Datin Fabrication, Idaho USA has a brilliant single ARB compressor Mount that installs next to the auxiliary battery and even leaves enough room to store your air hose. No drilling, no cutting no trimming, very simple installation.
John, for an eternal camping light look at the Teralume Industries X Strip lights. RUclips does not allow me to post the direct link. The lights have been installed on the INEOS and they have a dimmer, ON/OFF switch and dual colour.
I drove past a black Grenadier in Cooktown, on my way back from Cape York Peninsular yesterday. It’s the first time I’ve had an opportunity to get more than a glancing view to date. It looks very imposing, very impressive. I’d be interested to have a good walk around.
What a coincidence. That'd be my Grenadier if you saw it in town on Sunday. I only picked it up recently but it's been bloody brilliant and I'm looking forward to giving it a good run up here.
Hi John, Another enjoyable update on your Grenny activities so looking forward to your next trip update! We finally picked up our Trialmaster a couple of weeks ago and have now clocked up 1900km, picking up new drawers and a short shake down tow trip with our AOR camper. I'll send you some picks. Cheers Norm
The arm from the window fitting to the rear of the tablet traverses the passenger airbag cover. In the event of "the unthinkable" the cover will explode upwards opening like a clamp shell. The bag will deploy towards the passenger probably propelling the tablet in front into the passenger's head. May need a rethink on positioning the tablet..
Thank you for your observation, I totally agree and have purchased a shorter arm and now have it centred in front of the rear vision mirror away from the airbags. Obviously I can't use the mirror when it's there but I have the van on anyway and the camera. Really appreciate your comment, John
@@cannyoutdoors glad to "help"! Really enjoying all your videos. They've given me the confidence to get out and about in the Grenadier. Looking forward to visiting in 2024 some of the places you highlight... once the weather settles :-)
Hi John -thanks for the great video -interesting the receiver on my Trailmaster fits all kinds of standard 2 inch ( 50.8 mm ) hitches without any difficulty at all perhaps I was lucky .My build date is very similar yours.
Hi Mark, yes I think the luck of the draw. Arc for example said they could not supply as they are 50.8x50.8 =/- 0.8. So you could get one that would fit or one that is 59.6. . I have a Hayman Reece here that won't fit. Regards, John
No it doesn't. I have gone thru 5 tow ball hitches so far - written to 3x australian tow bar manufacturers - INEOS in their wisdom decided on a 50x50mm receiver for a SOLID 50x50mm hitch shaft (not tube). Therefore no Australian tube hitch (50.8mm x 50.8mm tube) will fit the 50x50mm receiver! So you will need to have made a specific Tow Hitch with the appropriate riser height to suit your van/camper. Already spoken to ALLIN in SA, I will replicate their specification drawing with the correct dimensions so I can fit my AOR Off Road Quantum Camper, Johns is way too high for the Quantum to be level and legal. - Geoff
@@icanifuwill my old Toyota and Hayman hitches fit my GI like a glove also my mate Peters Trialmaster here in Brisbane works also. thanks however for your concern.
