I don't think the so called "boycott" had anything to do with it. I'm pretty sure EA has planned this stairs update for months.
This is one of the first big updates we got since the sims game got sold to new owners

@JessJaspjust tested in my game which doesn’t have the latest update and can confirm you cannot zoom in and out pre update. When satch on sims mentioned it I thought you always could as well but I guess not!
What I’d really like is for it to be easier / possible to set up relationships in cas for sims you bring over to a new save from previous saves.
About 18 mos ago my legacy save file started having a loooot of issues and I had to start a new save and move everyone important over and it let me set some of the sims relationships but not all of them. So my legacy founder now does not show as related to her children and grandchildren and many of them aren’t related to each other since they were all in different households with their own family’s. Even if I move them in together briefly it will not allow me to change the relationships. I think there’s a way to do it with mc command center but I don’t play with mods or cc.
@WhisperTrainingu can use cas.fulleditmode lets u set family members and dynamics to existing sims.
It’s a cheat with ctrl shift c after activating it u shift click on a sim and select modify in cas.
It is so funny to me that EA has to keep repeatedly being like "yeah sorry about the incest, we fixed that"

Afro textured category isn't new, the curly haired category is and beforehand afro textured category had a lot of missing hairs due to not being correctly tagged
Ah this makes sense. I could’ve sworn that the Afro hair texture category already existed but I noticed it was gone in CAS a few weeks ago. I really hope the categorization is a lot better now …

19:33 I’ve been able to cheat through that event before Adventure Awaits with UI cheats! And there’s also a mod to unlock all of the event rewards if you’ve missed them! It’s called FOMO mod

@delfinabruno470 I haven't played in a while but with ui cheats (unless it changed) you can just click various bits of the ui to either complete them or to get rid of them. Like if your sim gets sad and you don't want them to be sad you can just click the little tile that labels them as sad and it'll disappear and put them back to whatever is their next strongest emotion, if you want to get through an aspiration without going through the trouble of doing all the tasks for it you can just click it and it'll mark whatever bit you clicked on as complete (like with the artist aspiration it wants you to view paintings at a museum, if you didn't want to you could click on that task and it'd mark it as done), or for events you can click on the tiles of the tasks for the event and it'll progress you through the event even though you haven't actually done whatever task it was (like for prom you could click on the dance with someone task and it'd mark that task as complete and progress your little bar closer to gold)
Makes me so upset. Half the time these events were too glitchy for me to even complete them in time. 😩

They had the Afro-Textured hair filter tag, but they removed it for some reason, and now they've added it back.
So I'm not crazy then. Because I could have sworn that we had the Afro-Textured hair filter before
It was just underwhelming and haven't been tagged properly. Totally they had to redo it, because the code is so broken or something. 😂

10:11 Actually the Afro-textured has always been there. I think they just split it in Afro-textured and Curly as before it was sort of all lumped into one category. It's not new, just more granular. Which honestly I appreciate, I like having stuff properly categorized, and tbh I wish I could add my own tag filters to CAS as well haha (sorting all my sci-fi, fantasy, medieval, and modern stuff would be nice, or by cc author)

Yeah "Afro-textured" was the title but it also included looser curls along with kinky/coily hair. "Curly" should have always been there along with afro-textured category
@LorEnergy-g1e Yeah it's kinda weird it took them this long to split it, but then again not very surprising considering their lack of enthusiasm for textured hair. Wasn't high on the priority list ig.. :/
But we have it now so better late than never. Now they just need to add more than 3 items into the Africana clothing filter XD
I came here to say this! I noticed it was missing more recently, but the Afro-textured tag has been there before. I’m glad to see it back and in a way that functions better but I’m confused why they’re saying it’s new when it’s not.

I don't know your friend's situation but the blanket asylums from the Biden admin. is what caused them to look over these cases with a fine tooth comb. Simsie has 10k hour listed in her app which equates to 440 full days or 1,320 work days, or 5 work YEARS in game.
if I’m remembering correctly I think Simsie said at one point it should actually be like 1000ish hours more. when the sims first came out, for whatever reason, time spent playing in the sims 4 would log in the CAS demo and not the actual game. so after the CAS demo was removed, her app stopped counting like 1000 hours in time played

Literally teared up when she was talking about it. There are so many public figures staying silent right now and.... yeah, I can understand why, especially if they're from an at risk population. But when creators actually take a stand for what they believe in it really means so much.

I had my sim break up with 2 different men (one who she was married to) because they kept flirting with her mom and sister!! 😳🤣 I downloaded mods for the first time ever recently so I just thought it was an issue with that lol

Same here! And I think I will keep manually fixing them though, because the relationship levels don't match the story of him being disowned (like Kayla said) and to make sure they have the appropriate family dynamics from packs.
0:38 this is why I always stand up for Kayla. I came for the build tips, I stayed for the personality, I became a ride or die because she uses her platform. She’s a human being who actually takes steps to do better and show up for causes instead of just paying lip service.

yeah the curly hair tag is the new one, before it was straight wavy and afro-textured
It was originally straight, wavy, and curly. Then some years ago they renamed curly as Afro-textured because it made them sound inclusive without doing the work of actually sorting out Afro-textured hairs (or admitting how few they had). Then an update or two ago they put Afro-textured back as the original curly, and now they’ve added Afro-textured for real as a fourth tag that they’ve sorted the hairs that really are Afro-textured into.
Bro i feel like im being Mandela effected because I distinctly remember the filters being straight wavy curly and Afro texture not just curly or Afro they were def both there.
This update makes me a little mad because they updated family tree and relationships, but they didn’t bother to add this feature/update in CAS, so you can’t even set/select the relationship in CAS in pre-existing games or in a new save file and apparently the select connection features is tied to the legacy pack and under scandals which is soooooooo dumb. :/
They made it complex and time consuming for no reason.

