Betty was a great singer .So many of the singers from her era never got managed or promoted by their record companies. So much fabulous talent never given a chance to reach their potential. So sad we lost Betty in 2001 but her music and legacy lives on and we not forget her. God bless, Jay Balvin
I use to write and talk with Miss Betty Everett back in the day; she was really nice. When she came to Los Angeles for the Rhythm and Blues Foundation, I was the only one she said she would take a picture with. Love all her music Trouble Over The Weekend, Getting Mighty Crowded, Prince Of Players, Sugar, Falling In Love and so many others. Rest in Peace Betty. I still have your letters for safe keeping. Love Spookey Thanks J.B. Ross for the posting.
Sorry the song "Let It Be Me" is a popular song originally published in French in 1955 as "Je t'appartiens" interpreted by Gilbert Bécaud. It became popular worldwide with an English version by the Everly Brothers and later with the duet by Betty Everett and Jerry Butler. Also I find the interviewer seems to be talking down to her , greatest compliment is when discussing how Berry Gordy had stated if you could find a singer that can sing half as good as Betty Everett then we'll have a group. Betty was a fantastic, talented singer and performer. God Bless the late Betty Everett. Jay Balvin
Hey Jay, next time you interview a famous person, try to let them get a word in here or there. Man you don't stop talking for even 5-seconds. I feel sorry for Betty having to put up with this for even 3-minutes.
Why are Americans so shallow with their appraisals of singers' careers? Betty Everett recordf many great songs after her vintage Vee Jay hits, on many different labels but as far as this history is concerned because they didn't sell as well she may as well not have bothered!
drwhatson, you're so right, this woman could've earned the title queen of soul back then she sang some fantastic tunes, did you hear the statement in this interview?and the to be queen was around those times, plus Berry Gordy knew Aretha very well,he was a friend of her dad.
@@danieljones8876 So how come she's better remembered outside the USA? My bet is she's only remembered for "The Shoop-Shoop Song" and maybe a couple of lesser '60s hits, whereas she was making great records at least into the late 1970s.
@@danieljones8876 Well, a) her records are still played in clubs across the UK. b) Most of my friends own several of her recordings. c,) Several have been reissued due to demand ever since the late 1960s. d) We don't care about chart success because "It's what's in the grooves that counts." e) There has been a thriving market for "rare" and little known Soul records for decades and US artists regularly perform here.
She was so soso so soso so soso so talented
She was a genius

I miss her
She was the goat
You really ought to learn how to ask open-ended questions and let the interviewee talk. That's what people want to hear.
I don't but she still seems like the the lovely - naive - girl of old times.
She was a power house

What proof do you have that she's better remembered outside the USA aside from your own statements? On what is this assertion based?

My grandmother didn't died due to smoking 😕!!!
Blame the 50s & 60s
