How was the traffic? I've got a flight to Chile booked to ride the Carreterra Austral in December 2024. Some friends who don't bicycle tour but spend quite a bit of time living near Puerto Montt and exploring by truck told me that the road is now really busy and that Argentine drivers, especially, do not give way for anyone and he thought the ride would be incredibly dangerous and not fun. I just rewatched your video with those comments in mind but don't see you mentioning anything about highway traffic.
The traffic in my opinion was not bad. On the gravel sections when it was dusty most people slowed down. There are always a few trucks and motorcycles that are not paying attention and speed past but that wasn't very common. I think you will love it and don't worry about the traffic 🚴♂️
Agreed.. I was somewhat limited in some areas with high winds as I couldn't use my tripod it would just get blown over and audio is useless in the wind.. I could have made 2-3 videos for this route for certain.
Nice job, always appreciate people who spend the time do make a great video! I have the same bike and heading there in March. Keep exploring my friend

@@JeremyEll Thanks. That matches what I was thinking from other research, until talking to this non-touring friend.
Fantastic, thank you. This has been on our bucket list. Do you speak much Spanish?
Unfortunately I don't speak much Spanish.. I used Google translate when necessary.. Overall there was never much confusion 🚴♂
What....I think I saw you cooking real food including fresh veggies. What a change from Ramen and Spam!
Oh how I miss my SPAM! 🍖
Great shots. What do you film on? I’ve seen a DJI Pocket, do you use anything else?
I listed all the great in the video description. I was using a Nikon Z9 with 3 lenses. 😊
great visuals, but the documentation of the route was lacking. missed a lot of sights.

What size pot were you using?
its an MSR pot.. I believe that is the 2litre pot.. It came as a set of 2 pots.. I use the larger one.
Great video. Would have been superb if you had used drone!
I agree I had started this trip in Bolivia though and passing thru 3 countries there were a lot of restrictions if I got caught... 😊