If mods are what you have to get in order for you to be satisfied and complacent with the game then you’re feeding into EAs laziness.

Mods are supposed to be for fun uses, not carrying your game on its back.

And you can say what you want about mods but anyone who genuinely plays the sins knows that modders are the backbone of the community and i feel like saying that mods aren't for "carryig your game on its back" is kind of minimizing what mod creators do.
As for console players, yes they dont have access for mods, that sucks and there should be more accomodations in cas for them, im not going to disagree with you there. I am curious as to what you mean when you not everyone has access to mods because your wording sounds like you are referring to people other than console players in that, so if you'd be willing to explain id be happy to listen.

When I finally do upgrade my game I cannot wait to see my legacy save family tree. I have been playing the same save file since 2020 and I have over 200 sims and everyone is interconnected in some way. My family trees were already massive before the update.

This update removes all railings from preexisting staircases btw. Annoying, but I’m glad we can finally fix the railings…after over 10 years.

I mean, besides the money part, theyd have to recode EVERY SINGLE railing, from every single pack. And adding all of those to the idea of bugs, glitches, something that works that messes another thing up? It can take.. a lot of time.. though its probably mostly the money..

Well, no, he technically is Goth and Agnes is Goth; Crumplebottom is her married name.
Im pretty sure her lore in the sims 3 is that her husband died before she can take on his last name so Crumplebottom is her maternal name and Cornelia Goth was Cornelia Crumplebottom before she married Gunther Goth
@poochthedog1 This is correct - Agnes Crumplebottom was engaged to Eric Darling who tragically drowned before they could get married, so she didn't take his name. Also, Mortimer is as much Crumplebottom as he is Goth for the record.
@Technoelcor He's both, his mother Corneila (Mortimer's mom) was a Crumplebottom before marrying his father Gunther and Agnes is her sister. Both Cornelia and Agnes were born into the Crumplebottom family.
I'd love to see them add a drop -down list in the edit relationship section. A bunch of different relationships to select to customize the family tree, like god mother, second cousin, etc.
also very thankful for no autonomous flirting with in laws and stuff lol! I have a jealous sim and AT HIS WEDDING his mood completely soured cause his bride autonomously flirted with his brother and it ruined the whole wedding because he had all the jealous emotions and kept throwing tantrums (understandably)

Idk if it's mentioned in patchnotes or not but you can scroll in and out in the family tree and you can toggle if you want to see which sims are adopted. If turning it on, it will show who were adopted in a family tree. If turned off, it won't show.

1 thing I want in The Sims is an easier way to make floors sunk in the ground, and to have floors on the same level be at different heights and allow them to intersect.
So like say you wanted to do a raised bungalow, where the basement is partially above ground and the entrance to the house is at the ground but the first floor is higher than that. You can't really do that in the Sims
I love the new stairs update and them actually going back and adding people and connections to the family trees to connect story-lines, packs, and sims makes me so freaking happy! And thank goodness this is all basegame!
6:53 she didn't notice when she talking about the stairs comparision of sims 3, the "fancy" stairs she just showed, didn't had the little points to make them curve. so I'm guessing some of the stairs are limited to curving.

Nah there's at least some that they've added in the base game but VERY few if none from other packs. Also yeah, I'm pretty sure the high-ups (not to be confused with the creatives) refused to approve a pack with an African inspired world because they said it "wouldn't appeal to a larger demographic" (I'm paraphrasing so don't quote me on this but yeah that's the reason) Having a single neighborhood in the new (potentially last) pack was their compromise.

I’ve been using UI cheats mod to get through these gameplay events, and it’s actually soo helpful. 😅
In my game I’ve had the “Afro texture” for a long time, and was gonna open up the game before the update but it didn’t let me open it, but yeah, I think that part isn’t new for me, but I think it didn’t have “curly” for me

Goofylilshady had a hard time with the stairs flaring on platforms, but where they attach on the outside up to the platform. You have to make the flare then attach the stairs to the platform

But as soon as they added the optional tasks in one of those previous events, I knew they would make events where you need certain packs to complete them, or to get the stuff.

Nah, if you know that they didn't agree to an African-centric basegame world and instead made a small African neighbourhood in the new pack, it makes sense that they had some features related to Black sims in store for the basegame too. The stairs are also definitely related to making grand mansions for the royalty part of the expansion. They're releasing the packs so fast now this came as a post-pack update rather than the usual pre-pack update.
If it was a real apology tour they would have made spiral staircases, like people have been requesting for literal years

18:45 i was thinking about logging back into the sims to finish this event, but despite having dozens of packs, I don't have the ones that you need to get the exclusive stuff, so i guess i won't be..
I do wonder if that means we'll see some of those sims that didn't previously exist (such as the Vatore's and Lily's parents and all), especially if they are marked as 'alive' as sims you can download on the gallery like some of the other sims you see in pack trailers and all from EA.
The Afro-Textured hair category previously existed. They're just tagging hairstyles properly in it.

Looking through all the family trees is so much fun. So much lore! I found out that Duane Talla is Liliana Kealoha’s brother and their dad is a man named Manu Kealoha. So Makoa took her last name. I’m so invested, I wish I could see their dad in game 😭

Finally fixing the famil trees (but sadly not all the relationships) - no more starting a long term legacy with setting it all up by myself with MCCC for hours… Took them 10+ years and so much more time then doing it from the beginning for every pack.
And your legacy family tree remind me of some Crusador Kings family trees - I just hope it does not crash the game like it did with CK a few times for me 😂

I had the same issue but it didn’t say failed it said ready to play and i didn’t realise it was the broken version i deleted the save really quick
Btw ui cheats works on the event!! ( at least the latest version that breaks the game a little )
