    • @snerdterguson
      @snerdterguson 3 месяца назад +1

      I disagree personally. Baseball used to be special in their separation of the leagues. Interleague play is great while it is happening, but by its very nature, it ruins the All Star Game and makes the World Series far less compelling. As a kid, the ASG was incredible. Getting to watch Maddux face Ripken, watching National League hitters facing Randy Johnson when he was on the Mariners.
      And the WS was much better back in the day. You didn't have a sample of games from a couple months earlier to look at and see what the matchup looked like. You were pretty much going in blind and it was terrific. As a Yankee fan, it hurt me that the Subway Series in 2000 was not the first official meeting of the Yankees and Mets. It would have been so much cooler.
      All that being said, I am completely hyped to see the Yankees Dodgers series this weekend.

    Stanton over Bryce Harper will forever be a stain on Cashman's resume
    This deal alone is enough to make Cash a career negative WAR GM (1 championship since taking over Gene's teams till about 2003)

    • @snerdterguson
      @snerdterguson 3 месяца назад +1

      Right. Because as the second ranking member of the GMs office from 1992-1998, he must have had nothing to do with acquiring any of the players we got from 1992-1998... And as GM, he obviously didn't trade for David Justice, which was the only reason we even made the playoffs in 2000. He didn't bring in El Duque, or Brosius, didn't make the ballsy trade for Clemens giving up a bunch of valuable players like Lloyd, Bush and Wells. He signed or traded for 2 ALCS MVPs and 2 WS MVPs.
      This narrative that he was handed a dynasty is embarrassingly ignorant. You think Stick promoted him because he liked the way he looked in a suit?

    • @jayceh
      @jayceh 3 месяца назад +1

      @@snerdterguson I am giving him partial credit, though not GM credit.
      If we win the WS this year, are you going to say Jean Afterman built this team?
      But he was not, in fact, the GM while the dynasty was built, and David Justice alone did not win the 2000 WS. The WAR mainly came from *checks notes
      Posada, Bernie, Jeter, Andy, Clemens, Mariano? Oh.
      But that partial credit is wiped out by this one insanely bad move - negative 14 WAR not counting the insane roster constriction Giancarlo imposed that Bryce never has. One single move was negative ~20 WAR - that's insanely bad.
      Don't even need to mention Ellsbury, Pavano, Brown, Gallo, Donaldson, etc etc
      When you're the highest paid roster for the past 14 years and get to 0 world series - there's no explanation except a negative WAR GM.
      Give the league average GM $3B dollars you think they can't even _make_ a world series?
