Deshilados of the Meseta

Deshilados translates loosely as “unravel” - which loosely describes this intricate art form. First, the artist cuts the fabric and carefully removes select threads, to create a canvas of empty spaces, while stitching off the edges so the fabric doesn’t run. Then the artist uses embroidery thread to create exquisite patterns where the threads have been removed. Exceptional patience required!
