. Burning my journal is a release of all that has gone and signifies a new start, a reset. I guess my journals are a dumping ground, a brain dump, full of the rubbish of life, I hardly ever write about the good things, they are stored as memories. xx

    Dear Molly, my partner Paul and I have started saving for a holiday in Scotland. We live in Australia after 12 years of travelling through many countries as house sitters. I’ve felt we left a lot of Scotland unseen (we did a sit in Dunfermline) and did some travelling but there’s so much wildness we still want to see. Our savings plan will see us come back over there for June/July 2025. Very exciting. Thank you for sharing your days with all of us. Love it when you express yourself with your little laughs. I journal- and I particularly reviewing the day in the evening. I use a book called 'Reimagining the Ignatian Examen' by Mark E. Thibodeaux. It is using an older way of christian reviewing the day. I would recommend it- and if not christian you can change the emphasis. But I find in reviewing the day I notice the highlights within each day.
    Also in the love of older children authors have you read any by E. J. Oxenham, E. M. Brent-Dyer or Malcolm Saville?