Good day John, I think I saw somewhere that you are in Toowoomba. I expect to collect my vehicle from the Agent there somewhere between January at the earliest and March . Regards, Hector

G'day Kevin,Yes it is likely that we will be going through Chinchilla on Saturday. Send me an email cannyoutdoors@gmail.com and we can see if it works, John
Hi John - awesome video as usual. Contacted Allin’s to get the tow hitch. Your CB install video also super useful and I followed it to a tee!! Quick question - what is the light bar you’ve chosen please? I know you said you were going to do a video but keen to purchase and fit a light bar. Merry Christmas and hope you have a great NY full of adventures 👍👍 Cheers Richard
G'day Richard, Thanks for your kind comments. I am travelling through the Flinders Ranges at the moment so the vid on the light bar will probably be in Feb. The Lightbar is a Nitro Max 355w 40" from Ultra Vision. Australian made in Swan Hill 5 year warranty and bloody expensive(about $1500). BUT worth every penny, it is fantastic and one of its best features is the colour temperature, I chose the 4500k which is a softer more yellow light than other manufactures have (5000, 5500,6000,6500) which are really white and to me glarey. The light is amazing and more relaxing on your eyes and more true to colour. It has a really wide beam with a long distance throw. The thing to note is that I did not use the aux point provided I ran seperate cabling for a few reasons. 1/ it draws 26A 2/ I wanted it linked to my high beam 3/ it has a hi/lo function where you can switch the long beam off and just use the wide. Also, no reflection or glare off the bonnet. Top quality product. BTW I have no kickbacks or commissions from them and no relationship. They did give me a bit of a discount when I bought it but that's all. Hope that's helpful , I really appreciate your interest. Have a great New Year! John
Hey John, lots of good gear you have there well thought out, but one thing that concerns me and that is the mounting of the navigation screen over the front of the dash, IF that airbag deploys the screen will be a missile aimed at the passengers head. I look forward to seeing your next adventure, keep up the good work.
Hi Mike, really good point and one of concern to me also. I have remounted it in the centre up in front of the rear vision mirror, Ok because I have the van on the back so can't use the mirror. . Just got to sneak a power lead up there as I hate dangling cords. Thanks for pointing it out, John
Thanks for the video John! Most enjoyable and interesting especially that recovery bag! If I may comment on that; I'd add a snatch pulley/rope retention pulley for good measure! Enjoy the trip. Camping with one's son is amazing! (No grandchildren yet! 😄) Can't wait for the trip video. Cheers
Hi Ben, yes I do. Its mounted on right had side of the steering wheel (RHD vehicle) on that blank panel. Not ideal as no access by a passenger in emergency but seems to be where most are placing it. there is not much behind that panel and it is a bit of a shame they didn't put some blanks there. I have also mounted a rocker switch there for my light bar. I ignored the ext aux point as I wanted it linked to high beam and mine is 26A . Hope that's useful, Cheers John
Hi John.'Thanks for the videos, I'm now the proud owner of a (slightly used) grenadier, looks very much like yours!. I watched your video, and remember your comments about the longer tow hitch that was rated to 3500kg. I can only see one rated to 3000kg on the website. Was this made especially for you? The one supplied on my car is not original, and will not suits the DO35 hitch I require. Let me know if you wouldn't mind. Thanks Pedro
Hi Pedro, Allin Towers in South Australia will make it for you. The details you should request are "280mm 3” rise solid tube ball mount. Custom ball mount for Ineos Grenadier. Cost will be $250 inc gst + shipping." It is 3500kg rated with 350kg down. Hope that helps. Congrats onsetting the car. John
No it doesn't 🫤. Their reasoning was that we can all connect our phones. I think it's a mistake particularly as the phone mapping connection is not working and we don't yet have a fix. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. John
Hi John, can you tell me the details about the new tow hitch? I checked out Allin Towbars and there are a lot of options. I think yours was 3.5ton but not sure which hitch you purchased
Yes 3500kg and 350kg down. you would need "280mm 3" rise solid tube ball mount for Ineos Grenadier" (yep I know mixed measurement standards ) They are $250 incl GST. Hope that helps, cheers, John
They are the 28-30 Tube mounting Brackets $24.99 a pair. Actually a bit large, they come with a rubber insert and I found wrapping black insulation tape (lengthways ten times) they then tighten up on the rail. Quite awkward to put on if you have the roof rack but not impossible. Hope that helps John
@@cannyoutdoors Thanks John, thought it was that one and thought it might be a little too large, will try them. I am going to attach the steed micro v2 7.8inch 12 LED flood light, 2 on each side. Don't currently have a roof rack, awaiting the 3/4 length rhino rack from Ineos to appear.
The GPS emergency device on the dash is awesome
