Disneyland's BIG Pin Trading Update | NEW Tables & NO PIN TRADING After 3pm?!

  • BIG Pin Trading Updates and changes have happened at Disneyland!
Pin trading at the benches in frontierland was a tradition that has been going on for decades and with disney's new update, it has come to an end. There are now dedicated Pin Trading tables located in Frontierland, in place of the benches that pin traders would use to display their collections for trade.
The largest change that is being implemented is all pin trading has to come to an end at 3 PM and you are not allowed to trade with other guests anywhere else in the park (aside from on a pin lanyard)!
Let us know your thoughts on these new rules!

I love the new tables, it makes pin trading more fair, less intimidating and welcoming for all traders. Previously people who take up an entire bench and many guests felt nervous to walk up. With the tables I traded non stop for almost 3 hours, people walked up one after another but I don't like the time. Crossing my fingers that they update it to a later time or add another area where guests can trade after 3pm.

Unbelievable! They make all these rules for individual pin trading (which is about the only way you can trade authentic pins) but do nothing about all the fakes being traded on the boards. Meanwhile the price of pins has skyrocketed. If they get too much more unreasonable with pricing or about trading in the parks, I may just stop buying pins. It's not as magical as it used to be.
I love the WANTED poster, Nick! That is awesome!

Definitely seems like there's room for improvement regarding pin trading regulations. Seems a bit harsh as is. I understand wanting to use the location, but Frontierland doesn't receive that much traffic as is. Maybe one of the alternate locations will be in the Star Wars area after 3pm? Somewhere at the back of the park seems fitting.

The regulations seem completely disproportionate, if Disney put half as much energy into regulating scrappers as they did controlling bench trades then trading at the boards would be a lot more fun and maybe there wouldn’t be so many people trading with eachother

I asked about that with a cast member the last time I was ad DW. They told me that the issue is that technically scrappers are still “authentic Disney Pins” they are just ones made with a mold that was supposed to be disposed of. That and it’s so difficult for them to tell a scraper pin from a non scrapper one.

When I saw the new rules, I was really concerned and knew you guys would be as well. I don't understand why the non-pin traders would be so upset about the benches? And the fact that you can't trade after 3:00pm? That's ridiculous. But I am glad they at least have tables to trade at. I wonder if the same rules apply at Disney World? I hope not. LOL. Maybe if Disney sees that everyone is following the rules, maybe they will extend the pin trading time? Fingers crossed.

  • @themerryweather1
    @themerryweather1 10 месяцев назад +1

Thanks for the trade that day! It was also my first time visiting the pin tables--and mostly empty benches, haha. The two things that really bother me about the new rules is that-there are tons of benches around Frontierland and the pin benches don't really make a big difference in the grand scheme of things. Also, the line about fakes and scrappers are ridiculous--their own pin boards are %99.99 scrappers. Come on, Disney! Get your own house in order. I think those rules were an excuse to get rid of the traders who are there constantly, intimidate folks away from "their benches" and encouraging people to purchase pins in the shop to trade. I'm not against that, but please be honest about what's happening.

I am happy they finally get their own special place to trade pins as these tables at the given time is meant only for their use.
I will agree that the 3pm time is deeply limiting. I do feel a formal protest of some kind needs to be made to increase this time. I of course always start my trips in Disneyland at Adventureland so I am normally doing my pin trading by 11 or 12.
We pin traders still have the park tables by the lockers in Downtown Disney on Sundays. Maybe we should work together to make this place the NEW official site to trade pins daily?

As someone who collects and trades pins myself, I always looked forward meeting those set up on the benches and have made multiple friends through pin trading who offer to help me trade my duplicates to complete my sets, so I am extremely disappointed in how Disney has treated loyal pin traders! And the fact that you aren't allowed to trade with anyone anywhere else is also bogus! There are so many fun people who blog (like you guys), who carry "PICK ANY PIN BOARDS" with them and trade pins around the parks with kids, and families who love this interaction and make it fun for them which is awesome, but the fact that you aren't allowed to do that anymore is bogus! It doesn't help that every remaining pin board (the ones that aren't disappearing mysteriously) have totally fake pins which leaves no chance of actually getting good trades except for the mini tables/benches. I for one HATE this new rule, plus the 3pm limit rule too. Disney has totally changed things for the worse and it seems like they are trying to eliminate pin trading all together which sucks since it's one of the main reasons I even still come to the park! Shame on them, they have ruined the magic with this nonsense! 😡

I stumbled upon this RUclips video recently about the history of Disney pin trading (see: ruclips.net/video/eKvPEeXlew8/видео.html). It was only produced a few years ago, but it was somewhat shocking to see how a good idea has been distorted over time. The history video talks a lot about how trading facilitates interaction - yet the new rules seem to do the opposite.

That park would not even be there without the workers that run the joint. The bakers, the cooks, the stockers, the street sweepers, the painters and repair men. You know, all those under paid employees you could not give a rats asp about. You probably ate more food in one day than a single disney park cast member can eat outside the park in a week due to the poor wages they get. They are so underpaid its deplorable. I know of 32 members by name that have to live in their cars, mini vans and homeless shelters because they are paid so little. The next time you buy some food at the Disney park, buy something for a cast member. They are not allowed, by Disney law, to show it and can not accept it unless you offer it 3 times, but trust me, they will be more grateful than you think. That Happiest Place on earth is being run by very unhappy people. While you and laughing and having a great time, the cast in the park are starving and their hearts are breaking. While you are looking around to see what ride is nearby, a cast member is looking around to see if the security "mouse Spies" are watching them as they have to scratch their face or swat a fly. It's all a very dark illusion.
